One Sentence Competition - The Disney Decade

The One Sentence Competition was a concept dating back to summer 2013 on the Imagineer forum. Originally designed by a member, Turtle, the game was a simple imagineering 'elevator pitch' based on a given prompt, where only 1-3 sentences were required per post. Eventually in 2016, and beyond into 2020, the game has become one of the longest running on the forum, going through several iterations and changes throughout the process.

After the success of the most recent season - the Platinum Edition - in celebration of the Imagineer forum's 20th anniversary, we gather here today to close out one year and ring in the new with the One Sentence Competition - The Disney Decade

The gameplay will be similar to seasons past. When the prompt is posted, you'll be able to respond with a 1-3 sentence 'pitch' describing your idea. At the end of each round, I'll write reviews and offer rankings!

Every submission receives one point, with bronze gaining an extra point, silver (+2), and gold (+3). Honorable mention does not gain any additional points, but is awarded to a project each round that might not have made the top 3, but deserved recognition in its own rank.

This game is open to everyone - and we welcome all who would like to give imagineering a try!

In this episode - there are two new features

One revolves around - the theme. In the Disney Decade, we will travel through the decade that saw one of if not the largest global expansions in Disney Parks. Some additions were great successes, others...not so much. In this Season we will delve not only into 90s Disney projects but also embrace the 90s in our imaginative journey.

Second new feature is a collaboration with @NateD1226 and
The Proposal: Dream Wedding - the ongoing free thinking daily imagineering thread. Rather than 'bonus' One Sentence prompts, in this episode, players will have the opportunity to earn from one bonus point per round by submitting a daily 'proposal' in the Dream Wedding thread during the given prompt!

Thank you - and we hope you enjoy!

For our first trip back to the 90s, we head out to Disneyland in California, where an announcement for a new park, WestCOT, is set to be announced. However, plans are still in flux, and that is where the imagineers need your help.

-Challenge-
Design an E-ticket attraction for WestCOT intended to be the 'wow' factor in the upcoming 1991 announcement.

Bonus
-Post a 'Proposal' in the
Dream Wedding thread on any daily topic!

-Rules-

You may use between 1 and 3 sentences and up to 1 image. The deadline is Sunday November 21st at 9:00 PM EST. Look for feedback and results no later than 10:00 PM EST that night, along with the next prompt.

-Tips-
K.I.S.S. – Keep it simple, silly. Try not to complicate or overthink things too much. It’s a simple, casual competition – there are no eliminations. Propose as you please!

-Judging Criteria-
Is it creative?
Is it (generally) realistic?
Does it fit thematically/visually?

Good luck everyone! If you have questions, please feel free to ask! Enjoy!

Serving as one of the highlight attractions of the Disneyland Resort’s new second gate, this new thrilling coaster serves as a way to attract more of the older crowd to the World Showcase part of the park. During the ride, you are launched out by one of those new electrical steampunk objects (kind of like Rockin Roller Coaster at DHS, but unique enough) and you blast through these new machines, this ride also features a few inversions. This ride’s factory-like show building will be located between the America and Europe areas as a transition of sorts.

Our Shared Story

Cro-Magnon-Scene-Spaceship-Earth.jpg

If Spaceship Earth runs the gamut of human communication, then Our Shared Story runs the gamut of human history as a whole. In this celebration of human spirit and innovation, we are taken on a trip through time to view great moments and people from throughout our history; from the earliest days of the caveman to our modern days.

Voyage to the Fairylands

Located in the European Corner of the Worlds, Voyage to the Fairylands centers around the mythology of faeries; a staple of the British Isles. Guests embark on old wooden boats down a canal into deep woodland and with granted passage from the Lady of the Lake, the boats fly off under the fading evening sky into the Fairy Realms, where fae both benevolent and malignant mainly reside. The ride also utilize advanced (for its time) illusions, effects, and AAs for certain show scenes; such as above, where the Queen of the Faeries bids us farewell and her swan maidens transform and guide guests out of the Fairylands.

Located in the African section of World Showcase, Zambia River Falls is a fast-paced water ride (you will get wet) that will be sure to thrill guests. In between whirlpools and other rapids, guests will learn about the positive conservation efforts taking place in southern Africa. The climax of the river raft ride is the 50-foot drop.
