So, there are the oscar nominees for this year. Pretty Mediocre IMO. While I'm happy some of the films are nominted for what they deserve ( Wallace and Gromit for best animated film, War of the Worlds for sound, Kning Kong and Narnia for best SFX, ect. ) However, I am EXTREMELY upset about the music nominations. Where's Batman Begins?! Where's Wallace and Gromit?! Where's King Kong?! Where's Narnia?! All those scores were some of the best scores of the year, and not one of them were nominted.

How many of the movies that were nominated over your favorites have you actually seen?

Reg...I'm with you on Crash. I doubt it will win, but here's hoping.

I thought it was a huge oversight that "Walk the Line" wasn't nominated for Best Picture. I will say, I haven't seen the ones that were nominated, and they could very well be excellent and deserving of the nomination. But I can't imagine that all five of them were any better than "Walk the Line." I thought it was phenominal.

"Crash" is on my list of DVD's to rent soon-I really want to see it!

Yeah I don't think it will win...but I'm glad it was acknowledged...and hey, they won for best ensemble at the SAG's :D Brokeback Mountain was a good movie, so yeah it'll probably win.

Walk the Line...I don't think it was so good as the actors were, which is why they were nominated. Kinda like Johnny Depp being nominated but POTC not being nominated. Johnny made that movie, and Reese and Joaquin made Walk the Line.

My opinion of course

I haven’t seen the nominated movies either, except for Crash. Then again I always say, “I haven’t watched any of the nominated films. “
Eh, I have different taste than the academy and frankly I only watch it to see what the stars are wearing.

And Jill, there is one scene in Crash that you will need a tissue.

Star Wars only got one nomination?!?! I thought it was worth a Best Picture nod.

BTW, I found out that One Man Band is a short from PIXAR. My guess is that it will be released in front of Cars.

She was pretty bad. And I thought she was decent in the first one. Haha.

I want Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon to win too, just because I like them.

I was disappointed the Emmylou Harris song from Brokeback wasn't nominated. They only nominated 3 songs. What's up with that? Also I felt that Dianne Keaton should have been nominated for Family Stone.

Wouldn't it be funny if Brokeback mountain started sweeping all of the awards at the oscars, then suddenly best picture comes up, and it looses to Munich, or Crash or something? Man, that would be the funniest thing ever...

Gosh, I just re-read the whole list again, and all of my favourite movies this year got snubbed big time.

Batman Begins only got ONE crummy little nomination for best Cinematography

Harry Potter only got one nomination for best art direction ( which is surprising, because it basically re-uses sets from the last movies )

Narnia only got 3 awards which its not going to win. I still can't believe it didn't get nominated for best score. What about art direction?! Costume design? Cinematography? Heck, Tilda Swinton seriously should've atleast been considered for best supporting actress.

King Kong didn't get best picture like I'd hoped or best Director, because it was a masterpiece IMO. It will win best visual effects by far, but it still only has a couple other really minor nominations.

And Star Wars, poor star wars. Only best make up?! It got snubbed for visual effects, and I really think that Ian McDiarmid deserved a best supporting actor nomination. He was just amazing in his role.

All in all, this is a very dissapointing oscar year.

That's what I was wondering. Only 3 songs are nominated? I thought there were usually at least 5. Maybe that's their way of cutting down the time, by not having to perform the extra 2 songs.

Should I be afraid? I've only seen three of the movies that have been nominated for anything, and I've never heard of Crash until I read the list......:lookaroun
