Of the places where Disney has meaningful operations, I would love to live in Connecticut, possibly tolerate living in Florida, and never-in-a-million-years live in California or New York City.Who wouldn’t want to move from SoCal to a beautiful Central Florida site with views of MCO?
It’s not the best part of Connecticut lol…easy access to a couple rollercoasters and…not much else.Of the places where Disney has meaningful operations, I would love to live in Connecticut, possibly tolerate living in Florida, and never-in-a-million-years live in California or New York City.
That's the whole point. I live in the woods where I can afford a big house on a large lot in an excellent school district. It's not what young, single people would be looking for, but families with children like big houses on large lots in excellent school districts. It’s not the best part of Connecticut lol…easy access to a couple rollercoasters and…not much else.
More bang for your buck in terms of FL real estate compared to outrageous CA , that's a selling point .Who wouldn’t want to move from SoCal to a beautiful Central Florida site with views of MCO?
Californians don’t like to sweat.More bang for your buck in terms of FL real estate compared to outrageous CA , that's a selling point .
I like seeing and smelling the ocean. That's the whole point. I live in the woods where I can afford a big house on a large lot in an excellent school district. Besides, nobody at ESPN lives in Bristol. They live in Avon, Farmington, Burlington, Southington, Cheshire, and West Hartford.
No one. LOL
He wasn't interested in moving. He is just sharing the communication confirming that it means his employment will end.I'm about as far from a Disney apologist as one can get (LOL, right?), but in this specific instance, Disney is not in the wrong. (I understand the underlying issues with relocating and the crappy way Disney went about it.)
He didn't give an answer within the 90 day timeframe, so Disney assumed he wasn't interested in moving. This one is all on him.
The homeless people are beautifully tanned.Doubtful. I would never relocate to cali for example even if work paid for it. I have no intrest in living in a place where i legitimately couldn't bring all of my personal property withiut becoming a felon. Than theres just the taxes...pretty gross stuff.
The smell of salt water is distinct along oceanfront CT and MA, in FL not so much. But in hurricane season the last place on wants to be is oceanfront.I like seeing and smelling the ocean.
They don't have a clue what a pre prep, riding out, and post clean up hurricane is all about especially when the gators and snakes get displaced after the storm.Californians don’t like to sweat.
If and when valuable talent is lost in the relocation process, this could create potential job openings for talent living in Central Florida or wanting to move to Central Florida and work for WDW.It's been a hot sec since I stated something, again this has nothing to do with real estate and more about work life balance. Whats to say Disney won't fire imagineers once we move to Lake Nona, those are questions being asked day in and day out by more than 1,900 people. Many of my mentors and colleagues have told me Disney hasn't felt this alien since the Miller years of Disney management. The company should be moving forwards not backwards as a whole or else all talent from every corner of the company will begin to look elsewhere. People only ever care to hear about the parks, resorts, and consumer products division. But they forget the same morale, same money pushing is being spread over to all divisions of the company. Morale wise just as Guest and consumers of Disney media franchises feel left out or cheaped out of a product, long time Cast Members are feeling the push as salaries are either cut, divisions torn apart, or just butchered to keep that bottom line positive. Disney will always inspire new talent. But as more people begin to realise what Disney has become over the last decade, talent won't want to risk feeling micromanaged by "shareholders". This is more than a 90 day notice, more than uplifting your family. It's the direction of corporate. It's the loss of Walt Disney's Original Vision for his company. Yeah he was greedy, cut corners to finance amazing projects that ended up having Roy save his back more than a few times. But this is not that same company. If guest feel they are being let down or unheard, imagine people who literally bleed to make the experiences people love and enjoy only to be told some computer software says it can be done with less aesthetic because 10 surveys told it people wouldn't care about that certain shade of colour. This is not Disney. This is the reality of what goes behind the scenes and Imagineers are now being more vocal than ever before about it. This move sucks, it's stupid and won't shut any cost. If anything the cost cutting is loosing valuable talent.
You make a good point but will Disney actually pay for the talent? I only say this because I've dug around in the IT field to see how much they pay and they really aren't competitive with any other company that actually wants a good infrastructure. Add on the cuts, aging infrastructure (they were still using POTS phones in food booths a few years ago. Something harder to manage and maintain then modern IP voice based systems), and issues we see on the outside, that should say what they're looking to spend in IT.If and when valuable talent is lost in the relocation process, this could create potential job openings for talent living in Central Florida or wanting to move to Central Florida and work for WDW.
Remains to be seen but for staff working in the Lake Nona area is a selling point of cheaper real estate in FL ( as opposed to crazy high real estate CA ).You make a good point but will Disney actually pay for the talent? Years ago I wanted to apply to work IT in the background. Talking to a few people in the park over the years that were in roughly the same field I'm in, hearing the hours, coorporate demands, budget they're given, made me glad I didn't waste the time.
Please stop lying. As I and others have pointed out repeatedly when you've said this before, NOBODY is having their salary cut. You've made this claim over and over again and it's false. It's been a hot sec since I stated something, again this has nothing to do with real estate and more about work life balance. And their money will go further in FL.Please stop lying. As I and others have pointed out repeatedly when you've said this before, NOBODY is having their salary cut. You've made this claim over and over again and it's false.
