We really had a blast dressing up on Formal night, Palo, and when we had to go to Remy. I just saw formal night is "optional" (kinda sorta) on 3 and 4 nighters...will we be the only ones in a suit and cocktail dress if we decide to dress up on the optional night?

Who cares? I often think on my way to dinner, when wearing a suit, am I overdressed? Then I think.... I might be overdressed compared to everyone else, but I look nice. I had rather look nice in a suit and be overdressed than be the underdressed guy that decided it was ok to wear jeans and flip flops.

We always over dress for the dining rooms. Also it depends on what dining room we are in for the night. In Animators we went a little more relaxed but Enchanted was a little fancier and Royal we went all out for.

We hate to dress up. Just too uncomfortable. We'll hit the minimums to avoid ruining someone else's good time but I can say in all honesty that we hate it. Passionately. We're just not dressy people, I guess.

My favorite outfit to see my old man in has to be jeans, tshirt, & flip flops. :D

Just like anywhere or anything else, I say do what's YOU and don't worry about the rest! If you like to dress up, do it! Even those of us who rebel and refuse will still admire how handsome your family looks. Seriously. I love the people-watching. Then there's those of us who find creative perspectives for dressing up...cannot wait for that morsel to come out in my TR! I've been biting my lip big time on this thread. I soooo want to show you what the guys came up with on the fly. They got a LOT of compliments!!!!

My wife and I will obviously be in an dress and suit when we go to Palo. On our last cruise I was in khakis and a polo or dress shirt and she was dressed nice as well. While I know that is sufficient, has anyone been turned away for dressing too casual? Also, what is the night dress code in Cabanas?

From Palo, yes. I have seen someone turned away wearing shorts.
From a main dining room, nope! It would never happen.
Cabanas is all casual all the time. :)

Cabanas dinner is totally casual. You could go in shorts and tshirt and be fine. When Tracey & I went the first time we wore the same thing we'd wear in a MDR and the service staff thought we were lost when we showed up dressed semi-nice. (I wore a casual sundress, he wore khakis and polo.) We assured them that we were where we intended to be, that we just dressed according to recommended evening dress. Very good meal. No complaints. We definitely out-dressed our fellow diners, tho. :)

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone being turned away from a MDR for insufficient dress. In fact, in January on the Magic a family near us showed up to every meal including formal night wearing denim shorts, wife beater tanks, and baseball caps. The gals were wearing overly tight jeans, very revealing tops, and sky-high platform shoes. It was an interesting family to say the least. At Palo or Remy if you buck the dress requirements you can and will be turned away. So take the specialty restaurant requirements literally. You really do have to hit those minimums or you won't be dining there.

@Disneyfalcon and @sweetpee_1993 thanks for the info. What's wrong with revealing tops and tight jeans? But seriously, there were some revealing wenches on Pirate Night, that even I, as a guy, felt were inappropriate for the venue. Since I'll be wearing a suit for Palo, I think I should be fine. Speaking of Cabanas dinner, what do they normally have?

Well, I suppose it's okay to dress that way....if you work in a certain..uh..industry it's prob'ly advantageous. o_O Every night was definitely a "wow" moment, that's for sure. To each their own. And, hey, I hope they had as magical a time as we did! :D

When in public, a person has no reasonable expectation of privacy when it comes to being photographed. Unless of course there is signage stating that photography is prohibited.
Agreed. However, sometimes in close quarters one must rely on common sense. They reeeeaally didn't look like the type to be happy being in someone else's pics. On shore when other circumstances (& permits ;) ) apply, different ballgame. KWIM???

We have always joked about how many women take pirate night as an opportunity to break out their inner skanky pirate. :)
