Old Skyway Stations

When we last visited the TL ststion just seemed to be there for toilets and the shop. From a distance it really said `look, we closed this ride but couldn`t be bothered to remove this`. And that god awful stage in front of it trying to hide the old station but insted saying `look, were trying o hide a closed ride`. That whole area, with seasonal CoP, looked like it was going a la DLC Tomorrowland. Thankfully, thats as far as it went (Timekeeper apart, but at least thats still intact).

Over the years there have been rumours about a new theatre for Captain EO in TL, over the railroad tracks with its entrance by the skyway (not that that will happen now. Shame...) And where was Plectus Galactic Review going to go?

As for the FL station, there was a rumour a bit ago to build a new Villan land (and Mountain...) behind 20,000L and IOASW. One of its walkway entrances was to be where the station is now. I kind of hope they keep the FL staion - it does look really nice and ups the FL theming. A resteraunt would be nice - even a general merch use is ok since there are no real shops in this area until the castle area, if I`m correct?

I remember when I was working there last year, one of the imagineers involved with Mickey's Philharmagic was taking some pictures of the fantasyland side of the Skyway. Later during the night, they were on top of small world pointing at the Skyway and taking more pictures. Didnt have a chance to ask him about but I'm sure they'll do something with it. I doubt it will itself become a full attraction as there is little room to work with. There is space between Small World and Haunted mansion show buildings if they really wanted to put something there, but it would have to be elevated as we used to put huge dumpsters behind it during peak seasons. I remember one grad night when I had to check out the Skyway late at night to catch any teenagers. I gets pretty spooky up there at night, especially after hours. Caught two teenage kids up there though. The look on their faces was hilarious.

Oh yeah, during peak times (easter, 4th of July, etc.) we used the queue for the Skyway to hold all the strollers from small world. On a normal day it was a character meet & greet (usually for snow white & dopey) and we would tell kids its snow white's house. If anything would happen, I could see them building snow whites house right on that spot for future meet & greets. This would free up the Fantasyland Character Festival entrance to be used for the next E-attraction.

That is correct. Now, as far as the Fantasyland Skyway Station goes, there's really no room there for anything. The whole station backs up into the Haunted Mansion show building. That's why it's on a false hill. And Small World is right next to it. Don't expect anything there soon. As for Tomorrowland, well, the little stage in front of the old tomorrowland Skyway Station is set to be removed soon. WDI is mostly focused on Project Gemini right now, but Tomorrowland is next in line, with a few changes in Fantasyland as well. Tomorrowland's station will be removed, and something new will be built there, after all, there's a lot more room there then you'd think. ;) Espically on the other side of the train tracks. But that's not going to happen for quite a while. The Fantasyland 20,000 Leagues project comes first... they plan to fill in the lagoon next year.

Bill, you're killing me. What might you be able to divulge about the lagoon project. When you say "fill in", do you mean with concrete? In general, when will we start hearing about projects other than the already announced ones - Stich, Soarin, E:E and Motors Action.

When you ask? That's easy. When the current ones are complete.

Seriously, that is the plan, just to fill in the lagoon. Current Plans have the lagoon filled in, the show building torn down, and a pathway from there to the other side of Toon Town Fair. No plans for rides though. Eventually a ride will be added, but not in the foreseeable future. Just a fill in of the lagoon.

I would like to see the Tommorowland Skybuilding turned into a nice 'Meet & Greet' area. But the Fantasyland building, I want to see a ride there.

It would be better for use as an Meet & greet. There is simply not enough room between Small World & Haunted Mansion show buildings. Plus the gates to the right of the Skyway serve as an entrance for various maintenance & emergency vehicles.

Yeah, Don't expect something in Fantasyland other then a meet & greet or Stroller Rental/Parking. Tomorrowland has room, but not that area of Fantasyland.

The buckets ARE being stored in the TL station.

BTW, the old "turn-station" for the skyway was the refurb and current "garage" for Goofy's Barnstormer trains.

i think they should turn both of them into restaurants. the FL one is really too small for anything other than a fast food/snack restaurant, which i think would be fine.
not sure if a full service restaurant would fit in the TL one, though...it may. it would probably have to be a really small area, but it just may work. i think that'd be great to have there! that building has a great view!

yeah, the TL station is there just for the restrooms now...the shop is gone. least it was last time i was there. and that stage was there before the skyway shut down, so they didn't build it to try to 'hide' skyway.

i never heard about a walkway going into the FL station's current spot...i don't see how that would've happened. as others have mentioned, that's where the HM and IASW show areas are. maybe i just didn't read what you wrote correctly, but a pathway in that area would lead to backstage.

there's a shop right beside the FL station...it used to have kitchen goods: aprons, oven mits, jams, and other kitcheny things. now they've turned it into a HM/pirate store, which is great! they have a lot more HM merch. than the cart (obviously since the cart can't hold very much).

Well if you remeber sky way is where you sometimes could go and meet snow white, dopey, and sometimes Aurora. Most people are looking for Princesses so why not there. I mean you still can have Cinderella over at Toon Town and Belle over by her story time. Or shoot even make it into a food stand right there or maybe bathrooms, but I like the stroller parking thing the best. I hate going throught that section of the park due to all the freaking strollers. As for the Tomorrow land one I dont know hopefully something futuristic can go there I mean what other movies has Disney produced that could possibly go there?

Ummm.....Disneyland. It was part of the (sigh) Tomorrowland 2055 redo that Eisner canned. It would have been marvelous.

IPlectu's was never part of the proposed "Discoveryland" makeover at WDW.

As for the Skyway station in Tomorrowland...I say use it as the queue and station for a new, launched Space Mountain.
The one in Fantasyland is so hemmed in on all sides, it doesn't have any practical use as a new attraction.

And there was never going to be a new land behind Small World and 20K. Just a rumor.

It would be great for them to fill up the lagoon, and then just place tons of rolling hills and tress along with a nice path there. Just a place to hang out and chill, kinda like a giant park.

I'm assuming there's no chance of them putting in a new overhead transportation system, eh?

I always enjoyed riding on the cable cars, it was quite relaxing and sceninc. I can understand the reasons behind it, but I guess I always kind of hoped they would come up with 'something' along those lines to replace it.
