Pre-Trip Our First Sister Trip! Contemporary Resort!

Hi everyone! This is my first ever pre-trip report, so please bear with me. (If you have any trip report tricks and tips that would be much appreciated!)

WHY: It hasn't been 84 years, but it sure does feel like forever since I've been to Walt Disney World. My last trip was in 2013 and it was absolutely wonderful. I went with my parents, my sister, her boyfriend, and my boyfriend. We shared two connecting rooms at the Polynesian and stayed for 8 days, 7 nights over Easter Break.

After that, several things got in the way of returning to THE WORLD. We couldn't afford to take the whole family again, my boyfriend couldn't afford to go nor could he get the vacation days, and my sister has been in college unable to take time off. (Yes, they do get summer and winter breaks, but she was going to school throughout both of them the past couple of years!)

A couple of family members and friends were talking more and more about their upcoming trips to WDW this year, which caused me to realize some things. I've never used a Magic Band (AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO! I need to do more research!) I haven't seen the MK's new (new to me) 3pm show. I haven't ridden the Mine Train yet, nor have I seen any of the new scenes in Star Tours. I've been listening to the WDW loops nonstop any chance I get. I was seriously missing Disney and I needed to find a way to go.

My parents are unable to go this year due to my mom having her second hip replacement surgery. My dad will be staying home and taking care of her. I knew my boyfriend couldn't go, but the #1 person I really wanted to go to WDW with was my sister. I bribed and bribed and bribed her, and finally one handbag and blazer (and offer to pay for the trip) later, my sister agreed to take a few days out of her busy schedule to come with me this summer!!

As promised, here are our ADRs and our plans.
**These are subject to change, as I am not sure how Rivers of Light will factor into this. Hopefully it will be open while we are there, but since we don't know times, we can't plan around it. If anyone has any info/suggestions that would be greatly appreciated!**

Anywho, let me know what you guys think! There's always room to move some stuff around. I'm bummed this time that we'll be missing out on eating at the 50's Prime Time, but we switched that out in favor of Teppan Edo since we have never eaten there before.

What an amazing idea!!!
Thank you!!! :)

Even from someone like me who doesn't prepare at all, I have to say that your little itinerary booklets are just the cutest and most practical things! Well done!
Haha, thank you!! They are definitely super helpful and a great tool to use as a quick reference. I've used something similar on a trip once before ... and with this trip being so few days I'm hoping it will really help us out!

we are in the single digits!!
now less than 5 full days to go!! Last week I decided I wasn't going to bring my DSLR, and so I knew I was only going to be able to use my old Canon PowerShot. I wanted a new one, so I ended up buying this one!

The red is so vibrant and I really love the image quality of the pictures. I still need to do some things to set it up correctly but I will definitely have it up and running before the trip! So excited!!!

Sounds like you have a great plan. I've noticed as I've gotten older I like Epcot more and more. Not just you can eat and drink in WS, but I like not having to deal with lines for periods of time. Epcot rarely has lines to get a drink and just stroll around the shops and such.
Thanks!! & YES! That's part of what I like so much about Epcot as well. The World Showcase has such a relaxing vibe about it and as I got older I've started to appreciate it more and more!

I've been thinking ... does anyone have any tips on how to make the best trip report? I have my ~*new*~ camera, so I will be taking plenty of photos. However, I've seen around these boards that a lot of people take notes while they are there so they don't forget anything! I tend to take so many pictures that they can serve as notes sometimes so I didn't know if I need to. I just don't want to miss too much of the magic by constantly transcribing. However, my memory is often awful and I don't want to forget any detail! What do you guys do?

I don't write anything down. Each morning, I take a screenshot of our ADR's/FP's and then I take so many pictures during the day, that it's pretty much a photo journal. I never have a problem remembering when I get home what we did! Just take lots of pictures! :)

I don't know that I write the BEST trip reports, but mine are pretty thorough. I take lots of pictures and only occasionally take notes in my phone notes app if there's something I think I won't remember from photos. Some photos don't make it into the actual TR because they are poor quality placeholders to help me remember. When I'm ready to actually write the TR I look at the photos and our MDE itinerary for each day to see FPs, dining reservations, etc.

For our trip last fall I spent a few minutes at the end of the first couple of days writing down notable things that happened. Cute little stories, favorite things I did, etc.. That didn't last past a few days though because I was too lazy. I feel like I forgot a lot for my last two reports, so they end up being a "highlights" kind of thing. What kind of camera did you get?! It's so fun to try out a new camera on vacation :) (edited: nvm, I just remembered you posted a link before)

I use a combination of pictures and notes stored on my phone to piece together the trip after the fact.
Thanks! That sounds like a good on the go way to go! :)

Haha I will definitely have no problem taking a lot of pictures! I always end up with at least 1,000 once I get home.

A lot of people like seeing some of the newer things at wdw bc you never know when a persons last visit was. The food pictures at good restaurants always are intriguing to me along with beverages.
Those are awesome suggestions, thank you so much! I always take tons of pictures of food so I will make sure to not miss any this trip. :)

Using placeholder pictures is a great idea! I didn't even think of that. Thanks for the advice!

haha I could see myself getting lazy about that too after a couple of days! Especially with being so tired from the parks. &LOL I'm glad I saw your edit because I was just about to send it to you again! I didn't want to bring my old point and shoot because the quality wasn't as good as my DSLR, and I didn't want to bring the DSLR on such a short trip so this one hopefully will be a happy middle! Also, the zoom on this thing is OUT OF THIS WORLD

So now that I have finally finished and set our itinerary ... I made some little booklets for me and my sister to have. We have the trip planned down to the hour for most things, so this will definitely be handy for us! LITERALLY, as it fits in the palm of our hands.

Just got caught up. Love the itinerary booklets. I may have to steal the idea for our next family trip! Hope you and your sister have an awesome trip. I look forward to reading your TR.
