Trip Report Our Halloween adventures on the Disney Fantasy!

FINALLY I have time to write this report! It's been a crazy couple of months since I got off the cruise! I got through jury duty, finished my fall semester of school, and now I'm currently on day 3 of "taking it easy" since having my second round of sinus surgery. Busy busy busy! Now I just need to finish Christmas shopping!

My family and I sailed on the Disney Fantasy for a 7 night Halloween on the High Seas cruise, and it was absolutely fabulous. I can't wait to share our adventures with y'all :)

Who: Me! (Morgan), the Hubs (Cody), my daughter (Aubs), my parents, sister, and MIL
Where: 1 night pre cruise at Country Inn and Suites Port Canaveral, followed by 7 nights on the Disney Fantasy!
When: Oct. 5-13

Friday, Oct. 5: Flight to Tampa and the drive to Port Canaveral
Why fly from Tampa, you ask? Because the ONLY direct flight from Memphis to Orlando on this day was crazy expensive! It was around $2,000 for 4 round trip tickets to MCO. I paid a little under $800 round trip to Tampa. Once you factor in the rental car price it was still way under 2K!

We ready!

We started our trip with lunch at Chick Fil A before heading to the airport for our 3:40pm flight.

The Tampa airport is so nice! They had really neat artwork all throughout the airport. This was a sea turtle made up of tiny sea turtles!

We picked up our rental van and drove 2 hours to Port Canaveral. I was hoping we may see Disney fireworks on the way but we were too early.

Once we arrived at our hotel, Cody and I ran down the street to Walgreens to pick up a few things. We couldn't resist running down to the ocean to dip our toes in the water! We found a friend too!

We ordered pizza for a late dinner (sorry no pics!) and settled in for a nice sleep!

Saturday, Oct. 6 : Boarding the Disney Fantasy!!

We all woke up Saturday morning super super super excited! The day was finally here! We quickly packed our bags and grabbed breakfast. Here are a few pics of our room. (just ignore the crazy husband :hilarious:)

If you went to the end of the hallway you could see the ships in port (the Fantasy is through the trees)

We dropped off our rental car at Hertz (literally right around the corner from the hotel. we could walk there.) We waited a little bit for the shuttle to take us to the port but it wasn't a bad wait.

FINALLY WE ARE HERE!!!!!!!!

Check in was quick and easy.

It was around 1:30pm, so we went to check out our rooms! We were in room 8648 and I loved this room location!

Views from the verandah

Castaway Club gift!

After getting some stuff unpacked, I took my MIL to go walk around up top. We stopped in Sweet on You but never got anything!

View from the adult section on deck 12 (I believe)

Had to grab a couple pics!

Back to the rooms to decorate our doors!

We had our muster drill on deck 4 (not fun in the heat) and soon we were ready for sail away! And this picture now bugs me because it is all off center, but at the time I didn't care!

Up next, dinner at Royal Court, followed by some late night shopping!

Sat. Oct. 6 Con't

After the muster drill, we went back to the room to freshen up before dinner. Tonight we were at Royal Court

I started off with potato and leek soup. I'm pretty sure this is the same soup served at Be Our Guest

Cody had fried brie

Aubs typical dinner

And more foooooooood. It was all delicious!

I skipped dessert to take Aubs to the Halloween tree lighting in the atrium. It was cute!

We went back to the room after the tree lighting. Our first towel animal! And we can't forget the best chocolates!

Also, Cody had my dessert waiting for me! Our servers told him to make sure and present it to me properly haha

Cody and I went to the shops. I ended up getting this super cute mug, two ornaments, and a spirit jersey (which is soooo comfy!)

I went up top for some hot tea and grabbed a few nighttime pics

Oh my your kiddo is adorable! Looking forward to the report. I'm trying to convince myself that paying for a DCL cruise is worth the $$ over a RCI Oasis-class ship (which we love).

Sunday, Oct. 7 - Day at Sea

I started the morning off with coffee on the verandah. The BEST way to start your day!

It was a beautiful morning!

We promised Aubs we'd take her to "Wake up with Disney Junior" which I think was at 7:30am? She really enjoyed it!

We had breakfast at Cabanas after (my only pic is of half eaten food, so i'm not going to post that!), and then it was time for Princesses!

I must say, this was the best Ariel we've ever met

We grabbed some lunch after meeting the princesses

We spent the afternoon between the pool, kids slide, Aquaduck, and Satellite Falls. These are the only 3 pics I took apparently

Tonight was (optional) formal night! We didn't go all out like some people, but we dressed nice. Aubs had a kid friendly punch

And she made some friends!

Thank you! :) We think it is worth it! We've never cruised with another line, but I want to try others! We were in port with the Harmony of the Seas in 2016 and W.O.W.!!! It looked awesome!

Monday, Oct. 8 - Day at Sea

I was up early today for no reason, so that means early morning pics! This is actually my favorite part of the day on the ship. It's so relaxing and calm :)

Lots of showers out there

This morning we had the Disney Jr. Character Breakfast

Lots of fun details in Animator's

Breakfast!

We saw Sofia the First, Jake, Doc McStuffins, & Mickey!

We took a quick family pic after breakfast

Gotta get the chandelier pic!

It was a really rainy morning

It's hard to walk by the chandelier and NOT take a pic. So here you go!

Some Halloween decor

We went to the kids club open house to wander around since it was raining

Not sure what else we did that morning, but here's my lunch from Cabanas

It FINALLY stopped raining after lunch, so we were up on the top decks outside of Cabanas (by the glass enclosure which is covered). The clouds were looking pretty ominous and I said out loud to my family, "if it's going to be this stormy looking, we better see a waterspout or something!"

...5 minutes later. BOOM.

Honestly, that was one of the highlights of the cruise for me. I've always been a weather nerd and I was like a kid in a candy store bursting with excitement. It was incredible to see!!

After all of that excitement, we found some spots up top and settled in for some relaxation.

At 4pm Aubs had a BBB appointment. She was excited!

She had the sweetest Fairy Godmother

Mainly posting this because it makes me laugh to see Cody and I in the mirror lol

Such a diva!

Aubs spotted Minnie so we had to go meet her

Love this pic in the staircase

The character meet and greet we had to do. Meeting Peter Pan! I'm pretty sure this is the time we also saw Captain Hook and Mr. Smee, Aubs was doing the "gator chomp" at them and it was hilarious! I thought I had pics but I guess I don't :( I know I have a video somewhere!

We ran into Pluto

And we found Ariel in the wild!

It was dinner time and tonight we were in Enchanted Garden

The fountain that turned off right before I took the pic

Tonight's towel animal

A nighttime Tinkerbelle showing off her fancy wings!

After dinner we went straight to bed. We had an early morning the next day!

Coming up, adventures in Tortola, British Virgin Islands! :)

I forgot to mention that my sister, Cody, and I went to The Tube for Match your Mate on Monday night. It was absolutely hilarious!!! Here's the only picture I took.

Tuesday, Oct. 9 - Tortola, BVI

Good morning Tortola!

We had room service breakfast and coffee out on the verandah this morning. I can't believe I didn't take a picture! Anyways soon after we headed to the Walt Disney Theater to wait for our excursion

Soon we were off the ship. It's always amazing to look up at the ship and see just how grand she is!

You can see that light pole on the right is still damaged (i'm assuming from the hurricane)

Our excursion today was a trip around the island and a few hours spend at Cane Garden Bay. Let's go!

We stopped up on top of a mountain (not sure where exactly) to have a 360 view.

We did get rained on a bit this day, but it didn't last long

We made it to Cane Garden Bay! We rented some chairs and umbrellas (I think chairs were $5 and umbrellas were $10?) and settled in for about 2 hours of beach time. The beach was gorgeous and I could've spent more time there. Next time we will just take a taxi straight there and hang out. They had a bar and grill set up and a gift shop, plus public bathrooms (but those were pretty funky).

On the way back to the ship, we went around to the other side of the island. I grabbed a few pictures, but it started raining again and I wouldn't have been able to grab any good ones. Ya'll, the other "non-touristy" side of the island is a hot mess. There were boats piled up in the water, buildings still destroyed, trees down everywhere, piles of trash/debris etc. They still have some major work to do! The touristy side of the island had a few places where you could tell was damaged, but most of it looked nice.

I know it sounds like i'm complaining that part of the island was a mess, but they really are doing a great job at rebuilding their island. I guess it was just a shock to see. I've never seen hurricane damage like that before.

We got back on the ship and changed into dry clothes. Aubs went to the kids clubs and some of us got back out to go shopping.

My mom, MIL, and I had $1 rum shots in here.

And back to the ship

Crew members working hard!

Just for fun here's the bridge view

Typically Aubs spends about 1 hour or so in the kids clubs before she is ready to be picked up (the CM's will notify you via the DCL app and a text is sent to your wave phone). Today she was there almost 3 hours which shocked me. When I picked her up she looked like this. They did a Lion Guard activity and she had a blast!

Tonight was pirate night! We were back in Royal Court for dinner.

The ceiling in Royal Court is so cute
