You’re joking right?

Bob killed restaurant quality concerns 15 years ago
They got the star so this means something was going right for them at this time. Bobs influence didnt hinder the award being bestowed on this spot. As I said stars come and go. The Chef has a lot to say about the standards, if Bob will let him. If not the Chef can retain his personal integrity and leave as others hav e done in the past.

What are you talking about??? Disney has nothing to do with Capa.... Nothing.

The restaurants at Disney couldn't find a star with a telescope(Pun intened)

Playing devil's advocate -what point would there be in purposing to obtain a star when WDW's target market has shifted markedly, such that they aren't able to distinguish star quality from Taco Bell? It's for the same reason that the term "foodie" refers far more to instagram engagement than it does actually having a clue about food. I don't like what he's done to WDW food and beverage or the property in general, but Bob has been able to drive demand while offering an inferior product, at a higher price.

I don’t think you are wrong at all and pretty much nailed it. It’s just sad because it could be so more. There is no reason they are not high end for a few sig places.

Not that I don’t agree with your point…I do.

But why it matters is their pricing isn’t reflective of outback or OG quality/prep/management…that’s the “divergence”

But the cupcakes look so pretty? Isnt that whats it about? You just know there are meetings where it goes like this
Food Services "The kitchen came up with this really refreshing smoothie, we think folks would love the taste."
Marketing "Nah, not very colorful, will make for dull photos"
FS "Oh well in that case let us show you this"

FS "IT's really sweet and in the hot sun doesnt hold up so great."
Marketing "Send out the call to all the influencers and get that abomination in the parks immediately!
Half the food on this just makes me shake my head...

The point was that the Michelin award was given to a restaurant on Disney property and maybe there might be some jealousy felt to make other restaurants reach for a similar honor. Some Disney chefs who were notable left in the past because their creativity and style wasnt accepted by those calling the shots. Disney continually boasts about their signature restaurants as being a step above others... well why not show us?

It’s an interesting list but agree Capa is another level. Ravello also at 4 Seasons was recommended too. I’d love to know the criteria and did the inspectors dine everywhere (that was open) or how did they select restaurants.
It's usually a panel that selects the group of restaurants to be reviewed.

I didn't even know Orlando was selected as a city for review. It's usually reserved for bigger cities. Very interesting. And pretty cool that they got one (or 4 based on my googling :) and 7 Bibs!)

ETA - it might be good to note California Grill, Citricos and Polite Pig were all Michelin recommended (3 of 23 Michelin recommended in the area.) I wonder if California Grill was reviewed before or after the prix fixe?

Capa is outstanding especially if you’re comparing it to chain steakhouses or a steakhouse in the Disney World bubble.

But let’s be frank here.

One Michelin star is just for the food. Comparing it to a three star experience like Alinea in Chicago and Capa looks bad.

Food for thought.
