Old Pirates Question

Hi, I was wondering in POTC you can take board the boat in two different areas depending on which line you are on. Are there two different drops/rides or do you meet up at some point and if you meet up where is that? I was wondering because some times when I was on the ride the drop seems steeper than at other times. Also what are the changes that will take place before they reopen in July?

There is no difference in rides. The split in the line only dictates which side you board.

EDIT: I should put that more clearly... I'll see if I can find the loading diagram.

There is no difference in rides. The left line seems to be open during higher crowds with the right line being open all the time. I know people who say the left side's queue is physically shorter, I am not sure if that is true or not.

When PotC first opened, it had a duel load arrangement, think of Big Thundermountains load with water. The first (inner) load channel was decommisisoned and covered over after an accident with someone who did not keep arms and hands inside the boat at all times.

A redesigned duel channel load will, however, be returning in July. Along with some A-100 Animatronics, new show lighting and audio equipment, rehabbed boats, and quite a few new visual effects - some of which if they are as good as they sound will do the ride a lot of good.

But they still ride on the same track right?

I thought one line just put you in the front boat and the other line put you in the back boat? :veryconfu
That's how it was, but that is apparently changing to have a system more like Disneyland's. Are they still planning on having guests now unload at the same place they load and adding show scenes on the lifthill?

to answer this question since it hasn't been yet:

Animatronics of Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbosa and being incorporated into the ride...

Both sides are/have been fully functional. However, most of the time the left side is only used for wheelchair guests, but it remains working.

My last trip we used it quite a few times, and there was a great CM who told stories and such as he led us through the alternate passages. Hadn't seen down there in about 15 years since I was a kid, and it was quite fun to see the additional props.

Both sides of the queue are open during the summer. I've literally run down the left queue while the right side was backed up out the turnstile!

Okay, this may sound a little silly, but my mom has ALWAYS told me, if given the choice, to choose the left side, because most people typically choose the right. I have never really noticed much of a difference, but I will let her know that you have proved her correct:lol:
