Bad Love ~ A Teenage Romance

(Image Coming Soon)

Everyone always pictures love as one great cheesy ”happily ever after” fairy tale, so why not picture a younger ”teenage love” about not so happily ever after outcomes. Replacing the incredibly cheesy Earthquake Darkride at Gatlinburg, Tennessee, The new ride will still use the old ride system, but the whole ride will now get a new alleyway setting with new special effects (That means goodbye to the Earthquake gorilla). The new ride will tell the story of two teenagers in a secret romance talking about their bad, dark fantasies and their outcomes, which is achieved by the extra room depicting the fantasies by switching set piece and effects, all while smoke fills the room, to make the fantasies shift between the real world and the teenagers thoughts.

Bonus

The old, plain, boring ride train currently used for earthquake ride is now a chocolate box, with the seats being scented with dark chocolate, combined with scents similar to the dark fantasies in the ride.

(Image coming soon)
How dare you commit this affront to Earthquake: The Ride!?!

Replacing Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle in (Paramount’s) Kings Island as part of the transformation from Hanna-Barbera Land to Nickelodeon Universe in an alternate universe, this modern-day tunnel of love follows a certain Helga Pataki’s struggle to tell a certain football-headed kid how much she loves (hates?) him. What is it about Arnold that sends her heart aflutter - and what can she think of to keep her mind off of him?

Bonus
Similar to Phantom Theater (the ride that was in this building before Scooby), the ride vehicles are Omnimover cars made to resemble Helga’s famous heart locket.

MRS. BRISBY'S FLYING DREAMS

1729899325783.png

The Secret of NIMH is an all-time classic by Don Bluth, brought to life in a high flying family coaster located in an imaginary alt. KidsZone at Universal Studios Florida. Shrunk down to the size of a mouse, guests take off on the back of Jeremy the Crow to aid Mrs. Brisby on her journey to move her family, seeking out the elusive Rats of NIMH within their secretive rose bush. A majority of the story is set up in the immersive queue, whilst the coaster soars through scenes from the movie, including the Great Owl's dominion, the rose bush itself, and in a close encounter with the terrifying cat Dragon, all in the name of a mother's love for her children.

Note: No Bonus, but I think the image above gives a visual idea of what the ride would represent. I kinda picked the park at random, as NIMH is sadly not well know today and probably wouldn't be included in a major resort realistically.

Coming soon to Efteling Park (a fantastical theme park in the Netherlands!) is Avontuur Van de Tinnen Bodem, or
The Adventure of the Tin Soldier- a magical trackless dark ride located in the land's Fairytale Forest section, inspired by the well-known Danish fairytale by Hans Christen Andersen - The Steadfast Tin Soldier. Set in a universe where everything is made of romantic-era toys (not the modern Toy Story-esque children's playthings, but fancy toys of porcelain and tin and woodcarving) the ride tells the tale of a one-legged steadfast Tin Soldier who goes on an adventure to reclaim the love of the beautiful Porcelain ballerina in her castle, dancing around board games, crashing through a bookshelf of talking stuffed animals, and finally navigating the dangers of the Real World, from the dangerous waters with wicked mice to the mouth of a fish. Hershey's Great Big Kiss at Hersheypark

Hersheypark has constructed a gigantic Hershey Kiss the size of a building, containing within it the story of love, loss, and healing centered on Chip (a shy Hershey Kiss) and Miss Twizzle (a, um, Twizzler). The ride system is an innovative omnimover (in a Reese's Cup) which twists around the different levels of the giant Kiss structure before reaching the top, when each ride vehicle enters into a drop tower down the central portion of the structure (for the climax). This is an attraction for the entire family, so the wonderful plot (which I mercifully do not have to write here) will draw in the younger riders, while the thrilling-but-not-scary drop will bring joy to all ages!

Bonus: The Reese's Cup with two rows of seating (lap bars present but not visible):
View attachment 821571

Right off the bat, what I was looking forward to (or hoping) with this challenge was some an inventiveness with the ride and a unique park, and you did both. Even though it’s recently dropped plans for a hotel on site which leave something to be desired, Hershey Park has really worked in recent years to expand and improve their offerings. A dark ride leading to a modest drop tower would be inventive and a great addition to the lineup. A Hershey kiss and a Twizzler love story sounds silly when you say it, but in this park would surely work. Why is there not a giant Hershey kiss in this park?

Bonus (+1 ) – A Reese’s Cup vehicle is perfect

The Joker's Wings of Love
View attachment 821653
Coming to Six Flags Fiesta Texas (as a replacement for their rapids ride), this ride is a B&M Wing Coaster themed to the romantic moments between the Joker and Harley Quinn. The story goes that the Joker is trying to impress Harley, but he ends up trying and failing in Joker fashion (though he does end up getting at kiss out of her at the end of the ride). This ride has a similar layout to other wing coasters in the chain with 3 inversions, and the existing Joker frisbee ride is rethemed to the Riddler (with this ride taking the funhouse queue).

Bonus:

Green for the Joker, red for Harley Quinn.

A love coaster? Glad someone went for it and I know a certain forum member who this is right up their alley. I don’t know the popularity of the rapids ride, though I know they can be in Six Flags type parks, a Joker/Harley attraction would certainly slot right into the park with the dearth of DC attractions they have and the loss of a Joker coaster 20 years or so ago I think. With you taking the frisbee ride’s queue, that solves the theming that would be available to you from a Six Flags/coaster perspective. Definitely a fitting attraction to tell your love story.

Bonus (+1) – Quick, easy mockup. Well done

"Monsters and My One True Love"
Guests to Six Flags St. Louis will enter the Harmony Bed and Breakfast for “Monsters and My One True Love” (which is inspired by the book of the same name written by Dian Curtis Regan) indoor boat ride. Rilla is the teenage girl at the center of the story, who is trying to mitigate destruction from cute monster stuffed animals (with inspiration from Monster Mansion at Six Flags Over Georgia) that have come alive while also dealing with B&B guests, a family wedding, a visit from a dad she has never met, and a potential kiss from a boy with whom she has been friends since a young child. Guests will be able to bring the monsters to life with the laser guns in their boats–borrowing effects from Monsters Inc. Ride & Go Seek at Tokyo Disneyland and The Flooded Mine at Silver Dollar City.

Bonus: Boats are arranged in 3 rows of 2 with laser guns located near each seat.

Another Six Flags entry. Nice. Admittedly I know zilch little about the Six Flags parks, so nice to hop around to these locales. Learning a bit about a book I don’t know as well. Double Bonus. I like that you’ve tied this into another monster themed attraction in the park to perhaps build a smallish monster themed family area if space allows. It certainly sounds like Rilla has got a lot going on, but young love, monsters and probably a few wacky guests all make for a unique and enjoyable attraction. I believe the other monsters ride is a boat ride as well, but have no issues with that as I’d like to see amusement parks take more chances on non-coaster types. Popping in the laser gun style is definitely fitting for an addition the park would make.

Bonus (+1) – Perfect visualization!

Shrek's Swamp Splashdown
View attachment 821692
This brand new addition to Universal Studios Hollywood adapts what is perhaps the greatest love story ever told - the story of an ogre who won the heart of a princess. Guests jump aboard swampwater-stained logs and sail the turbulent waters of Shrek's swamp, face off against Lord Farquaad, encounter various Disney fairy tale characters, and brave the Dragon's Keep to rescue Princess Fiona before plunging out the highest room of the tallest tower (you may get wet!) and discover the secret that Fiona is hiding. The attraction ends with a dance party/wedding reception in Shrek's swamp, with Donkey singing "I'm a Believer", before guests exit out into a gift shop, Ogre Outfitters.

Bonus:

Admittedly, I am not a huge Shrek fan. I know I haven’t seen all of the movies and maybe have only seen the first twice. Weird because I seem to recall enjoying it for the most part. That said, why Universal and Dreamworks haven’t worked to create a Shrek land (and UO doesn’t count) is mindboggling to me. Unless there’s potential issues with stories, it just seems ripe for their “Fantasyland”. Maybe an EU expansion. Rambling aside, the attraction itself is perfectly fitting to explore the world and adventure of Shrek and tell a great love story. You’ve hit plenty of high notes for the attraction and given a perfect elevator pitch tease of what this could be. Why isn’t this already a thing?

Bonus(+1) – Kudos on the “quick” sketch. Perfect!

A Tale of Two Lovers
View attachment 822071
Opening up at Universal Studios Florida is a film based on the iconic 1997 film Titanic, this ride will focus less on the actual disaster to avoid any problems but more on the love between Jack and Rose (even tho I don't like the 2 together). Guests will first enter into a Titanic museum that showcases many artifacts from both the movie and the actual sunken ship, a small play area is also in the queue as it showcases how much the deck tilted at different parts of the sinking before they enter into their boats. Guests first go through the waterways of London as the 2 lovebirds enter the ship, how Rose and Jack met, the dinner between the 2, the many events during the sinking where guests will go through the flooded hallways, Jack dying, and Rose reuniting with Jack.

Bonus:
View attachment 822069
Speaking of love stories….Love or hate Titanic (does anyone hate it?), no one can argue the film is a love story obviously set against a tragic event. I don’t know if they still do it, but there was a touring Titanic museum show that had plenty of great sets, props, and items from the ship so its easy for me to picture the queue you’ve described, although the play area had me scratching my head a bit. Plenty of storytelling in this attraction and I’m sure at times sobering for guests. If Titanic was released pre-1990, wouldn’t be surprised to have seen a blockbuster like Titanic included in the original UO. Great love story pull, though curious how Rose and Jack reunite?

Bonus (+1) – technically not a sketch, but being generous with the bonus this round

(Sorry that it’s so small & it doesn’t really look like a chocolate box btw)

Right away you get the award for most unique pull of where this attraction is going. Totally did not expect someone to redo Earthquake in Gatlinburg, but love the originality. Sad to see “Earthquake Gorilla” go though. I assume this is an original story since I couldn’t find a movie tie-in, and awesome to see that kind of chance taken. Teenage romance is a story that transcends many genres, and looks like you were going that route as they shift from real world to their thoughts in some dreamlike sequences I presume. I’d be curious the draw for this attraction replacing Earthquake which has a unique status and draw of its own (for many reasons), but the originality here is off the charts and I love that.

Bonus (+1) – Great little artwork!

More dark and boat rides at Dollywood. Yes. Please. Thank you. There was a comp, several comps back, where we were doing an addition to Wildwood Grove and yours is wholly fitting in that lane which is great to see but different than those from what I recall. Short, simple pitch, but the family and animal nature of this is spot on. A little skunk love story could be super cute in this park.

Bonus (+1) – I’ve opted for the bonus here since I think your reference photo probably doubles a bit for what the exterior of your ride vehicles could look like.

It was a bit of a struggle thinking of what to pitch for this prompt, but hopefully this'll do...

Oh, Arnold, How I...

Bonus
Similar to Phantom Theater (the ride that was in this building before Scooby), the ride vehicles are Omnimover cars made to resemble Helga’s famous heart locket.

Another unique park. Perfect. I lament the loss of anything Scooby Doo so automatic negative points (just kidding). Super quick, easy world building from you with the new land, and love that you’ve gone back to the tunnel of love for a modern day version, of a toon no less. Love and hate often go hand in hand, so this certainly fits the bill for our love story idea and could see this being a true romantic comedy ride. What is it about Arnold anyway?

Bonus (+1) – no photo, but solid description of the ride vehicle added on

The Secret of NIMH IS an all-time classic. While you are right, it probably wouldn’t be included realistically, it’s a shame because there is so much visually that could be done with this property from a storytelling perspective. Love the idea of going for the family coaster instead of an expected dark ride. Here we get yet another type of love story with a mother and her children. Solid narrative and build up of the story with your description and a nice pitch for what to expect. Like how you confirm the immersive queue that helps build up the story of the attraction.

Bonus (+1) – no artwork, but like Solaris with your note and reference photo, easy enough to convey the attraction vehicle

Another unique park with Efteling. Nice! What a classic attraction choice for this park and seemingly a snug fit. A great love story, a toy story, between a tin solider and ballerina. Again, we get a nice job done by an entrant hitting all the high notes of the attraction, and able to convey plenty of charm and whimsy that we can expect beginning to end. If I ever get to the European parks that I’ve come to love, this is wholly something I would expect. Not a ton to say on this as it really is just a classic European dark ride come to life.

Track 3
8 Days a Week

Back to The Beatles 1 Album and 8 Days a Week, released in December 1964, is a fitting title for any of us that have the daily grind at work. Though I'm sure many of you in school feel that way as well. For the song though, the lyrics were more about having more time with their love, something we've already tackled, rather than working your x@# off that was actually more of the inspiration of the title.
1730071198011.png

If you had 8 days in a week, what would you do? Anything different? How would you use that extra day if you didn't have to work. A curious question for our favorite theme parks around the world as well. What would they do with an 8th day?

While I am not a huge fan of the party offerings at many of the major theme parks that shut down the parks early for guests to pay extra, I do see the merit in their own way. What if the parks had an 8th day they could do anything with when there was no normal park operations to interfere with daily guests?

- Challenge -
Your challenge this track is to create an all-day event at any theme park of your choice on a presumably 8th day of the week. Be it holiday offering, themed IP event, or something completely random, what kind of all-day fun can you create for "party" guests at your park when you don't have normal operations to worry about? This is your chance for an open to close party or celebration that is as laid back or jam packed as your heart's desire giving guests plenty of time to experience everything you have to offer.

- Rules -

  • Your 8th day party can be placed at any theme park around the world
  • You may use between 1 to 3 sentences and up to 1 image.
  • No AI generated artwork, writing, or assistance in the brainstorming process is allowed

- Deadline -
This project is due on Friday, November 1st at 11:59 PM Disneyland Time
(Saturday the 2nd 2:59 AM WDW Time)

- Tips -
K.I.S.S. – Keep it simple, silly. Try not to complicate or overthink things too much. It’s a simple, casual competition – there are no eliminations. Propose as you please, let your imagination soar!

-Judging Criteria-
Is it creative?
Is it (generally) realistic?
Does it fit thematically/visually?

The MrBeast Extravaganza @ Carowinds
New Note.png

(pretend that’s the MrBeast logo or something)

Coming never to North Carolina's Carowinds is a 1 day festival centered around the state's most popular (and controversial) YouTuber, MrBeast. MrBeast themed decorations (including a 3d mascot and pictures of the greedy man himself, as well as replicas of his play buttons) and memorabilia will appear throughout the park, and the park's most popular coasters will get rethemed for this not-so special occasion (with Fury 325 becoming the Fury Jimmy and Thunder Striker becoming the Lunchly Striker, for instance). Guests will also be able to get MrBeast themed foods, including cookies, Squid Game foods, MrBeast Burger, and even Lunchly (no mold), so you too (yes, you) can get your “electrolytes” and your cheese drippy bruh.

(and yes if anyone asks this is a joke pitch, I know what he (and some of his employees) did is absolutely unacceptable (there are no ties to said employees) and I didn't have many ideas)
