Wave goodbye to the bacon-esque "To Honor America" float, it seems:

Also, I'm predicting that some people will be having a Main Street Meltdown™️ on April 22 once the new Atwell announcement from Tokyo's Dreamlights is introduced moving forward. Standby...
So it seems we're going from one country to all the countries. Neat.

This is all the information about YOUR Imagination's Imageworks I could gather, there's some stuff that are new discoveries in here (to me anyways). I have always been fascinated with YOUR Imagination and its Imageworks cause there is so little out there of it, both behind the scenes and footage-wise. I have done something like this in the past, but the original post is missing!

I decided to redo an old project of mine, placing together what the experience of this variation of the Imageworks was like using old footage and press materials. This may not be 100% accurate, but I hope it can bring some knowledge of this now lost and forgotten experience that was part of the horrible 1999 makeover.

The most notable thing about 99’s Imageworks is that it was primarily advertised for the Imagination pavillion for a brief time instead of YOUR Imagination. I found two promotional videos that actually feature the pavilion’s makeover: one focuses mostly on the Imageworks with a brief bit on the ride, while the other skips over the ride entirely, focusing mainly on the Imageworks, with a brief clip to showcase Honey I Shrunk the Audience. Disney knew the Imageworks was the better experience of the two, and yet the experience is mostly lost.

The strange thing is, this Imageworks actually seemed enjoyable and well-liked, or at least liked enough to be lively in the guest footage of the Imageworks I got for this. I honestly believe that this variation could have easily been mostly left alone for the big Figment makeover, with maybe some cosmetic changes, and it would have been fine. With what little knowledge I have, I do believe the Figment variation is actually a downgrade rather than an upgrade but I will get into the reasons why at the end.

I am doing an archive of an old promotional video from the Millenium Celebration rn and all the attractions they showed at the beginning are gone now except for Rock n' Rollercoaster, the Disney Wonder, and Winnie the Pooh.

The attractions that are gone: Innoventions, the Mickey wand on SSE, Journey into YOUR Imagination, Tarzan Rocks, Tapestry of Nations, and Millennium Village.

Kinda interesting.

Just saw this on Twitter. Hoping @Tegan pilots a chicken can provide context behind this Sasha Banks video because I am shocked (in the best way possible) lol.

Hahaha!! So Sasha’s purple hair was like her thing for years. When this happened, she’d been out for some time, I believe rehabbing an injury. When Sasha took off the wig to reveal her new dye job, it was symbolic of her leaving the original version of her “The Boss” persona behind and becoming “The Blueprint.”

Wrestling is the greatest.

Archived video I mentioned yesterday!
Some highlights:

  • Lots and lots of copyright music, yes mambo no. 5 (Disney version) is in there
  • Behind the scenes of several attractions
  • A brief tour of YOUR Imagination's Imageworks
  • A not so brief tour of Innoventions
  • Lots of tours actually, it goes surprisingly in depth
  • A rick roll sound-alike (not joking)
If you have about an hour to spare, I recommend watching!

For @TheOriginalTiki and anyone who likes Mandela effects or weird stuff like that - I came across a new one.

The Bucket List - you know like a list of things you want to do, was never used before the film 'The Bucket List' in 2007?
A film I have never heard of but apparently we all collectively popularized and started using their phrase.

I feel like this can't be true but I thought it was funny nonetheless

In another trippy experience, I had a serious uncanny valley moment with this POV on the lift hill - I thought it was Planet Coaster and then people say it's real and parts of me aren't sure

No, I can definitely verify that the movie popularized the phrase. I'm sure the movie wasn't the origin point for where the phrase actually came from, but for sure I remember it catapulting the concept into the pop culture lexicon.

I'm really mixed on what I want to do for a trip this year. Florida is at the top of the list for the one two punch that is Iron Gwazi/Velocicoater, plus HHN if I time it out and budget it right. The only problem with that is the $$ which might be out of reach for me. I'm wanting to do two days at Uni, one day at Busch, and POSSIBLY an Epcot day depending on how worthy of a park visit Cosmic Rewind ends up being.

A couple other options I'm exploring are a Kentucky Kingdom/Holiday World trip but that would entail a pain in the butt long Uber ride between the two parks and most likely flying into one airport and out from another which would be tricky, plus two different hotels.

Then there's the evergreen potential of a Cedar Point trip, and the more time that goes by the more I feel like I'm really missing out by not going there. King's Island is also creeping up on my must do list. Also San Antonio for SeaWorld and Fiesta Texas. San Diego is another option, as I'm getting more and more enticed by the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park plus the opening of Emperor finally gives that SeaWorld enough of a lineup to consider it worthy of a visit.

And Lagoon is always the most enticing option from a budget point of view.

@D Hulk any words of wisdom for my conundrum?

I will say that Lagoon is a really charming park just because of its history and size. It’s also a coaster lover’s dream for quantity alone. Definitely worth a visit, even if not for this year.

It's easily the cheapest option for me, being by far the closest major park to California that I haven't yet gotten to and Cannibal alone has had it on my bucket list for a while. I guess my one hang-up is that all things considered it'd be a pretty small scale trip and if I do it would definitely cut into the budget of a potentially larger scale trip. @D Hulk any suggestions for a second smaller scale trip that would perhaps compliment it? Has anyone been to Kentucky Kingdom? I only ask because the park is literally right next to the airport so it's definitely enticing from the ease of transportation perspective. Holiday World is like a 90 minute drive away but since I don't drive it might be too far out of the way to really be worth it as those longer Uber rides definitely break the wallet.

All of the trips you've outlined are totally worthwhile from a coaster enthusiast perspective. I've now been to all of these spots. It sounds like you're more interested in coasters than theming presently, so the major deciding factor will be budget and ease.

Kentucky Kingdom is a fun half day park (marathoning Storm Chaser and Lightning Run is the main draw), but not at all worth the effort of flying out there for it alone. Only go there if you can swing Holiday World. That would be a multi-hour Uber ride, which could be severely, prohibitively expensive. Sadly, HW is among the world's most remote theme parks, and not really doable without a personal vehicle, and I gather renting a car isn't an option for you. If you can visit, however, then The Voyage is my #2 coaster worldwide (behind Steel Vengeance and ahead of Velocicoaster), and Splashin' Safari (included with park entrance) is the best water park that I've seen. Holiday World is a fantastic park.

If coasters are the main thing, I would still push a combo Kings Island / Cedar Point trip. Fly into Cincinnati, see KI for 1.5 days or so, then fly up to...whichever airport is most convenient for CP. (Since KI is a former Paramount Park, it has some "wannabe Disney DNA" which makes it a good starting point.) The sheer quantity and quality of coasters you'd get in Ohio is unbeatable. Florida doesn't come close. CP alone answers the Iron Gwazi / Velocicoaster combo with Steel Vengeance and Maverick, plus it has other masterpieces like Millennium Force and Magnum XL 200. (Sadly, it looks like Top Thrill Dragster's days might be over.) KI has the best collection of wooden coasters outside of Holiday World, plus some exceptional steel coasters like Diamondback and Banshee and Orion. (Haven't done the latter, and apparently Banshee has gotten rough since my last visit.)

Lagoon has a charming trolley park vibe which I believe you'd dig. It's like a mountainous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Good collection of strong vintage coasters (Colossus is the best Schwarzkopf I've done) plus the wholly one-of-a-kind Cannibal. I'd recommend Lagoon over Kentucky Kingdom, no question. Not to mention, if you were so inclined, Salt Lake offers other good sightseeing options.

If you wanted a 2nd budget trip to complement Lagoon, I recommend San Antonio. Park-wise, Fiesta Texas is a contender for the best Six Flags. It's certainly the most aesthetically pleasing by a wide margin, plus Iron Rattler caught me off guard. It's a Top Ten coaster for sure! SeaWorld San Antonio isn't worth the one day ticket cost; best visited with a Platinum Pass. (So maybe postpone Lagoon and do a second trip to SeaWorld San Diego to maximize Platinum Pass value.) Beyond the parks, San Antonio has a walkable riverfront area near the Alamo which is worth a visit. Plus, as a movie guy, you owe yourself a visit to the Alamo Drafthouse.

Hope this was helpful.
