I'm curious what others think about the potential for this supposed new attraction opening this fall.

Is Jack Sparrow still a popular character you want to see more of?

Or, have they exhausted him and the POTC story lines, like they did with Stitch?

Personally, I think there's still some potential, but it must be well done. Take me back to the original feeling I had with this character when we first met him, one who could escape death and the most precarious of situations with seemingly little or no forethought of how to do so. If they can re-create this feeling, then maybe it will work.

Personally, I could never get enough Johnny Depp!

Seriously - my kids were too young to see the movies in theaters and yet absolutely LOVE them. Stores still sell the Legos and action figures based on the movies. In our house, Captain Jack Sparrow is just as relevent as any other Disney character.

Not "supposed"...it's quite real.

Anyway...sure. The character still has legs. I see no reason this walk-through won't get more guests than the similar Narnia exhibit it will be replacing.

Jack Sparrow: The New Stitch

I'm tired of him, but then again I was tired of him after movie 2. I'm sure I'm in the minority though.

Love the character and I am looking forward to this. Of course I am not expecting anything more that a short A ticket show, which is fine by me. Not everything needs to be a blockbuster E ticket.

Much better option than Narnia, however, this building could hold something new and cutting edge, and its sad Disney Imagineering wont use the building in a better manner. Lets get back to the 90's when there was like 10 new rides every year!

I'm worried, that if this actually proves to be popular, it's going to be a mess, and the building will actually be too small. That's a big IF at this point though, with rumors being that it may just be a walk-through.

Yeah, it'll stay popular as long as Johnny Depp keeps it going and the writing and effects keep up. Depp has stated that he loves the character, and losing him would be the only thing that could really kill it. At some point most movie series become silly with stupid writing and predictable scripts, but Disney could keep this going with Depp on board, good writing, great effects, and (essentially) limitless budgets.

One key to the freshness, by the way, is how characters are in and out, but the movies stay good regardless. Barbossa appeared only in the last scene of the second movie, but has been a mainstay in the other 3. Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann are gone from the last movie. And Davy Jones, one of the creepiest villains in history, was only part of the 2nd and 3rd movies. Depp has been the key, and as long as he makes impeccable performance after impeccable performance (and tens of millions of dollars in the process), an additional Jack Sparrow attraction is perfectly sound. Yo ho.

If Universal can manage to make the wait for Ollivander's Wand Experience bearable, I think Disney can do the same for this attraction.

I'll never get tired of anything pirates! Although the latest movie didn't have Orlando or Keira, I still love them .... and the music :animwink:

I like Captain Jack Sparrow. But I'm more interested in what this is going to be like. My hope is that its decent and not dull and disappointing like Narnia was. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Normally at this point a pop culture phenomenon would hit the end of its tether and be met with annoyed backlash. However, as this is Disney I personally will let it pass. Jack Sparrow is a Disney character. One that is fabulously brought to life by a great actor. But it's like asking would you like to see more Donald Duck. I absolutely would.

I got tired of PotC movies after part two. :snore:

PotC in the Parks has always been :hurl:. Jack Sparrow walks and talks just like the drug addicts near my subway station. I've never liked the character.

As someone who has played Jack Sparrow for many years, I'm 100% over it.

Barbossa appeared only in the last scene of the second movie
Not true, He was in most of the movie. He was Commodore Barbossa. In the King's dining room, With the kings men after Black Beards ship at Mermaid Cove. He killed Black Beard! Next time you may try watching the movie ;)

Not true, He was in most of the movie but not dress as he was. He was Commodore Barbossa. In the King's dining room, With the kings men after Black Beards ship at Mermaid Cove. He killed Black Beard! Next time you may try watching the movie ;)

I sincerely hope you're trolling. Ralphlaw was talking about the second movie, Pirates of the Caribbean : Dead Man's Chest, in which Barbossa does only appear in the last scene. Not the most recent one involving Black Beard, Pirates of the Caribbean : On Stranger Tides. Next time, you may try reading the post ;)

I agree, :dazzle: give me a manly Pirate like Errol Flynn. I never got a connection with the Jack Sparrow character.

Agreed completely.

I also think we might feel the differently about Stitch if the attractions featuring him weren't so terrible.
