@TwilightZone - Hakuna Matata Jungle Trek
Love this as a walkthrough idea! Nice and simple, but could be super fun and full of lovely sights. The bug shack is what really jumps out to me because it sounds exactly like the kind of weird thing DAK would do. I remember they were selling chocolates made to resemble scat before. Selling actual bugs both fits Timon and Pumba and serves as another "gross, but educational and eye catching" snack for the park. Even bigger bonus that according to Jeff Goldblum's Disney+ series bugs are a very environmentally friendly meal.

@DisneyManOne - The Legend of Tarzan
My first instinct was actually that this might be out of place. Most of DAK's Africa is the Serengeti. But Tarzan is the rain forest. Though I thought of it more and realized that with the location of where this coaster would go, this would be a PERFECT transition between Africa and Pandora! Plus, Tarzan is an incredible movie with a message that fits the park perfectly. And it lends itself so well to a rollercoaster!

@Brer Panther - The Lion King: Into the Pridelands
This is one of those ideas that is kinda of an obvious choice, but obvious because it is such a strong one. Like you said, the park could really use something like this. The only dark ride is the Na'vi River Journey which has mixed reviews (It think it's great! But also my first impressions came from a cast member preview with a 2 minute wait instead of waiting for an hour for it). And Animal Kingdom could be so much more than just a few stage shows in the parks. It might not be the most creative idea, but it would be a HUGE hit!

@spacemt354 -
Timon and Pumbaa's Wild about Safety Trail
When I was a kid, my favorite collectible from the parks wasn't pins or stuffed mickeys or anything like that. I collected guidemaps. In retrospect, that was probably encouraged by my parents because we were relatively broke and guidemaps were free. But still, I loved them. And they would have the little Wild about Safety cartoons on them and I'd love them. Point of this tangent is that this project speaks right to my nostalgic core.

I like how simple and realistic this is. My time as a cast member made me mostly give up hope for guests to ever behave like civilized humans (It only takes one cup full of poop left behind in a queue line to lose faith in humanity), but something like this might have a chance to help. Like you said, with the pandemic going on (and probably going for a while, especially in FL, based on what some experts are saying) this would be more important than ever. Easily the most realistic and grounded idea and something that could be set up almost overnight. But perhaps a bit too simple and small scale.

@tcool123 - South America
I love this and I love how much effort was put into making this fit in the small space. South America makes so much sense for DAK and the multi-level layout would be so unique and add a lot to make it stand out. This is all really amazing and the Canopy Crawl trail would surely become an instant stand out for the park! My only real complaint is that South America feels like it is too big of a theme for just this small mini-land in this tight space. But you do mention an expansion pad. While it would require some big backstage changes, I could see this being expanded to a full land in the future.

I love the custom maps btw! They are incredibly well done! Like I've said in past reviews, I try not to grade based on presentation too much. But it is a great map that clarifies things very well.

@Evilgidgit - The Chadwick Boseman Trail
This would be a very sweet tribute and more animal exhibits are always a great fit. One of the strengths of the Animal Kingdom animal habitats are how well themed they are. This is an example of not really needing more detail, but needing the right details. I assume this is a Wakanda inspired environment, but the Chadwick Boseman name and tribute makes it seem more meta rather than immersive. But still, more animals in Animal Kingdom is always nice and this is a fantastic and well thought out selection of animals. It is clear how much passion was put into this!

@DashHaber - Scrooge McDuck's Temple Trek
Huge fan of Ducktales and this would be a ton of fun! The adventure vibe and the ruined temple and the pro-nature message...this would fit really well in the park. I worry this would kind of be out of place in between Africa and Pandora. But DAK has done attractions in transitional spaces that don't necessarily fit into either land it borders before with the Nemo Musical. So, it isn't unprecedented. And Ducktales is a very strong IP that has stood the test of time yet is underutilized in the parks.

@InspectorSpacetime - Delta Dockyard
Oooooooohhhh a very nice mini-land. The aquatic theme is clear and simple. The picture you used add a lot to communicate the look of the land. The Discovery River Boats always seemed really fun to me, though I think if you turned it into just an attraction rather than transportation would improve it. The park is small and boats are slow. it's super cool as a ride, but really inefficient for transport. Seas of Wonder blending actually underwater exhibits with show scenes based on real animals would be a grand experience while still being small enough scale to fit in the land.

@NateD1226 - Natures of the River
A slow moving and relaxing boat ride with some simple showscenes would be great fit for this side of DAK. I'm a bit confused what you mean about this leading to Pandora? Is this a transport between the two lands? Or is that just you describing the location this goes? Overall, I don't have too much to say about this ride. It seems very pleasant and the only negatives are some minor semantics in the write up. It isn't the most ambitious, but keeping things low key is not a bad thing. Especially in this game.

@Disneylover152 - Australia
A bit of the same issue as Tcool's project of being a theme big enough that it deserves more than a mini-land. Though Australia (both as a continent and as a theme) is smaller than South America, so it isn't quite as big an issue.

I've wanted Australia for a long time and it would be a fantastic addition to DAK. The Wild Outback Skyfari is a cool attraction. Being so close to the safari ride while being almost the same ride is a bit of an issue. But the ride system and animal choice would help it stand out. Busch Gardens had their wildlife train and the Rhino Rally Safari next to each other and even share some of the same animal exhibits. And I love a good animal trail and this stands out nicely.

@Outbound - Up, Up, and Away!
Up has an interesting relationship with DAK. Disney is positive this IP fits amazingly well in this park, but can't seem to figure out how to use it. They tried forcing it into the Asia bird show for some reason and that didn't work. And they also just kinda dump random Up stuff around the Oasis. If Disney isn't going to build a South America land (which it doesn't seem like they are anytime soon), this space would be a great area to give UP a more permanent home! This seems like a great step up from Swiss Family Robinson/Tarzan Treehouse mode of storytelling as well as serving as a great place for meet-n-greets. My only complaint is that I wish you focused more on the animals and natural environments over telling the movie's plot. This is Animal Kingdom, yet you don't really focus too much on the parts of the movie that make it fit best in the park. But even if it is a bit too much of a book report, I still love it and Up is such a perfect choice for DAK and for a walkthrough.

@pix - Tamatoa's Walkthrough of Wonder
Visually, this would be a fantastic transition between the very grounded Africa and the very colorful and fantastical Pandora. I was skeptical at first about Moana since it is such a magical fantasy IP, but it has a strong adventure element and you do a good job using this as more of a jumping off point to discus some actual deep sea animals and plants. The deep sea stuff is a largely unexplored section of the natural world for the park. And a large Tamatoa figure would be really fun.

A fantastic Fifth Scene! An very interesting round to judge. A few less entries, but no less quality. This round with the very specific space in one of the most in depth themed parks was more limiting than usual. Probably the most limiting Scene of the game. But you all rose to the challenge!

Everyone who submitted something gets 1 point just for playing, but medal winners will get extra points on top of that!

And now for the awards!!!!

Ps5WGu1.png

Honorable Mention
@spacemt354 -
Timon and Pumbaa's Wild about Safety Trail
Honorable Mentions isn't necessarily "4th Place." This award goes to a project that excelled in one area, but had something else holding it back from the top 3. In this case, this project was slightly too small scale even for this small scale prompt. But it was one I personally connected with and I think it would be a fun spin on edutainment!

L30Y5yp.png

Bronze Medal (1 Point)
@pix - Tamatoa's Walkthrough of Wonder
This is a really out of the box idea, that I thought was a perfect transition and uses an IP in a creative way to talk about a section of nature/the real animal kingdom that isn't really discussed in the park right now.

zihTg3C.png

Silver Medal (1 Point)
@InspectorSpacetime -
Delta Dockyard
This is just a nice and simple land that would compliment what DAK already has really well! It might not be perfect (bringing Discovery river Boats back without fixing the issue that caused it to close), but this is such a unique and clever land that fits the small space at the edge of the river very well.

Gold Medal (2 Points)
@TwilightZone -
Hakuna Matata Jungle Trek
I almost feel bad giving you your first gold medal for your first project without a Steps in Time reference (unless I missed it lol). But this was a great blend of simple and fun. Low key and goofy. And as weird as it sounds, eating bugs really sold it for me!

You're an aspiring Imagineer in an elevator with Disney's CEO, Bob Chapek. You overhear him on the phone talking with Imagineers about a problem in the parks.

-The Problem-
Bob Chapek just finished reading the copy of "Business Buzz Words for Humanoid Potato Men" that Bob Iger gave him as a gift when he became CEO. He learned two things!
Money and Synergy!
One of Disney's biggest successes both in terms of "money" and in terms of "synergy" is the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchises. But after the disappointing 4th and 5th films, that synergistic cash cow has been about milked dry. And other attempts like Country Bears, Haunted Mansion, and Tomorrowland didn't really connect with people.

5e8c9131dcd88c4681156127

There isn't much time left in this elevator ride, but now is your chance to impress the Big Cheese and propose a solution that will earn you a place in the Imagineering Hall of Fame!

-The Prompt-
Propose a solution!
Propose a new Adaptation of a theme park ride!
This can be a Movie, a Disney+ Series, or a Video Game.

You can use any ride or attraction as inspiration, even ones that have been adapted before as long as you have a new take on it.
If you want to adapt to something other than those three mediums, you'll probably be fine to do it. Just ask!

-Rules-
You may use between 1 and 3 sentences and up to 1 picture.
The deadline will be at 11:59 PM EST on Tuesday, October 20th

-Tips-

K.I.S.S - Keep it simple, silly.
This is an elevator pitch, not a full project!
It isn't about more detail, it is about the right details!

-Judging Criteria-
Is it creative?
Is it realistic?
Does it fit thematically/visually?

Good Luck everyone! Have fun! Go create!

This game sure has found a nice rhythm in the first half.

Wouldn't it be interesting if someone big, angry, and
GREEN came in to add a twist to it?

Hakuna Matata is one of the songs in Steps in Time, first use of using one of the IPs in the show.

Honestly I am surprised that isn't a thing there yet.

Using a single sentence (and NO pictures), propose how your movie concept can be incorporated back into the original attraction.
(Like Captain Jack Sparrow appearing on the Pirates of the Caribbean rides.)

Whether you do the bonus or not will have absolutely NO effect on the main prompt's winners or the medals. BUT the best bonus will get 1 Bonus Point towards the overall rankings!

Phantom Manor is a spooky romantic-horror based on Disneyland Paris' take on the Haunted Mansion, similar in tone to Crimson Peak or Haunting of Hill House. Vincent Ravenswood, a troubled widow, inherits his family's ancestral manor in Thunder Mesa, discovering it is haunted by a terrible curse, a wandering bride in search for her lost groom, and a malevolent phantom whose dark influence spread beyond the house. Vincent and his family uncover the mysteries behind the haunting, and perhaps overcome their own grief too.

BONUS: Further streamline the story of Phantom Manor, reducing it back to one missing groom instead of four to tie it back into the movie, and further connect the attraction to Big Thunder Mountain in DLP.

The Country Bears
1603024364227.png
Disney has finally decided to give hand-drawn animation another chance - and what better way to kick off another age of it than through a new adaptation of another theme park attraction? Completely unrelated to the 2002 live action film starring Christopher Walken, The Country Bears focuses on Henry and his clan of goofy music-making bears leaving their home turf of Bear Country and taking their show on the road. With several toe-tapping songs (both from the attraction and original), a plethora of cuddly characters both old and new, and charming animation harking back to Disney's previous animal-focused films like Robin Hood and The Jungle Book, The Country Bears is sure to earn these underrated characters some new fans and reinvigorate interest in the attraction.

Bonus: If the film is successful, Disney has plans to bring the Country Bear Jamboree back to Disneyland - specifically, at Disney's California Adventure, as part of the Grizzly Peak area.

On Disney+, the last main tab is the National Geographic catalog that contains several series on animals, science, and global nuance such as The World According to Jeff Goldblum, and will now boast a docuseries based on the Epcot attraction, Living with the Land.

Narrated by Mike Brassell (the voice from the attraction), you'll journey all across the world from the jungles of the Amazon to the Sahara desert, to the Great Plains of the US, progressing through the attraction in a edutainment series consisting of 8 episodes of 40 minutes each.

The final few episodes will travel to research centers across the globe and even to the International Space Station and NASA to show how scientists are using renewable energy and crop development techniques to further improve our land, offering Disney+ subscribers a calm, relaxing, "put on after a long day", type show.

BONUS:
The finale scene is an outdated image collage of people around the world, and now it will show clips from the Disney+ show, inviting guests to watch it to learn more about the attraction they've just experienced, essentially making the attraction the 'sparknotes' version of the show.

Although this idea sounds absolutely impressive, for some reason, I cannot picture it without having the climax involve a dumb Empire Strikes Back reference -- y'know, with the Phantom saying "No...I am her father."

Oh, good grief! And Melanie's comeback is, "That's no true. That's impossible!"

Then, the Phantom says, "Search your feelings, sweetheart, you know it to be true."

Melanie then screams "NOOOO!" but like an soprano.
