Pre-Trip Our first ever deluxe vacation...could it be?!

We have an opportunity to travel with a friend with whom we had lost touch for a few years, who just so happens to be a DVC member. We are still in the discussion stage, but we are very excited about the possibility of a deluxe vacation at...wait for it...The Polynesian!! She can't book the room until April, but fingers crossed that this all works out. We weren't going to take a long trip this year since we are cruising next February, but how can we pass up a room at the Poly?! Simple answer...we can't!!

Stay tuned....

Yesterday we did the double digit dance!! Time is going so quickly and 98 days from today we will be heading toward Orlando. The final plans are set and we will spend the first night at All Star Movies, followed by 2 nights at The Contemporary and 4 nights at The Polynesian! Our friend is coming for dinner Saturday night so that we can make our final selections and decide on fast passes. Summer is going to fly and before we know it, we will be on our way. I can hardly wait!

We are so bummed. We read last night that Small World is going to be closed for refurbishment while we are there. It is my daughter's most favorite ride in all 4 parks and one of only two that she actually asks for. When you have a child who has limited verbal ability and cannot communicate her wants and needs effectively, this is a big deal. I am 100% confident that she will mention it the minute we step into Magic Kingdom and she won't understand why we can't ride. :-( Fortunately she likes the teacups, too, so we will just have to take a few extra spins this trip! She's an easy-going, go with the flow kid, and it won't set her back for long, but she will surely be disappointed. Oh well! Maybe we will discover a new favorite this trip! 93 days and counting!

that kinda stinks - but like you said, maybe you'll find a new favorite.

Sooooo....an exciting update!! Dennis was doing some "just for fun" searching on Southwest Airlines on Saturday night and came across nonstop round trip flights for $140 per person. Are you kidding me?!! YES!!! We had to book an extra night at the beginning and end of our trip, but it really only added on extra night because we were going to stop and stay somewhere on the way home anyway. So, we book-ended our trip at All Star Movies! This will mean a 9 night trip (our longest one ever) and moving rooms 4 times during that time. Its not ideal to move that much, but, heck, we are at Disney so who really cares! :-) This means instead of 30 hours in the car, we can spend 4 hours in a plane and add 2 extra days to our trip! Woo Hoo!! We will book our Fastpasses on Sunday. It's gettin' real!

Wow! That's great! I can't wait until the day we can fly down (we live in MD) and not drive, but it's always SO expensive, that I just can't justify it.

So here is the (hopefully) final set of plans for our trip.

Aug 25-27-All Star Movies We plan to spend these two days lounging by the pool and exploring Disney Springs. There is a chance we will add an extra days' ticket, but we are going to wait and decide that once we get down there.

Aug 27th- EPCOT. Our friend will arrive Saturday morning and will get us checked into the Contemporary and meet us at the park. We have FP+ for the Disney Pals meet and greet at 10:20, Frozen Ever After at 2:00 and Turtle Talk at 3:10. Dinner will be at Tutto Italia at 5:15. We plan to stay for Illuminations if we can make it that long.

Aug 28th- Magic Kingdom (Our friend will be going to Hollywood Studios on this day) FP+ for Mine Train at 9:05, Pirates at 11:20 and Little Mermaid at 12:20. Dinner will be at the Grand Floridian for our first ever 1900 Park Fare experience. We will probably take a break in the afternoon on this day so that we can either return to Magic Kingdom for Wishes, or, depending on our room location at Bay Lake Tower, watch from our balcony. We have also considered watching from the observation deck there as well.

Aug 29th check into The Polynesian. This will be our rest day. Breakfast is at 8:10 at 'Ohaha with Lilo and Stitch. The rest of the day will be spent lounging by the pool and enjoying some adult beverages. We will enjoy Wishes either from our balcony or sitting by the pool!

Aug 30- EPCOT We have breakfast planned with Chip and Dale at 8:20 and FP+ for Soarin' at 9:00, Mission Space at 10:10 and Nemo at 11:25. We will also be finishing our "drinking around the world" task. Yikes! We don't typically drink much, but our friend insisted we complete this, so we will do our best by sharing most of the beverages. We will probably take a break during the heat of the afternoon and come back for Illuminations if we miss it the first time.

Aug 31- Animal Kingdom. We intend to spend an entire day at AK which is something we have never done, even though it is the hottest place on the planet! :-) We begin our day with Breakfast at Tusker House at 8:20 with the Jungle Book dining package. FP+ for the day include Nemo at 1:30, and the Safari at 7:00 and Expedition at 8:00. Looking forward to seeing both of those things at night. We will stay for the first viewing of the Jungle Book show as well.

Sept 1- Magic Kingdom- sadly our very last park day- We made lunch reservations at Skipper Canteen and FP+ for Tales with Belle at 9:00, Mine Train at 10:05 and Splash Mountain at 11:10. We have dinner reservations at BOG for 6:00.

Sept 2- check out...BOO HISS! Our friend has a late afternoon flight home and we will move back to Movies sometime during the day. We plan to get a Tonga Toast breakfast and spend the last few hours at the pool before departing the Deluxe and heading back to the Value. :-(

Sept 3- Flight home early in the morning...Double BOO HISS!!

On a fun note, I got in touch with a friend of a friend who works as a Concierge at The Contemporary last night just to let him know we would be there and hoped that we would get to see him while we are there. He asked me for our confirmation number so that he can hopefully "Sprinkle some Pixie Dust"! Yipeee!!! His wife works at EPCOT, too, so hopefully we will be able to connect with both of them. It has been several years since we have seen either of them. This trip could be more epic than we thought!!

57 days and counting.....

Your plans look great! Glad you were able to get FP+ for Frozen Ever After. We love Tutto Italia. The Jungle Book show at AK looks like fun. Hope you enjoy it. Hope you have lots of pixie dust.

I feel for you! Small World is Hope's favorite ride too. Two years ago, when Philharmagic was down - another one of her favorites, we prepared her before we left home and it ended up being a good call. She was still disappointed, but it wasn't such a shock. Have an awesome time! Can't wait for the Deluxe TR!

Yes, yes and YES!!!! It helps that our luggage tags arrived last week! Tomorrow we can order our BOG lunch. By the end of the week we will say, "Wr are going to Disney THIS MONTH!"

It's coming so close! And that is so great! Although the period of pre feelings is also great! Especially because when the pre feelings are over.... well.. better not speak out :) Good luck with ordering BOG!

Magic Bands are on their way, BOG lunch is ordered, and the final plans with our friend will be set by tomorrow afternoon. We will have 4 different sets of Magic Bands for this trip! LOL We color-coded them and labeled the insides with the associated resort so we could keep them straight. We are hoping they will be able to combine everything onto one so we don't have to switch them out, but the good news is, they will make a cute garland for our Christmas tree if nothing else! :-) 26 Days!!!!!

You will only need one set for the entire trip as any linked band will work so feel free to leave the others at home. One bit of advice, when going from one resort to another, be sure to go to the front desk and check out of that resort before moving on to the next resort. If your room happens to be ready at the second resort but you are still checked in at the previous one you will have issues trying to get into the new room. If you forget to do this the CM at the new resort can check you out from the previous resort too.

And yes, they make to great garland:
