Trip Report Our First Disney Cruise...it was "Magic"al!!

Well we are all settled back in at home, routines are in order - back to work; back to school and thank goodness for pictures on my phone that I can look at to reminisce about the wonderful trip we had (remember when you had to rush to the photo booth at your local Walgreens with your 15 rolls of film to be processed so you could finally see your pictures only to realize half on the roll weren't even good:joyfull:)! Our trip was amazing! From start to finish, I wouldn't change a thing and feel so blessed we were given this opportunity by my husband's parents to go on this trip.

I'm still getting my notes and pictures in order, but wanted to get this TR started to force me to do this! I've been reading so many great TR's over the last couple weeks (and trying to get to those I haven't read yet!) and wanted to join in the fun too:)

So for those who didn't see my very brief PTR, my husband's parents took the entire family (13 of us) on the cruise to celebrate their upcoming 50th wedding anniversary. We were on the Disney Magic from February 26th through March 3rd. We ported out of Miami and our stops were Grand Cayman and of course, Castaway Cay (which I think if we would have docked the ship there the entire five days I would have been okay with that:inlove:).

I won't bring in the extended family too much as I'm not sure if they want pictures of themselves floating around on wdwmagic, so you will most likely see me (Chris), my husband (Brian) and our 14 year old daughter (Emily)!

I will get to our first day soon, but I will leave you with this photo (disclaimer - I am NOT a photographer and all of my pictures were taken on my phone, but it's the thought that counts;)!). Couldn't you just look at this view all day long:inlove: (sorry about a shirtless Brian...but hey we were on vacation...in the sun:joyfull:)

Final Thoughts:

We had an amazing time on the Disney Cruise. I would highly encourage anyone possibly thinking to just do it! As mentioned, it is a very different vacation from the Disney Parks, but still very enjoyable. We relaxed a lot more and we weren’t running from one place to another, but still feel like we had plenty to do when we wanted to. And it still had the Disney feel too. From the décor, to the cast member name tags, to the gift shops, to the Disney music piped in all over the ship.

The staff is simply amazing. We didn’t walk past one person who didn’t say “good morning (or afternoon, or evening)” or “how are you” or “is there anything I can help you with”, etc. One day I stopped back in our room and our room attendant was in cleaning and she notice my sunburn. She went and got me some after sun gel to use (even though I told her we had already had some, but it was a cream, not a gel), she went anyway and told me this stuff was better! And it was! It’s the little things like this that just made our trip so great. Even at dinner – Mo and Santiago addressed each of us by our first names and would ask if we wanted our usual drink(s) for dinner and we had them within minutes of sitting down. And the staff that would come up to talk to us on Deck 10….they all addressed us by our first names.

As mentioned before, the Magic is the smallest of the Disney Cruise Line fleet. But we felt it was the perfect starter cruise for us as we were able to navigate where we needed to go and got used to the ship very quickly and never got lost. I would love to try a larger ship on our next cruise, and definitely a longer trip too!

Unfortunately though Disney is one of the pricier cruise lines out there.

Thanks to all for reading along! I enjoyed reliving my trip through my notes and my photos and it’s so great having an outlet such as this to be able to do so and have those other Disney fans want to read about your adventures! I love reading about others’ as well and am looking forward to reading more (there’s a lot more I need to get to – ha!).

And, I am excited to report that we are going to WDW in August (we’ve started “training” for this trip by sitting in a sauna:hilarious:)! We only have a room reserved so far, so more plans to come soon, but I am just so excited to be going back to WDW! We haven’t been since June of 2015 and I know there are so many new things to see and do:)

I could almost feel the soft sand in my toes, and the sadness of the last day.

Loved the report and have fun in August!

Thank you for following:happy: We are definitely getting excited....we have the Beach Club booked, but now I'm leaning toward maybe trying the Yacht Club, like you! I saw some pictures of the refurbished rooms and now thinking maybe trying something new. But we shall see! I'll definitely start a PTR once we have more details!

Loved your report!!! It was a nice way to daydream while at work ;). I'm glad you all enjoyed the trip and I hope you do a report for your trip in August!

Awww, thank you! It was a nice way to daydream for me too:joyfull: We've all been there - you plan and plan and plan and then poof, the vacation is over and then all you can do is daydream over what was:inlove: I've never done a TR before and I think I will do one for August too since I've not done a WDW one, it would be another good way to reflect back!

Thanks Max - happy to have had you following along!

I only put that because when we were in WDW in June of 2015 it was sooooo hot! I figured if it was that hot in June, it has to be hotter in August:joyfull:

Sold! Someday I will book a cruise! :D

Yay - I hope you do:happy::happy:

We did WDW in August once............once!

Ri-donk-u-lass-ly hot and humid

We had done DLR in August the two years before and then just were gobsmacked by the weather in Florida.

California is amazing in mid to late August
Warm but not humid

Consider that trip in the future if you can swing it

Yeah, I'm a little afraid of that, but if we want to go again this year, this is the only week we can do it because of Brian's work schedule:grumpy: But maybe I'll have some good stories after the trip:joyfull::joyfull:

Some day we'll do DLR. It may be once Emily is an adult, but it is definitely on our list!
