You know those great plush toys your kids bring back form WDW - especially the nice white ones, say dalmations. And you know about a year later when they have been taken everywhere and got so grimey its hard to tell where the spots once were?
Well. Can they be cleaned? Safely, without turning the whole thing to mulch? Answers on a postcard please...

ps Actually, answers here please - postcards take to long in the post

Even simpler don't buy them:)

I mean how many cuddle toys does a kid need?

Saying that we have literally hundreds in this house, but I do just throw them in the washing machine inside a pillow case.

Its a little late for that! They are bought, dirty and need a clean!
Pillow case? How does that help?
(bloke speaking - please use small, basic words when discussing washing ;) )

The pillowcase "protects" them...they don't get as twisted and pummelled by the agitator.(that thingy that goes up & down or spins in the middle on a top loader) If you have a front loader, it keeps them from getting "squished" along the sides during the spin cycle.

Make a warm solution with some dish or glycerin soap--something mild. Test apply it on an inconspicuous area first to make sure the pet  is colorfast. Using a small brush, apply the soap in a circular motion, wettingthe covering but not so much you soak the stuffing. Go over it again with clear warm water, pat excess water from the pet with a clean towel and let dry overnight or so. Don't plunk him in the sun or his spots will bleach out. :)

Great - thanks for the tips!

No problem. The pillow case suggested I think was for machine washing--but that can be risky if the toy wasn't meant to be machine washed. Surface washing is the safest way. :) If you get frustrated, put it in a pillow case and machine wash on gentle... :)

Anytime marcia. Think of it as a thank you for keeping me in line all these months. ;)

Hope your parents end up okay. :)
