I'm considering making D.R. for the Garden Grill at Epcot. Would anyone please share their experience and opinion on this restaurant? What types of foods do they offer? Do you choose what you want your all you care to eat family dinner to consist of? I would appreciate it.:slurp:

We took our son there for dinner last year on his 5th birthday. He liked seeing the characters and the fact that the restaurant spins. Those were the best parts. The food was passable, but I think you'd get better food at the CS restaurant downstairs. There was turkey, some kind of flanksteak (I think) vegetables. Nothing memorable. Pretty bland and dry if I remember. We all agreed that we wouldn't go back, even though he had a nice experience. I think it's an ok place, but definitely not one of my favorites. Also, if I remember correctly, you don't choose what to eat, it's all family style and what the have is what you get.

Personally, I would never go there again. We had terrible slow service and most of the food was cold...and the stuff that wasn't cold was gross. I'd rather eat Mc Donalds than drop the cash for the GG. My advice, save the cash and eat downstairs at Sunshine Seasons...the food is much better.

Been there many times and have never had a bad meal. The flank steak is my favorite, so much so that I got the recipe and make it at home. The meal is served family style so if there are things you do not want just let them know and they will keep it off.

This is a character dinner,so if your traveling with children that may be a consideration. The menu is fixed and is served family style on a platter. The food was good, but not exceptional.

We had it a few years back. The characters are great and the rotating platform is cool. The food was just ok. We have not been back since because of the food. Not bad by any means just better options elsewhere. Similar to Liberty Tree food if you have had that. Although I though LT was a little better quality wise.

We've had good experiences there too.

You can order seconds of whatever you want.

We ate here a few years ago & really enjoyed it...the food was pretty good & the characters were great.
We liked the fact that the restaurant slowly revolved as we ate.

We ate there last trip and considered it a hidden gem. Neat environment. Best character interactions of any character meal. Food was good. Family style > buffet. I'd take Garden Grill over the over-rated Chef Mickey's any time.

I like it, and I think that as far as character meals go the food is pretty good. The atmosphere is fun since you do get to see Living with the Land from a unique perspective.

take a chance....

As I read the other posts I laughed a bit. One thing I've found about polls and reviews you are always going to get polar opposite reactions from people. Sometimes they are so contrasting you wonder if they could possibly be talking about the same place!

Anyway, we've eaten at the GG once. We are going back again this trip, too. We enjoyed it. The food was pretty good, not spectacular (except for the dessert, which was spectacular!) and the characters were great. You just have to take a chance anytime you eat somewhere, no matter what the reviews are. There could be a place that gets all raving reviews and then you go and it's "meh" for you and your party.

You just have to go and take a chance!!

I had reservations for my trip a few weeks ago, but I asked and they took the catfish off the menu, so I canceled my reservation on the spot.

We have eaten there about 5x. I think the food is actually pretty good. Turkey, flank steak and some sort of sustainable fish--Mahi Mahi or tilapia when we went in May. They also serve sald, mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables and cranberry sauce. The kids menu is baked chicken drumstick, sweet potato fries and mac n cheese (not my kids' favorite but I thought it was a step up from nasty chicken nuggets.) Dessert was some sort of berry crisp thing. As other posters said, you can eat as much as you want. The characters are nice as were our servers. It's a little pricey but we enjoy it much more than any buffet dinner on property.
Hope you enjoy it, too!

Ate there for the first time earlier this month. (I was with a friend who ate there many times when he was growing up, so we had to eat there)
Overall I thought it was pretty good.

The "sustainable fish of the day" was mahi-mahi, which was OK, but it was the least-favorite of the three meats. (The rice pilaf that came with the fish was good, though) The turkey was the best, flank steak a close second.
We ordered more turkey and steak.

I didn't feel like the berry cobbler, and they were more than willing to let me have the kid's dessert, the Mickey "Mousse" Cookies n Cream. (Though it was pretty small. I should've asked for two of them)

About the only minus on our experience was that the server disappeared after dessert was served, and it took forever to get our bill and then pay it when it did arrive. (According to my photo timestamps, dessert was served at 8:26pm, and we just *barely* got downstairs and into the queue for Soarin' before they closed the line at 9:00)

But apart from that one hiccup, our server had been excellent all through the meal.

Certainly not the worst meal I've had at Disney, but not the best, either.

The family style meal is ok, but not nearly as good at what you'd get at, say, 'Ohana.
