One night at the World sans children, what should we do?

So I've been really bummed that my in-laws are joining us for most of our trip, but this morning my mil called to say that we can have one night "off" in the world while they take the kids. We've never been to the world without the kids, except for dinner, so we are at a loss on what to do. We'll be in MK during the day with the kids so that is the only park we can hit up at night as we don't have hoppers. MK is open till midnight that night so we'll have about 8 hours of kid-free time. Suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Might I suggest a leisurely TS dinner at one of the monorail resorts (Polynesian, Contemporary or Grand Floridian), a stroll along the beach, monorailing back to MK to walk around hand-in-hand, a spin through each of your favorite attractions (save the most popular for last, when the lines wane), late night Dole Whips and stealing a kiss during the fireworks...

i love @Weather_Lady 's suggestion. it sounds like a perfect romantic night.

however, when my kids - meaning my daughter and son-in-law- go alone for their 10th anniversary next month- totally different plan.
i keep trying to get them to do what she suggests, their answer was- heck no- we are doing every ride that we can't do with the kids! woo hoo- space mountain here we come! WE are the kids this trip.

California Grill during the fireworks is also very romantic.
whatever you chose- romantic or childlike - enjoy your alone time.

As a parent of 2 that has been at least 10 times now without the children, I would say save the things that you really want to do for the evening. Either be a kid and fill yourself with candy and Casey's, or have a nice dinner at a MK resort, spend a little time in the park, and then head over to Jellyrolls for the rest of the late evening.

These are all great ideas! Does anyone know if the Cali Grill Lounge is open to anyone or only if you have a reservation for Cali Grill? We have a reservation for BOG dinner with the boys before we send them packing for the night, so a big dinner isn't on our to do list, but light fare and drinks are definitely in the plans. I'd love to check out the views at Cali Grill, but don't want to take up and ADR just for appetizers and drinks. If we can't go there then we'll probably hit up Tambu at the Polynesian and gets some Lapu Lapus, watch the boat light parade, and then hit up MK for some late night mountain rides.

Jellyrolls is a piano bar on the Boardwalk. You can go to the Boardwalk and watch the evening entertainers and if you want a drink there are many lounges/bars to choose from - Boardwalk, Boardwalk resort, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Swan and Dolphin.

We are doing a new free of our son and going to Victoria and Alberts!! My son is going to the kids club in our hotel while we go. We are going during our 10 year wedding anniversary so we figured we go to the restaurant we went to on our honeymoon. Go out and enjoy a nice fancy dinner and maybe a firework show alone!

You should be able to go up to the lounge at Cali Grill. We were planning on popping up like this last trip if there was time...i.e. cocktails and maybe a little snack. I know we've seen people just using the bar and lounge when we've been up there waiting to be seated for our ADR.

I was thisclose to booking V&A, but decided for the money we could book a signature and a tour instead. I am 90% sure we are going to book Cali Grill, but Le Cellier is also calling my name. For the tour we are planning on doing either Keys to the Kingdom or Walt Disney: Marceline to Magic Kingdom Tour by ourselves one morning :)

Side note: In laws are not yet aware that we are doing a tour, but I figure if they are going to interrupt our family vacation then free babysitting is fair game :D
