Old news to us but NY Post is reporting...

There was a time when a major newspaper could never write an article based entirely on rumor or the writings of a "blogger". But somewhere along the line it became acceptable, with the logic that newspapers needed to compete with Internet boards like this one. The problem is, newspapers can't compete with the speed and "off the record" insider info provided here - so they shouldn't even try. Instead, they should be CREDIBLE - so that you can trust the information you read there more than what you'd get from Jim Hill, or what someone on this board heard from a Disney bus driver.

With the general economy skewing toward recessionary trends, high fuel costs and tight airline capacity making a visit to 'the World' a challenge, Disney does tend to raise prices to maintain bottom line targets rather than find ways to make the experience more affordable (yes, I know the whole 'its a business' argument). And taking a shot at 'adult-only' attractions has been a mixed grill (remember Disney Institute?). Given that, if I were a Mythbuster, I'd say that they think an 'adult-only, $250/person' experience is .....plausable.

From the article:
The on-the-drawing-board park is a $520 million after-dark experience in Orlando to be called "Night Kingdom" that will run from 4 p.m. to midnight, and bypass traditional rides for adventure experiences like zip-lines, spelunking, rock-climbing, and night safari.

Disney reportedly will unveil the plan later this year, with an eye towards a launch of the park - which will be adjacent to its Pleasure Island attraction and have a capacity of 2,000 guests a day - in October 2011.

These 2 items don't compute. A night safari next to Pleasure Island? What a load of hooey!

That sound you hear is Jim Hill'e ego exploding after being mentioned in the NYT. ;)

I personally wouldn't spend the money on this "theme park". If they want to build it, that's their perogative. But I feel it would tarnish, to some degree, Disney's image of a family vacation destination.

I think the confusion probably stems from the Adventurers Club rumor and the NYP reporter not understanding that club may be moved to this new park area
