Opinion for Deluxe

Okay... I know that we aren't going until 2009 but as always, I am planning ahead b/c I need to start socking the $$$ away for it! It will be our 10th anniversary and I want to make it nice! DH finally agreed to a Deluxe. Any thoughts, opinions as to which you would choose? Here is what I am looking for - a nice, romantic place on property for an anniversary dinner; a decent sized room; something with a view (anything other than a pool or parking lot). We've only ever stayed at the values so anything you could suggest would be most welcome:kiss: Thanks in advance!
P.S. We are either going the 2nd week of May or the 2nd week of Dec. (due to DH's work)

Pick it based on your favorite park -- the one you spend the most time in.

If it's the Magic Kingdom (like us) then get one of the resorts on the monorail, or possibly the Wilderness Lodge.
If you are EPCOT people (don't understand them) then those resorts within walking distance to EPCOT would be great. Take a look at the Yacht Club.
If you especially like the theme of the animals then, of course, go with the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

My preference would be for the Grand Floridian, particularly for the occasion that you mentioned.

It will cost you but I'd go with a MK view room at the GF and dinner at Victoria and Alberts or the California Grill or both.

I agree. But yet you need to determine some sort of budget. Any of the monorail hotels are very expensive. If price is a deciding factor go with Wilderness Lodge, it is very romantic, has some nice views and you can have a great meal at Artist Point.

For that type of ocassion I think that the Grand Floridian is a good way to go, and it has rooms with incredible views overlooking the seven seas lagoon. Victoria and Alberts is certainly the highest quality meal you could get on Disney property but IS veryy pricey. After that I would certainly look into a nice room with a Bay Lake view at Wilerness Lodge. It is peaceful there, and very cozy/romantic. GF is very ritzy and high end, where as WL is more of a little secluded, tucked away, peaceful, romantic getaway. You can still get a great meal at WL at Artist Point, or you can book a nice dinner at any of the resorts, it doesnt necessarily have to be the one you are staying in although that is certainly the most convenient. My vote is for WL for the 10th anniversary. If it were for a proposal/wedding/birthday then I would have done GF. Save your money on rooms and food and go to WL, you will not be disappointed.

I agree with other posters here. You can't go wrong with the Wilderness Lodge, and Artist Point. The Lodge is even more beautiful in December.

1. Choose December, the park is stunning.
2. Choose lagoon view at the Grand Floridian with dinner at Victoria's and Albert's.
3. Choose the tower at the Contemporary with a lagoon (not a lake) view and dinner at the California Grill.
4. Choose the Wilderness Lodge with a lake (not a pool) view and dinner at the Artist Point.
5. Choose the Polynesian (lagoon view) and go to one of the above three restaurants for dinner.

These are in order. I recommend Grand Floridian or Contemporary simply because the rooms are bigger and the Seven Seas Lagoon view is without compare. But the Wilderness Lodge is a VERY good and less expensive alternative. View is not quite as good and the rooms are not as big. But the overall theme is better at WL than at Contemporary.

It will be expensive and you WILL love it.

Well... Needless to say, you wouldn't go wrong at any of the Deluxes, but the Poly has always been my personal favorite... And it is certainly romantic. Just strolling through the Great Ceremonial House (IMO the best smell on WDW property is there), around the grounds and along the beach, you will feel like you're in the south seas. The lush vegetation, Tiki torches, waterfalls and background music will take you away. Ahhhh.....

Dinner at V&A's at the GF would definitely top it off.

Have a happy anniversary, whatever you decide.

The only one we have staid at is the AKL, and we went in December of last year and with the decorations it was real nice, and if you get a Savanah view room you can sit on the balcony and check out the animals.

As to Restaurants, we only ate at Boma's which was great but not very romantic, but I have read great things about Jiko's and when we peeked in it looked like a nice romantic place.

Thank you all for your great replies! You have certainly given me plenty to think about. For when to go, DH's first choice is Dec. as it is closest to our anniversary (12/18) but I don't know if I can wait that long which is why I suggested to him May - if it were up to me, we'd go every year but that pesky work always gets in the way.

Looks like it is going to be between GF and WL....Thanks again!!!

Another vote for the Grand Floridian with a Magic Kingdom View! The resort is beautiful especially during December. I would also recommend dinner at Victoria & Alberts or Narcoosee's. Have fun planning :wave:

In my opinion, the more romantic deluxe resorts are:
The Grand Floridian
The Polynesian
The Boardwalk Villas

My first suggestion is the Wilderness Lodge, especially because it is just extra wonderful in the winter. It reminds me of winter back home in New York. The fireplace in the lobby is fantastic.

My second suggestion is the Grand Floridian because, well, if hubby is springing for a deluxe, may as well go all out!

We've stayed at WL and Polynesian, both were excellent. You can't go wrong no matter what you choose! Have a happy anniversary! :sohappy:

One of my favorite resorts is the Poly, for me, the atmosphere is one of the most romantic on property.
