Old TTA Audio

I'm sorry... It's a cross I have to bear... :D

No need to apologize. I am actually glad that there is someone here that has so much knowledge about the parks. It keeps the forum well policed, and adds credibility to forum conversations.

Hello, guys I just got back from the world and I found something very interesting. While leaving Tomorrowland after a few minutes after closing, guess what I heard? The old TTA audio!!!At first that I was just hearing things but I wasn't!! I was wondering why and how this is happening and if anyone else has heard this? :veryconfu

Could it be the Overtakers playing around again???? especially seeing as it was just after closing!!!!

There are always those nostalgia-focused souls who are saddened by any change, even changes that actually improve the attraction. Star Tours comes to mind.

Then there are those who complain bitterly when certain good features are removed from an attraction, but over all the change is an improvement. Spaceship Earth comes to mind.

Finally there are those who rightly complain when something far superior is removed in favor of utter idiocy. The new TTA narration is worse in every way. Even if it's similar to some old original narration, the last one was far superior, and should have been kept. And should be returned. And could be returned very easily. I, for one, have not complained about the new version of any other attraction other than to say that I preferred Jeremy Irons' Spaceship Earth voice over Judi Dench's. Nevertheless, I fully acknowledge that the over all upgrade to Spaceship Earth is superior to the old version, and I like it.

The new TTA, on the other hand, has no redeeming qualities. No honest and informed person with an IQ above that of a tree sloth, to my knowledge, prefers it. In fact, it has the fleeting quality of an interim version that somehow became permanent. A few switches should be flipped, and the former version brought back.

Doesn't this post place you in either of the two categories you listed above?

You say that the new narration is "Mediocre, overly-commercial, wimpy, utterly devoid of imagination", but this is sheer opinion. Nor do you have any empirical evidence to suggest that everyone who rides the TTA loathes the new narration as much as you do.

This thread has officially confused me. What is the "old" narration referred to in the original post? How many "old" narrations are there -- Three?

I want too say that when I went to the world last, I heard the audio too as background noise in between MILF & SGE. I remember thinking is that the old "paging tom morrow" audio, but I kept walking.

I liked the old one better. I don't think it is as extreme as a lot of yall are making it out to be, but the 94 narration had a character and quality about it that the new one does not. It had soul! For me, if I really want to hear it, I just pull it up on the zen and listen while I ride. No big deal. Maybe what the op was hearing was an updated version of the old narration? The stitch and Monsters inc part weren't mentioned, maybe they're adding them in with the style of the 94 narration. Even though neither fit in TLand as well as TK and AE did, still I much prefer the old narration, but I won't lose sleep or have my trip ruined because of it.

I have yet to see anyone defend it, thus I assume that only a tiny unvocal minority, if anyone, thinks it's better. Or, empirically, virtually no one thinks it's better.

Really? How often do you hear complaints about the 2007 updates to the mansion? How many people complain that Food Rocks was superior to its replacement in Soarin? How many people do you here complain about the extinction of the show in tommorowland where people interacted with Stitch using a video screen? How many people do you hear complain about the extinction of Mission to Mars? How many complain about the replacement of Micky Mouse Revue with the current Philhar Magic (Martin I know there where other shows in between).

The list could go on, but the fact is there are very few complaints about these things. Thats because when Disney does something well there are not many complaints. When Disney does something poorly there are more complaints. Just because something is the original (as evidenced by a couple examples on the above list) it does not make it the best iteration.

I guess you've been reading a different site than I have been. I've been reading these boards since the start of WDWMagic and it has devolved into complaining about nearly everything. There is an awful lot wrong with what has happened to the quality of Walt Disney World, but the post that I was replying made a good point.

You have your OPINION and I have mine. I like that the new narration is a lot more relaxing and it's not screaming at you the whole time as the prior iteration, although the voice-over talent in the '94 version is superb.

Again, you go through all of your examples, but go through the tens of thousands of posts, the theme is generally consistent, no matter what they do, the complaints are abound here. Why does it not seem to hard to believe that if they brought back Dreamfinder and re-created the original Journey Into Imagination, we'd end up having those with their rose-colored glasses here then complaining about what they wanted back?

You cite Soarin', btw. Sorry, I know a lot of people that are far from impressed by it. We had giant OmniMax screens in Horizons nearly three decades ago. Food Rocks was an obvious downgrade from Kitchen Kabaret, but it's not universally beloved. To me, it shows the incredible weakness of the attraction roster at Epcot that it is so busy.

Can someone post Audio of this switch and link to the most reason version before this latest switch? (now my head hurts!)

You are entitled to your opinion as you have already stated, but I want you to know that we are agreeable on Soarin. I am not overly impressed with it and the wait times almost always exceed the payoff of the attraction. Nevertheless, by most accounts, it is a superior attraction to Food Rocks and the beloved and nostalgic Kitchen Kabaret. I personally liked both of the former shows, they had charm, but Soarin is typically considered superior.

BTW, I really miss Horizons and wish that it could coexsist with the less extravagant Mission Space. Lastly, I find it ironic that you begin posting in this thread by complaining of others complaining, and then you end your response (bolded above) with a complaint. I agree with your complaint, but that does not make it any less ironic.

Can someone post Audio of this switch and link to the most reason version before this latest switch? (now my head hurts!)

It is a bit confusing. LOL!

You guys are misreading the OP's comments...He mentions that just after closing that the old TTA spiel was heard, not on the ride itself. As if a background loop is playing an old spiel.

Yes!! Thank you for pointing this out to everyone.
