One More Time Concerning Mugs

The thing we miss the most about the resort specific mugs is the uniqueness of them. Each resort having their own design made for a big souvenir with a "perk" option (being free refills)...once you buy these newer ones, whats to keep you coming back to purchase them if they stay the same? I definitely think the decision to stop the resort specific mugs was a huge mess up on the decision makers!

I haven't purchased the refillable mugs in our last 4 trips because I realized that I did not spend enough time at the resort to justify buying three mugs, for myself, wife, and son. We usually spend the entire day at the parks. We used them in the morning, but then ate in the parks for lunch and dinner, plus snacks. And, when we did get back to the resort, the area was usually closed and the fountains saran wrapped already.

So, I find I save money by just buying individual drinks each day. In the end, I spend 20 bucks on beverages for the week, as opposed to 45 on the mugs. Plus, they are not great souvenirs as they are awkwardly shaped and take up too much cabinet space.

No loss for me on the new mug situation.

The RFID chips will keep you buying new mugs if you want to continue to get the length of stay refills.

Or else go to Walmart up the road and buy some Two Liter Sodas and keep them in your room..... of course as DVC we have fridges....but still anyone can get a bucket of ice....which is usually a heck of a lot closer than the drink kiosks (when they are even open lol)...

I like the mug concept...but I do not like the small size........

Make them bigger...and make a mug thats fillable even at the parks for a year (would they limit this as a purchasable perk for passholders or DVC I wonder??)....with RFID they now have the ability to do this.....and I know a lot of us would pay the $50 or so they would likely charge to have the convenience....

I NEVER knew they CLOSED the drink stations????

How/why can they do that????

They don't usually do it until midnight. They will usually close all of them down except for one. Then, at midnight, they plastic wrap the last machine and shut them all down.

This is done, I think, due to the number of kids roaming the resorts at night. Can you imagine the mess with hundreds of kids and teens getting drinks all night and no one staffed to maintain it? It would be a disaster.
