Our inaugural trip with DVC: HHI...there right now!

So we got to Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort yesterday around noon. This is our first trip since buying DVC at WL last fall. I can be a bit of a snob about hotel rooms...I have some serious germ phobias. But let me say, these rooms far exceed my expectations. They are beautiful, super clean, comfy beds (way more comfy than the normal beds at WL), and HUGE. We have a deluxe studio, the smallest room you can get, and it is way bigger than I thought it would be. The grounds are amazing...the pool is small but super fun. Last night we did a bonfire and it was hilarious to see all the grown men playing the roles they were assigned. Everytime someone said "Little Bo Peep" they had to stand up and say "Woody, you're my hero" in a Little Bo Peep voice. Super hilarious. Today we are on to the beach house in the morning...making Mickey Tied Dyed t-shirts in the afternoon...Steamer's Seafood for lunch/dinner...and a ghost tour in the afternoon with B'Lou...the resident entertainer here. Any of you that have any questions you want me to investigate while I'm here...just let me know!

Oh...and I know they do this at most DVC resorts...but they have a serious DVD collection that you can rent here! It's crazy...probably like 100 movies. Even old Disney classics that most have never heard of. We rented Gnomeo and Juliet and Up last night.

Seriously, congrats on DVC...and I'm glad you're enjoying it. Our first DVC trip was last summer and it was everything we hoped and expected it to be!!!

There are 3 quick service restaurants and one walk up bar with lots of frozen drinks. But HHI has amazing restaurants, and our 4 favorites are within 2 miles. Only time we have gotten in our car so far! Check out my full TR with pics...I'll post some pics of the restaurants for you tonight.

There's a bar at the beach house. If memory serves, a pretty pricey one. Only quick service at both the beach house and the main resort, they are about 1.2 miles away from each other, with shuttle buses, but I'd figure most people staying there will have some kind of car unlike a WDW trip. However, you are walking distance from a harborside shopping and dining complex with plenty of restaurant options. And it's not a hike of a walking distance, either, once you're out the front of the resort, it's about a 3 minute walk across a bridge and you're on the front end of it. I believe it's called Shelter Cove Harbour. I don't find the walk to these restaurants to be any longer than soe of the walks to the main house at the larger WDW resorts like Riverside or Saratoga. You're also close to the Palmetto Dunes resort and they have a decent selection of restaurants.

Thanks! I will check it out tonight......We tried to go to HHI for Memorial Day Weekend but it was booked up so I am looking forward to hearing (or reading lol) about everything!

Thanks for the info! My husband and I love to relax with some dinner and drinks on vacation and I couldn't find any info on the DVC site about those amenities. Good to know they are close by and in walking distance.
