Dr Phillips :p

Then there's also Paloma in Windermere proper, which is above average, but still has room for improvement.

Are we calling that Dr. Phillips :p

I don't think the people who live in Dr. Phillips would agree with you. Is Universal in Dr. Phillips?

I think it's more accurate to call it Metrowest, but not really even. I think that's just in no man's land.

Paloma is definitely Windermere, though I've never been there though have passed by it a few thousand times.

Sad, but not surprising. I wonder if any leaders are regretting their decision to not furlough back in March and keeping everyone on. It was admirable, but those employees could've received unemployment+ at the time (state unemployment + $600/week) and now would've had some job security as opposed to being laid off after the extra benefits have vanished. Seems like a lose/lose for those employees.

Indifferent.

The problem is they are facing a market of a NEW size for the forseeable future. The old company size doesn't make sense. Layoffs are unavoidable - You don't need pre-Covid sized operation for the market they are in now.

True. I imagine the employees are the ones regretting the decision made by leadership actually.

Did you mean layoffs are unavoidable? I agree. We're talking staffing levels that haven't been seen since pre-Harry Potter when IOA was lucky to get a few thousand through the gates on some days.

For the record, if IOA and USF is getting sub-10K, I wonder how many hundreds LEGOLAND Florida is getting. I've been there on days when they only had a few hundred people. Absolute ghost town, but easy to get on everything.

I'd put money down on Nintendo coming to USF by 2023.
I'm surprised they're still considering bringing it (or anything else) to the parks, I would have assumed there's too much panic and cost cutting for them to even still be considering any expansion plans outside of the very long term future. Presumably they'll fall back to its originally intended Kidzone location. I hope the Donkey Kong area is still included (which i'm not holding my breath for). And also that ET isn't sacrificed...

I'm most disappointed about the classic monsters land, which sounded awesome. The How to Train Your Dragon area had potential as well. While i'm sure Fantastic Beasts would have been amazing, i'm sure Potter-verse is one IP that will definitely continue to be expanded within the current two parks.

In the years prior to Epic's announcement, there had been persistent rumors that Fear Factor was being considered for a Ministry of Magic ride. There's enough space (including the building and land surrounding it) to accommodate a nearly Gringotts-sized ride and they can easily connect it to the existing London/Diagon Alley area. And while I don't know if it's ever been considered, prior to Epic's announcement I had wondered if they were considering building a Fantastic Beasts MACUSA attraction in the New York area.

I grew up there and consider it to be the outer part of Dr Phillips, next to Metrowest. Metrowest ends right at Conroy Rd, and Conroy is Dr Phillips. To me, no man's land starts right at the bridge over the Turnpike.

They could:

Replace Toon Lagoon with HTTYD (keeping the bones of the water rides)
Replace what's left of Lost Continent with Universal Monsters
Replace KidZone with Nintendo (as originally planned)
Replace Fear Factor with more Potter (as you said)

That's all the good stuff from Epic Universe, but in a way that would make the existing parks better. I'd be fine with that.

I live about 4 minutes from Legoland. You don’t see more than 30-40 cars in their parking lot at a time anymore.

Grew up in that area as well (went to DPHS). I can agree with this!

Strange that the high school next to Universal is called Dr Phillips and it's famous alumni Joey Fatone from N'Sync and Johnny Damon who used to play for the Red Sox.

True, though sadly i'm inclined to think Monsters and HTTYD would probably just be scrapped outright for now. Not an insider (and i'll defer to pheneix if he knows otherwise), but just a feeling. Nintendo at least I can see eventually coming (at least Mario Kart and Yoshi attractions) given that it appears that the land is essentially already completed in Uni Japan and is well underway in Hollywood. Shared costs and all that. Though i'm concerned Florida's exclusive Donkey Kong ride might get scrapped. And like I said, Potter-verse is a proven consistent franchise for them.

But Monsters and HTTYD don't have existing versions elsewhere to share costs with and also aren't as popular or marketable as Nintendo and Potter. So i'll be surprised if we'll see them resurface again sadly.
