ONE SENTENCE COMPETITION We Return... PRISMS OF LIGHT
All users are welcome to join in on the One Sentence Competition- it doesn't matter if you're not a regular on the forums, an observer, or an active participant. The low stakes yet high fun of the One Sentence Competition is fit for everyone. Don't worry about a time commitment given how the challenges max out at three sentences. This event is perfect for those on the go with plenty of things going on, or great for those who know how to perfectly get their elevator pitch across. If you miss a few challenges don't worry about it as throughout the Episode there will be plenty of ways to make up for the times you couldn't make it. There’s also no concrete sign-up system- just write out your first pitch and you’re in!
There will be 10 Rounds and each will last around 4 days. There will be a two-day break around the end of the fifth prompt and deadline extensions of special holidays. You'll be given a prompt and you have to pitch your idea with only 1-3 Sentences and up to 1 Picture.
THE TWIST IN THE GAME Just the name of the competition gives insight into what the twist to this competition is. As you might have learned in Science classes years ago, when a single beam of light hits a prism of a specific shape, the light from the beam can refract and transmit into streams of color, also known as a rainbow. This idea reflects Imagineering competitions. Usually, the judge or host of the game points a flashlight “prompt” into the prism of Imagineering, and it’s up to the users to create the rainbow that comes out of it. But this time- the host won’t be the one shining the flashlight- it’s going to be you!
So basically: The winner of each prompt will decide the prompt for the next (choosing from a list of five).
THE VALUE OF CREATIVITY AND GOOD IDEA A pitch is simply a short introduction of a concept that you're trying to convince someone to make happen (in the previous game, it was Joe Disney. This time it's ME.) It isn't about how good you are at writing or drawing. It doesn't matter if you have hours to spend working on your project or minutes (some 1SC projects have been done in seconds even). All that matters is having a good idea and being able to communicate it efficiently. This puts everyone on equal footing.
(As a side note, the host AGP is a stickler for good presentation. Even a quick adjustment of font and color can elevate your pitch)
Simple enough for newcomers, but rewarding enough for veterans.
A great way to start in the Imagineering forums, to relax a bit between bigger competitions, or just to have a good time and use your imagination a bit! Everyone who participates in a challenge will receive 1 point, as long as they follow the rules. Then, the top three will receive either the Redlight Award (1 point), the Greenlight Award (also 1 point), or the Violetlight Award (2 points and decides the next prompt) medals. Plus, each round will have an Honorable Mention for an idea that excels in one area that deserves a special shout-out but wasn't in the top 3 overall for whatever reason. Whoever has the most points at the end of the game wins bragging rights and first dibs on hosting the next Episode (last time’s winner was @AceAstro, but dropped out of the position due to outside work).
Every round will also feature a Bonus; complete the bonus and get an extra point! These will usually be a fun little addition and often focused on sharpening specific Armchair Imagineering skills such as including an original drawing, choosing some music to accompany your project, creatively using fonts/color choices, or adding a holiday overlay. Don't be surprised to see a more wacky bonus or two too!

View attachment 779684 Every round will also feature a Bonus; complete the bonus and get an extra point! These will usually be a fun little addition and often focused on sharpening specific Armchair Imagineering skills such as including an original drawing, choosing some music to accompany your project, creatively using fonts/color choices, or adding a holiday overlay. Don't be surprised to see a more wacky bonus or two too!
"To all who come to this happy forum, Welcome. The One Sentence Competition is your game. Here age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth savor the challenge and promise of the Imagineering forum."
