Opinions Needed on DDP Dining Choices & MK Dessert Party Packages

Like your dinner choices. The MK Fireworks parties are overpriced but worth it to avoid the crowds (the drinks and deserts are lacking for the price to us). For us though its a must do with a wife and daughter stuck at 5ft 1, so they can see the fireworks :D

I'm only 5 ft 7 so I can relate to that! ;)

Actually, we did it for our honeymoon. It was very special. We did a private fireworks cruise. I believe though that you can book something like that for 10 people. We ended up traveling to the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom and then the captain took us over to the waters of Epcot. I cannot remember what order they were. I believe that they now just do cruises to one or the other. I'm pretty sure we did see the castle. You may want to check with Disney about that. That was many a moon ago.
Eric I believe your memory is a bit cloudy.

You cannot travel from MK to Epcot via boat. The waterways do not connect. That is why there are two separate fireworks cruises - one for MK (on Seven Seas Lagoon) and one for Epcot (Crescent Lake to border of World Showcase Lagoon).

Here is where the pontoons park for Epcot fireworks.

I took this several years ago from a MK fireworks cruise. Sorry for the poor quality, yes @DiSnEyF@n you can see the castle but you won't see the projections on the castle (which you will if you do a dessert party.)

Maybe I'm mistaken. That was 10 years ago. But I thought I remembered seeing two sets of fireworks from the boat from different areas of the lagoon heading from Yacht Club. Oh well...

Thanks for clarifying. I thought your cruise was to watch MK fireworks, not Epcot. Depending on time of year, you can see the MK fireworks (from a distance) from Crescent Lake. So with MK fireworks at 8 pm and Epcot at 9 pm, you could have seen some MK fireworks as your captain drove you to Epcot.

MK fireworks over Beach Club.

I really don’t like the crowds at MK (I’m a bit claustrophobic), which is why we never stay late for the fireworks and plus I don’t like sitting around for 2 hours just to secure a good viewing spot, one which I might be smushed up against late comers…. I know this sounds whiny but the fireworks and light show on the castle isn’t worth all of that to me….. HOWEVER, with the (expensive) dessert party, we’d get to see it without waiting around and fighting people off And get a good spot.

Don't forget there's also "Celebration at the Top - Sip, Savor, Sparkle" on some Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Its over a the Contemporary Resort but is a bit more expensive than Treats and Seats with the mandatory gratuity. Its offerings are a bit more on the savory side, but it also has an open bar. No pre-poured warm beer/prosecco and you are inside a climate controlled venue (you can choose to go outside on the roof if you choose.

Good afternoon!
I hope you’re all well. Me and my family of 4 (dh, dd7 and dd10) are staying 7 nights at Yacht Club this summer. We got the free DDP and it’s a first for us. We usually stay at the Swan & Dolphin and then pick 2-3 sit downs per trip that are must do's.

Here are a few of our initial choices for our 7 sit downs. I’d love to hear your feedback and recommendation.

1. Cafe May Cafe - breakfast
2. Le Celier - dinner
3. Coral Reef - dinner
4. Crystal Palace - dinner
5. The Brown Derby - dinner
6. San Angel Inn inside Mexico
7. Open to suggestions

I’d also like to hear your opinions on the dessert party in MK. It would be about $350 for my family to do but I really want to do it. We haven’t really stayed and watched the fireworks in a long time. I feel like buying the dessert party package would be a nice way to end our MK day and we would have a really good view too. I’d definitely like your thoughts on it.

Thanks! ❤️
The dessert party is vastly over-priced, from my experience. You get all you can eat desserts, but how much can you actually eat? My family of 6 did this in 2019, right before the price was increased, and it still was impossible to eat enough to justify the price. And believe me, we tried.

Crystal Palace and Cape May Cafe should be good for character interactions, plus the CP buffet is usually pretty good. We aren't seafood eaters, so we haven't been to Cape May Cafe in 15 years. Coral Reef is a great experience, but the food used to be just average. Le Cellier is overrated, IMHO, for the price. Have not eaten that the other places on your list but I've heard good things.

If you can make it work, I would suggest Boma for dinner. Only 1 credit and a lot of great food.

Also Topolino's Character breakfast is only 1 credit and I've heard nothing but great things about it. Easy to get to from Yacht Club.

Thanks! Where is Topolinos? Boardwalk?

Boma is really good for breakfast, it is a buffet and they have lots of choices. I would recommend the seats and suites for the dessert party. You are guaranteed a seat and the fireworks view is good. It costs a small amount more than the pre and after party one but I feel worth the extra cost.

As others said, Le Cellier (like almost any 2-credit TS) is not a good choice on the DDP if your goal is to break even financially. (Basically, any time you go to a 2-credit place, order any but the most expensive entrees, or don't order alcohol, dessert, and whatever else the DDP includes, you're likely losing money, compared with what you'd have spent out of pocket.)

The MK Dessert Party is hugely overpriced -- that being said, for a special occasion (e.g., we did it as a one-and-done for my daughter's birthday one year), it's a lovely splurge, especially if you haven't had a chance to take in the projection/fireworks from a good vantage point in the past. We did the version with Plaza Garden viewing, and it was beautiful.
