Trip Report Our French chansons and a couple of hiccups trip report to Disneyland Paris

Good morning/day/evening everyone! I know most of the TR’s that appear on this forum are mainly written after a magical trip to The World but this is one from his smaller little ( European) brother, Disneyland Paris. Yep that’s right, a TR from DLRP! First off, you might need a short introduction from my travelling party and myself.

So without further due, my name is Laurence ( 24 yo) and the one who insists on yearly trips to DLRP
DSC00259.JPG
. And I am travelling with my sister, Alix ( 21 yo) and the person who’s bankrolling this all, my Daddy, Dominique (age unknown : Top secret :D)
DSC00270.JPG

Oh yes, our names might give the slight impression that we are from France but don’t be mistaken, we come from the lovely country full of beer, fries and chocolate, Belgium! One word: DELICIOUS ;-) ! As said in my PTR we are staying there on the 3th and 4th of February.

How do we start this TR? Oh yes, because we live relatively close to Disneyland Paris, my dad opts to drive to Disneyland. When we left our hometown (small village, nothing to see, seriously!) it was around 8 AM (I am, at this point, fully awake and super excited. My sister could, at this time of day, pass for a very good version of “Sleepy”. So to battle the sleepy mode, Alix got out her old Gameboy!
DSC00368.jpg

Don’t know where she got that idea but we’ve been playing on the N64 since a couple of days ( yes we get a bit nostalgic during the holidays :D)

We always tend to arrive around noon so we (hopefully) don’t need to wait until we can drop our bags in the hotel room. The ride was uneventful but we had a good laugh during our short stop.
DSC00379.jpg

My sister decided not to stretch her legs and dad gave her the keys to lock herself in ( don’t know why but Alix felt unsafe..) and when we headed into the rest stop my dad told me “I don’t know if Alix realizes that when she moves, the car alarm will go off.” I laughed at the real probability... and we were right! When we came back she told my dad “Oh god, the alarm went off!”... Haha the look on her face was priceless!

Oho, 31 more km and we were officially there !
DSC00380.jpg

We only live 4 hours away from Paris but oh we got there in 3,5 hours.. (I wasn’t driving! Don’t blame me..). We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel for two days. Regular room, no Castleclub level (what a shame, I rooted for it but it’s just a tad bit too pricy .. even at the lowest season). Castle Club could be compared, I guess, with the Concierge Level of a WDW hotel? In Paris it comes with a separate check-in, a separate elevator to the CC level (elevator is right next to the entrance gates of the Disneyland park and only accessible with your CC hotel room keycard). Anyway I couldn’t care less if it was Castle Club or a regular room, I’m back in my happy place for the next 2 days !

So while my dad and sister were checking in, I was playing the ultimate tourist: taking pictures like it would be my last ones (mental note: this is my last trip in February... I start working next year in the Audit department of EY and February is known as a busy season.. snif snif ).

DSC00385.jpg

So, I don’t know how many people here ever experienced the Disneyland Hotel but that smell... HOLY MOTHER, I am truly HOME ! It’s their home perfume and it just smells lovely ( Reminder : get yourself a d*mn bottle Laurence so you can have it at your dorm room)!
DSC00387.jpg

So by the time I’ve shot some pictures ( and shed some tears.. baby Laurence), we have the permission to access our room.
We were situated at the WEST wing on the 1st floor, room no. 3124. Normally the rooms aren’t ready until 3 PM but February is known as a very low season so this checks out quite well.

The evening part of our first Disney day is coming right up :)

...

After BTM we had a brilliant idea to do SM, PotC and BTM ( again but at nightfall) under an hour and 30 minutes. Ready? Set? Walk like some crazy tourists!

Here are some pictures from la Cabane des Robinson and the piratesboat.

We first headed to the Pirates, then did the SM and by then my head was pounding. SM is so rusty that my head rocked around during the SM. But we were on a mission!

We finished with the BTM. A golden tip for everyone who’s gonna ride the BTM in DLRP. When you need to choose between the left and right lane, take the left one. We literally passed 50 people by taking the left lane. Winner, winner, chicken dinner! I particularly love the BTM pictures during twilight. And like I said, Take Two of our selfie was a success !

By then it was 18.45 PM. We had 15 min left to go to the Hub to look at the Disney Dreams show. I never thought I would break a sweat in Disney but by the time we were on location, I was feeling a bit hot!

I really like this picture. Taking pictures at nightfall is really a very good time :)

D*mn, those fireworks give me serious chills! I have a video on my phone from the one of last year. Those were spectacular.A picture overload from the show will follow. My first try-out of fireworks was blurry but I switched to another program and I had a far, far better result. Me very very happy ! We will be seeing these only once. By tomorrow night we will be a) still eating b) driving home. But for now still one magical evening ahead.

Blurry attempt.. I was a bit ed after 8 takes and I only had blurry ones but then I switched in a different mode and .. well I leave you to it, to look at the pictures :)

So, where did we left this TR? ah yes, the Disney Dreams show !

After the Show we headed back to the hotel. For those moments I am very happy/grateful that we stayed in the Disneyland Hotel. We were in our room 10 minutes after the show ended.

My dad hoped to make reservations at the Californa Grill BUT due to a refurb in the buffet restaurant “Inventions” they used the space of California Grill to use it as a buffet place for the Guests. My dad, who likes good food and some quiet time at night, was euhm.. not in his best mood when he got the news.So.. he decided to make reservations in the Manhattan Restaurant in the New York hotel at 8.30 PM.

Okay, fine by us but by the time we were back at our room, Alix took a bit of a cold and my dad didn’t wanted to head out anymore. A quick call to the “restaurant reservation” number and we switched our reservation into a 9 PM reservation in the Californian Grill temporary buffet. I can still hear my Dad say : “ Gah, a buffet... I don’t like this but to compensate we will drink a good bottle of wine!”. Whatever you like daddy, it will probably be very good !

After we changed into some smarter clothes, we headed down to the Café Fantasia to have “un appéritive”. We sat in a very comfy sofa and I ordered a Caipurinia. Oh god, It was delicious!! Sitting here is so nice. The huge birdcage and the piano only add up to the very nice atmosphere.

Around 9, we moved over to the Cali. We were seated at a table in a corner where we culd talk a sit a bit longer that most of the families do .We really like to sit down and talk/laugh during our dinner. It is no exception when we dine during a solid three hours. Superb! Here you can see that the kitchen of the Cali Grill was not in full swing anymore. During our late dining hour, the big rush already passed. They kept on serving food on the buffet until 23 PM. During our meal we encountered a couple of Disney Characters. Very funny ! The White Rabbit even sat with us to join our dinner !

After our dinner we headed over to the shop in the hotel. We thought it was open until midnight but it closed earlier than expected. Okay, my purchase of the ambient spray will be for tomorrow. Dad wasn’t ready to go to bed yet so we sat again in the sofa’s to order a last drink in the Café Fantasia. We had a last glass of champagne. A toast to a wonderful day! By the time we climbed in bed it was half past midnight. Nighty night folks !

Hello everybody! Sorry for the long wait !! Mes excuses ! I will continue with the start of day 2. short post now but will post more later on today !

..

After a “good “night of sleep... okay I’m lying big time here. My sister and I spent an hour long secretly laughing in our pillows because our dad had a bit of a “snoring” case. Rhythmic snoring pattern.. longer than Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and louder than Metallica. I hope our neighbors didn’t catch anything of this concert :s ! But we smiled because breakfast was on our mind. I normally don’t eat a lot during breakfast but with an extended buffet as this one at California Grill, it’s hard to resist all the good food. So we went for our first round of delicious food. Again I was so hungry that I didn't wait to took some pictures from my food. But imagine a full plate of deliciousness ;)

view from our table:
DSC00699.JPG

Oh bacon, bacon, bacon, I hate you but I love you so much more... My sister opted for a similar start and enjoyed the hot croissant with a splash of Nutella on top while dad went for a full English breakfast. After our ..th round ( with a bit of shame and a round tummy), we left the hotel and geared up for a start at the Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

DSC00709.JPG

oh hello!
DSC00710.JPG

Here once again we followed our usual/traditional path but there were some bumps in the road. While we usually start with the Armageddon but I already read that it was closed for a refurb.

DSC00728.JPG

So we started with some "shopping" ;) I love this picture.. Says enough how we happy we were there!

DSC00715.JPG

Further we proceeded to The Rock ‘n Roller Coaster!! I know it’s early but my sister insisted on doing this one first. Hopefully my bacon will stay put.. Anyway 5 minutes of wait sure will help the digestion eh?

DSC00755.JPG

Here is a look of how the French RNRC looks like. No need to convince you here but the WDW version ( exterior deco) is much much more sophisticated. This just looks like a very large carton board with a hangar lying behind it were there ‘might’ be some roller coaster.
But the inside is quite nice. The pré-attraction where you hear Aerosmith is okay ..The good stuff only starts through the doors on the left ..

DSC00724.JPG

My sister wanted to sit up front so we waited our turn. I sat alone/with Dad . That feeling when the clock is ticking down and you get to “1”, I don’t think I need to tell you how thrilling that is ;) !
