Trip Report Our (mostly) Dream-y June 2014 Vacation

Hi all! We returned from our trip 5 days ago, and I'm ready to relive it through this report!

First, let me introduce myself and my family in case you aren't familiar (here is my PTR if you are interested: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/my-dream-vacation-a-june-2014-ptr.865397/)
Here we are on the last day of this trip:

Me (Amy), my 6 year old, Owen, my 11 year old, Logan, and my 9 year old, Lily. Also on this trip were my parents (Nanny and Papaw to the kids), my brother, Scott, my SIL, Beth, and my twin 4 year old nieces, Macy and Allison.

Unfortunately, my husband wasn't able to take this trip with us. I am greatly disappointed by this, as he ended up not starting the fire academy like he was supposed to! Long story short, the city of Columbus sucks! They told him that one of the 40 spots was being held for him as long as he passed all of the testing. Well, he did pass all the tests, but they said his labwork took too long getting back and they already gave all the spots to other guys. They guaranteed him a spot in the December class, but he also had to be available the first three weeks of the June academy, "just in case" someone didn't show up or dropped out. Of course, that didn't happen, so he missed the whole vacation and still won't start until December!:( The only good thing to come of this, is that my mom had me schedule a cruise in October for just me and Brian!

Ok, back to the actual trip! Let me just say that I will not be going on any more family vacations with my SIL and nieces. I will say that their time management (or lack thereof) is much different than mine, and not say anything else about it! We had a great time despite our differences!

We had a 6am flight on Wed. morning, so we drove from Dayton to Columbus Tues. night and stayed in a hotel. Here are the kids getting ready to leave our house:

We made sure to leave early enough so we could visit a few stores for the kids once we got to Columbus.

We grabbed dinner at Max and Erma's. It was about this time that my stomach started bothering me. I just assumed it was nerves (I was really nervous about making sure 9 other people had a good time on this vacation!) and being upset that Brian wasn't going with us. Well, it was more than that, and I was up sick all night!

I also just finished reading your entire trip report and I loved every bit of it! We have planned our 1st Disney cruise on the Dream for April 2015 with a visit to WDW before the cruise. I am so excited! All your pictures were great! Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks for reading! You will absolutely love your cruise!

Catching up now!

I never realized they did pictures on the AquaDuck!!! I never saw any when my husband and I went on it a year ago! Is that something new?

How cool was that that you got to sit at the center table in Royal Palace!!!!! I always thought it would be really cool to sit there!!!!

Those pictures from parasailing look AMAZING! That is what I'm doing next time I visit Castaway Cay!

Interesting how they switch up the Princesses at Akershus! When we went in May we had Cinderella not Jasmine!!! I guess it's a surprise every time you go!

I love all the family pictures you are taking the kids are adorable!

Love your pics from the Garden Grill too!!! It's a restaurant I haven't tried yet and I think it will have ot be next time we go! I've heard such great things as of late!

Stinks that your kids had to meet Anna and Elsa separately..I saw they started doing that, which I know everyone was spending alot of time with them, but I personally liked them interacting together. Oh well.

LOOOOOVE those photopass pics with the gorgeous sunset behind you!!!!

I am so happy to see that you had a great time! But I bet you are excited to go in October!!!! Double dip at Castaway!!! Now that is AWESOME!!!

Thanks for taking all of us along for the ride!

Thanks for reading! I've been watching and waiting for your May report!:D

I'm just glad I didn't feel bad any longer than I did! I was worried that I wouldn't be able to enjoy the cruise since it was a short 3 night one!

I absolutely loved the Cars suite. In fact, next time we go back with the 5 of us, I think we will definitely have to get one of the suites! We may have to try a Lion King one next time though.

The soup was good, there were just other things I had that I liked more!

Just think about all the fun you are going to have on your Norway cruise though!! That should help with the lack of a Dream cruise in the immediate future!:D

I just posted the first day earlier tonight before I came to catch up on yours! :)

The Lion King ones look so cute!! If I had to choose between the three to stay there I would choose the Lion King!

Yes it is helping that we're going on a Norway cruise next year! I have os much research to do so that should pass the time by!

I think the Aquaduck pics are pretty hit or miss. Only 1 of our 5 showed up!

The center table was definitely cool, but conversation was difficult!

Parasailing was incredible! I definitely recommend it!!

I heard they change up the princesses sometimes at CRT as well. I saw pics of Merida there at one point, and was really hoping we would see her! Unfortunately, we saw the same princesses multiple times!

Thanks! I think they're pretty adorable too most of the time!:D

The Garden Grill is now on our must do list for next time! The character interaction was great, as was the food!

The kids didn't know any differently, so they were just pleased to be meeting Anna and Elsa!

The sunset PP pics are my absolute favorites from the trip! If only Brian could have been in them!:(

I am beyond excited for our October trip!! I've even started thinking about our Halloween costumes for it. I'm thinking I may have to go as Ursula and do something with Flotsam and Jetsam for Brian!

I will definitely go check out your report next!

Loooove your festival of fantasy parade pics! I can't wait to see it, the colors look breathe taking. I had to laugh a little at all the potty break mentions haha. Isn't that par for the course with little kids?!?

The parade was awesome!! My problem with all of the potty breaks was that my brother and SIL didn't insist on both of the girls going when we stopped, so we always had to stop again very shortly after. The girls also felt the need to get up at every restaurant we went to under the guise of going potty, but really just to check the bathrooms out because they never really went potty!:banghead: It got to be very frustrating!

Can you tell me what camera you used for all your awesome photos.
Would you recommend it?
Thanks
I have a Canon Powershot SX210. I do like that it has better zoom than a lot of point and shoots, but there is a bit of lag time before you can take another pic (like all point and shoots)! That really is my only complaint about it!

Great report! Glad that you & Brian will get a special cruise since he didn't get to join you on this one. We just got back from a week at WDW. I was the planner of that trip so I know just how you you feel when you are the one "in charge" of everyone's fun. Looks like you did a great job keeping things moving as much as possible. You packed in a lot!

Love this! Esp your photos from the FoF parade! Makes me even more excited to see it for the first time! :D
I thought the parade was incredible! I'm hoping we'll be able to catch it again in October when we are there. Unfortunately, we are only there for 1 day. It will be in MK, but I'm not sure how we will do time wise! Have a great trip!!
