Ok,when does it finally hit you when you realise " were there at last " Is it when you get to your resort? Or when you see something that brings back memories ? For me it's when i arrive at my resort,it's like coming home to the place you love.My DW loves to see the castle from end of main st USA.She just stands there for a few moments to take it all in.Your thoughts please.:) This has probably been discussed many times in these threads but with so many of us going in the next few months, just want to hear your answers.

We always drive to Disney World and it takes us roughly 20 hours so usually when we go under the WDW sign we are just like "ahh thank goodness, it's about time!" It doesn't really hit us though until we get off the monorail and walk down the ramp going to the magic kingdom. At that moment, the monorail track is at eye level, you can see the seven seas lagoon and the contemporary, and when you look to the left, you see main street station and hear the train. For me, the train whistle and the bell have such unique sounds, and when I hear those then I know, I'm at Disney World.

For me the feeling of "we're there at last" is just after checking into the resort and walking to find our room. It is just a giddy feeling because you can relax now and it is time for all the fun to begin. We always drop off our carry-ons and head straight to the MK. Waiting for that first bus to arrive is just so exciting.

Another would have to be waiting at the airport to board, and seeing all the anxious kids, piles of stuffed Mickey and Minnie's, and all the parents trying to keep track!

My heart skips a beat when I see the South of The Border signs, knowing we're just about 1/2 way there. LOL:D
Seriously though, when we're on I-4 and see the Disney billboards, and we look around and see Sea World, and Universal my boys yell- "We're here!". LOL:D
The WDW sign makes me sing Zipideedoodah!:D
When the CM says Welcome Home, I feel I have truly arrived! I hit the pool, and have a drink watching the boys go down the slide 100 times, then I know I am at the most magical place on earth.;)

The title of your post fooled me. I was excited for you that you had arrived. I know you have been posting about your upcoming trip, So I looked on How many days left post to see if you were close.
For us it comes first when we see the first palm tree after landing in Orlando, then as ME bus goes under the Welcome to WDW sign, then it really hits when we enter MK to the unique sounds of Main St music and look up to see the castle.
Not yet my friend, but getting there.:)

When I pass under that Walt Disney World thingy on the freeway and finally enter Disney property I'm sold. For me though really it starts when my plane flies away from the airport to begin with.

As a kid growing up in NH, our family trips were always taken during our week off in February. We'd board a plane in the middle of grey/cloudy/nasty/snowy weather, and land in sunny/green/warm Orlando. For us, the descent into Orlando and seeing all that green made it all magical. The airport, the tram, the bus, the resort... it was all awesome.

It doesn't matter how we get there...air or car...everything (seeing Epcot from the air, "welcome to Orlando," driving through the Maingate, checking into the hotel, you name it)...it's all just the excitement building me up to the moment...the moment I take that turn on MSUSA and have the Castle directly in front of me.

And I'm not one to just stand there. It's kind of like a moth drawn to a flame...I keep a steady pace just heading straight for the castle. Of course, I have to stop myself if our plans take us someplace other than Fantasyland. :D

I realize I'm there whenever we ride the tram from the terminal at the airport to the main hub.... thats whenever i look at my husband and just start smiling really big... we dont even have to say a word in that moment... its magical :)

I would reply to this post, but it seems my wife beat me to it. Same answer. We have discussed this exat subject before.

One Little Spark...
I'd say it's a feeling that wells up starting as soon as I get the first glimpse of Orlando out of the plane window.

I never tell the kid we are going, so for her it starts when she sees the Magical Express busses outside the window. Last year I told her we were going to go see her mom (who lives in DC), hence the "Disneyworld DC!" comment. In reality, she was meeting us there with her 10 year old Uncle, but the kid didn't know that either. (skip to 45 seconds to see when she finally figured it out, all of a sudden the bag wasn't heavy anymore!)

It grows during check in at the hotel, and once we are all set, it keeps growing as we go to the hotel gift shop, but some ears and pick out a new lanyard and some pins.

It gets more intense once we hop a bus to EPCOT, and I feel the butterflies start once we board the monorail and I hear "please stand clear of the doors"

The suspense builds as I get off at TTC, and we board the Ferry to MK, and take our traditional place on the top level in the front, and peer off at the distant castle and admire the looming Contemporary and ornate Grand Floridian.

And then, walking up Main Street, looking at the castle for the first time in a year in person, that's when I well up a little bit. We're home.

Great thread! For me, I'd say the 'Disney excitement' feeling comes in waves. I'm not a great flyer, and the flight from London is as close to hell as I can imagine, which makes the final destination seem all the more wonderful. The first round of uncontainable excitement comes when we're flying over Florida and I see the pools and palm trees (I'm always looking out for the castle and the tree of life, but I can never quite catch them!). Next when we finally drive through the Walt Disney World gate, and catch glimpses of the Water Tower, Tower of Terror, Epcot etc. The Magic Kingdom is always our first park, and taking the tram from the parking lot (we're always in Pluto, but I guess we'll be in Simba this year!) to the Transportation and Ticket Centre, boarding the monorail, strolling down the ramp and soaking in the wonderful music are all oh so magical! And then of course entering Main Street and seeing the Castle - there is nothing like it! And finally getting on Space Mountain (which is always the first ride), walking through the queue and finally waiting to blast off! I get excited before riding every ride, but that first one is always special. And of course my excitement is renewed when my stomach tells me it's hungry and we head to Pecos Bill's or grab a churro or some ice cream (Citrus Swirl, Dole Whip, Strawberry ice cream on Main Street - the choice is so difficult!). And at the end of the day when I'm so tired I think I'll pass out if I feel any more excited, I see the fireworks and am swept off my feet. Now that's what I call excitement! :D
