Orlando's LM to be "slightly longer and a lot better"

I just went to a talk today given by Len Testa. He totally doesn't think LM will open before December and he said that the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride was a mess and that he's heard it won't open until 2015.

Obviously, it's just gossip but I thought it was interesting.

Giving how quickly the foundation is coming along I highly doubt it will take 3 years from now to complete the Mine Train. I'm going up for aerials in a couple hours. We'll see how fast it's coming along.

If WWOHP took 18 months to construct, there is no reason whatsoever that a smallish roller coaster with two indoor show scenes should take three years.

They must be dragging it out for accounting reasons.

I think it's the other way around. I would expect things are starting to get fast tracked (there are now night-time construction crews working on Storybook Circus which implies that they have fallen behind schedule and need to work nights to make their deadline). The general consensus is that a lot of funding is being funneled into this project and the pressure is on for the higher-ups to hurry up and finish it so the rest of the park can get some attention as well.

I thought that too. He said there was some issue with the walkways and where they would be placed, etc.

If this is true then those two show scenes better be amazing.

( what is sad is that even potter phase 2 may be open before this if it is true)

Hope you have clear weather.
A week with almost no new photo's is making me nervous:eek:

Yes the weather was perfect! It felt like we were driving a Cadillac not flying a 172. It was the smoothest flight I have probably ever been on. Dumbo is gone except for the middle part and part of the load area. The pictures will be up this evening.

i hope orlandos version doesn't have cone head ariel....

Disneyland's version won't have the cone-head hairdo much longer either. According to Al Lutz last week...

The most noticeable change coming to the Mermaid ride will be a complete rework of the Ariel animatronic figure that appears in the big Under The Sea production number. Her swirling bouffant hairdo in that scene never quite looks right, and the hair on that figure will be changed for a more flowing version similar to the animated ‘do she sports at the beginning of the ride. Luckily for Imagineering there was an extra animatronic figure available that was slated to be used in the Florida version of the attraction, and they will instead send that figure to Anaheim after it receives its new look and reworked hairdo. A third version of that figure will then be created for the Florida version, based on the new look now headed to DCA.

Another change has been dictated by John Lasseter and...
Other changes coming to Anaheim's ride this spring with props, animation and lighting that should also be included in the WDW version in late '12 are at the recent Lutz article: http://miceage.micechat.com/allutz/al011712a.htm

Good news for both coasts! :sohappy:

Almost, but most attention on that date will be directed elsewhere ;-)

I assume you're talking about Epcot's 30th. My understanding was that this is being handled entirely by the D23 team, so while I would expect some good nostalgia, I wouldn't expect anything in the way of announcements.

I've heard they are making some tweaks to it...but not sure how it can be a "lot better" if it's only "slightly longer".

I dont think that the length of a ride has anything to do with the "betterness" of the ride. Maybe they are just adding more effects and making it more real? idk just my thoughts. More detailed?

I remember notes during testing of the ride in Anaheim that they tweaked the speed of the track up and down. A longer duration could be achieved by slowing down the omnimover ever so slightly.

At least someone inside the company is doing something... 25th was handled by a bunch of fans. (not that it was bad, but the company should have addressed it)

So... They will crank up the nostalgia just to remind us how much Future World sucks today in memory of what it once was???

I won't be there, but I'm hoping for throwback merchandise... and nice people to buy it for me.
