Osborne lights

sxeensweet

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Any news on whether or not these will be shown for the 2015 holiday season?
Thanks
Yes they will be there this year last I heard.
Also I talked and someone in front of me talked, to one of the higher ups last year while at the lights and he pretty much without fully saying it said they will not be going anywhere anytime soon. He said he had heard that rumor and grinned and said something to the above. I think he was one of the head engineers or such and don't remember his name. He had a name tag with his title I should have taken a pic of it. Haha
Take that with a grain of salt but this year though you are safe. :)

Thanks, all replies sound promising. We've never seen them and were hoping since this was our first time going around the holidays that we would be able to.

Don't get your expectations up too high... I think that was our mistake when we went around Christmas time.... The movie with Danny Devito comes to mind when you see them... overkill to the point of not really being cool just very over the top like what you would expect if a vegas strip casino tried to do Christmas.

Totally disagree!! We see them every single time and still get awed and don't find its anything like if Vegas did Christmas lights etc. It's not just lights it's lights that go with the music and we have to listen to all songs play at least once with the lights moving etc each time. Yes other people do this even in my home town but never awed me like the Osborne Lights and we have some pretty impressive ones in my area too. Sorry you did not like them but everyone I know is more on the side of being awed every time they get to see them. :)

I think it is probably depends on what you are used to and what you expect... I've seen the synchronized lights and I can appreciate them when done tastefully, but too many lights to the point that it is as bright as day doesn't strike me as artistic as much as overkill.

LOL what? Isn't overkill what the whole Osborne lights are about?? I also don't get your analogy to a Vegas strip casino. What exactly were you expecting? Subtlety?

I have seen many done well and tastefully/ not over done around my city/area for years and still feel the same about the impressive Osborne lights. The Osborne lights still give me chills esp during certain music pieces. :)

Subtlety no... but also not something so flashy and trashy that you could see if from a plane flying over.

I think years ago it was a novelty. People decorated their houses and yards but no one went to the extremes like they do now. Disney gave us a show like no one had seen before. The first year we saw the Osbourne lights it was the first time I had ever seen so many decorations and lights in one area. I was floored, I was in Christmas heaven. Now you can see things like this, (only on a smaller scale), in every town. There are neighbors trying to outdo one another, city Christmas light contests, and TV shows that have Christmas light/music contests. So Disney doesnt have the uniqueness it once did. But I still love it... I'd love to see it more years to come and would hate to see it go away. Bring on the lights and the music.... the more the better I say.

I adore Osborne Lights :) A lot of the buzz I've heard says we'll know more come D23 as a lot of people are speculating DHS plans may be revealed at that time...which would provide clarification with Osborne Lights and would come just before the normal start date for putting up the lights. So, between Aug 14-16 is when some are saying we'll know more.
