Aww man.. I love the Muppets.. but wait.. is Big Bird a Muppet?
Sesame Street and The Muppets were done by the same people so Kermit would make special appearances on SS and I've even seen an episode from Season One of The Muppet Show with Ernie and Bert. They also did Fraggle Rock.

The cool thing about this DVD is that it also includes "The Christmas Toy".

OMG!! Really? Truly? I loved that special since I saw it for the first time. Is it the same one I'm thinking of? With the Tiger Cat and the catnip mouse? And how the stuffed animals would "freeze" if they were seen out of their places? I'm heading over to amazon pronto.

I remember that movie, If dolls were moving, or in a different place from where they were placed they would freeze (die). Didn't they all come back to life at the end? Anyway, that's a great movie

I have the English DVD of a " A Muppet Family Christmas " that I got from here...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000C24UZ/qid=1139547785/sr=8-6/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i6_xgl/026-0809755-2109252

This version includes all the songs from the original television debut, unlike the american version which had songs cut due to legal reasons.

You'll just need to make sure you have a multi-regional dvd player.

The cool thing about this DVD is that it also includes "The Christmas Toy".

Now all I need is the "Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas" dvd and my Henson Holiday specials will be complete.:)

Picture of Emmet Otter's Jugband is below.

What songs were cut out of the American version? I belive I recorded the Muppet Christmas from Nickeloden in like 1989. Would the songs be cut off that one?

I think the movie with them in the hotels was "Muppets take Manhattan". Or I might have the hotel confused with when they were sleeping in the lockers at the bus station...

I don't believe there were any cuts made until the mid-90's when the Muppet Family Christmas was released on video.

Here's a list of the cut scenes...

The snowman musical and comedy number with Fozzie is completely gone. They sing "Sleigh Ride" in the original version. Rowlf begins the song by playing "Sleigh Ride" on Emily Bear's out-of-tune piano. Rowlf says he "loves out-of-tune pianos" while Sprocket watches him play. Fozzie, the Snowman, and penguins sing outside. This is a very abrupt and obvious edit.

The Muppet Babies film "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" is removed. The film begins and Animal immediately bursts through the screen. Included in the broadcast version of the film are the baby versions of Piggy, Kermit, Fozzie, Rowlf, Scooter, Fozzie, and Gonzo. This is another clear edit that something is missing. Doc comments that the film was fun when there was nothing for him to see other than a one second shot of Baby Piggy and Animal immediately bursting through the screen!

Miss Piggy and the Muppets singing "Home for the Holidays" is not shown when she arrives at the farmhouse. Miss Piggy falling on the icy patch is also removed. When Kermit mentions that Miss Piggy always likes to make an entrance, the video release cuts immediately to the beginning of the Carol Sing Medley.

"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day" are edited out during the Carol Sing Medley.

Emily Bear hangs Fozzie's stocking underneath the fire. Fozzie mentions that he's a grown bear alluding to the fact he doesn't need it anymore. When Emily reaches to take it down, Fozzie decides it's ok to leave it up. This entire scene is removed. This occurs right before Kermit gives Miss Piggy a mink for Christmas.

hey did this movie have something to do w/ a hotel? I remember seeing a muppet movie w/ a hotel in it. In the move the hotel is run by all the muppets. I'm don't remember what muppet movie that was.

You're thinking of the Happiness Hotel from the film, "The Great Muppet Caper".

The giftshop at Muppet's 3-D is themed after the Happiness Hotel.
Here's a picture of it from my photo album.

Every scene is there except the last one, with Fozzies mom hanging a stocking. I'll have to watch it again, but I'm pretty sure it's not there. Thanks:wave:

i have an old video tape of that too, taped off of tv in the late 80's. it IS available on vhs, but i wouldn't recommend it, they couldn't get the rights to all of the songs for sale (just broadcast) so the home video version is cut up and only half the length

Yep, that's where we got ours, too...and we get it out every Christmas. :xmas: Emmett Otter's Jug-Band Christmas is another favorite - and it just isn't Christmas without The Muppets Christmas Carol, heh heh...

Wow. I'm going to have to turn in my Muppet fan club card. After years of visiting the World, after shopping many times in that store, I've NEVER noticed this before. :hammer: Thanks for pointing that out.

Just goes to show you that people don't look up!

I was just looking through my old VHS tapes, and I found the Muppets Christmas special. I don't know who remembers it, but the whole gang went to Fozzies moms house for Christmas. It has the Muppets, the Sesamestreet(spelling) cast, and the Fraggels. I just recorded it onto a DVD, and I'm so glad I found this. It also has a brief cameo by Jim Henson at the end. Anyway, does anyone else remember this classic Muppet film?

Yes...Yes I do...It's on Youtube...And be careful of the Icy Patch!!!

"A Muppet Family Christmas" is a great show.
Good old Swedish Chef:
"Tourkey! Tourkey! Tourkey! Gobbla Gobbla Humunga!"

But our favorite Christmas show is, "John Denver and the Muppets, A Christmas Together", from the mid 70's. Great show, great songs.

Including:
Pig: "Piggy pudding?!"
Gonzo: "No, figgy pudding, it's made with figs."
Pig; "Oh"
Animal: "And bacon!"
Pig: "What!?"

:xmas:
