Hunter's Creek and MetroWest are decent choices...both are 10-15 minutes from WDW.

Although It might seem great to be REALLY close to the attractions, the novelty will soon wear off when you realized that the traffic is worse, tourists can not drive, and you will have to drive further to work, or just about anything else you need to do.

I've got a pretty large two bedroom in Winter Park. My boyfriend and I split the $800 rent. You're really looking at between 650 for a basic one bedroom to astronomical amounts for some of the more posh developments.

For Hunter's Creek and MetroWest, 1BRs are $700-$1000, 2BR's are $800-$1600. All apartments are unfurnished, except for kitchen appliances. Some include a built-in microwave, and most have a Washer and Dryer, or at least, connections to hook-up your own.

Most apts in these 2 areas are less than 10 years old, which means they have built-in sprinkler systems, which is always nice.

Many of these communities have access control gates, which are always nice to have.

There is something on line called myapartmentguide.com and I think you can order a guide to be mailed to you. My cousin lived in an apartment off rte 192 behind the Cash n Carry Supermarket and they were very nice, don't recall the name. Then there was another complex she lived in that was off Dyer Street (near the Beall's Dept store) that was very nice and they had garbage pickup outside your front door several times a week, I think it was called Herron Lake or something like that.

And, hey, just because I'm a tourist doesn't mean I drive bad. I've been down there so many times, I know the roads well and let me tell you about the bad FL drivers that have cut me off. How can I tell they are from FL, because Osceola has no car inspections required, any old thing can be on the road until it dies, no matter how much toxins it spews into the air, so you know if you get cut off by some old jaloppy, they are from FL.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of tourists are not like the Disney/Orlando saavy individuals on these boards.

anyone know which ones allow pets? my sister and i are moving within the next year or so and we're bringing 3 cats with us.

Most allow pets but have a limit of two. They require a non refundable pet fee and a pet deposit (usually).
