I've heared whisperings and rumors that the Osborne lights or some sort of Christmas lights extravaganza could possibly make its way to EPCOT, seeing that it is done for good in DHS. Has anyone else heared anything about this?

It's been muttered about since they announced the end of Osborne lights. Depending on which reports you believe, most of what made them the Osborne lights was sent back to the family, so any new display (if they were to do one) would be something different.
So I guess Disney was falsely advertising the spectacle of dancing lights when they should have been promoting it as the "Small Percentage of Lights Provided by the Osborne Family and the Rest We Threw In With Them Spectacle of Dancing Lights".

If I remember right, the lights themselves were Disney's, but the framework and displays and such were the Osborne Family's.

Yes. And a large number of the actual lights were new each year. 2 months outdoors in all sorts of weather was hard on the lights.

The majority of the actual twinkle lights on the buildings were cut down - as in with a knife - after each season.

It cracks me up that people actually think it was the same lights year after year, even when they switched to LED's a few years back. They took a knife every year and cut them down.

I wish they would bring back the beautiful group of colorfully lighted arches that connected Future World with World Showcase during the holiday season. They were quite beautiful.

They had an arch leading into World Showcase, I think called Lights of Winter? But, yeah, I was very sad when that went away.

I wonder what the cost was to purchase the lights each and every year for 20 years... I mean, I'm sure they got a discount. But still, it has to be quite a decent amount. Someone earned a lot of airline miles each year on their card! LOL
No. And doesn't need to come back. We need to get beyond staring wide eyed at a bunch of lights.
