Old Key West Construction

The portecochere and part of the lobby area of Disney's Old Key West resort are undergoing construction. They are expanding the area dedicated to resort airline checkin. Due to the addition of Southwest Airlines there was not enough room for baggage storage and was causing crowd control issues in and around the Hospitality House.

During this construction Walt Disney World transportation busses are not stopping at the Hospitality House. Guests are advised to use the Millers Road or Peninsular Road stops. Disney's Magical Express still drops off and picks up at the Hospitality House.

This construction is expected to be completed by the second week of July.

hmm... will be arriving on the 12th of July. Hope this is done either before or at the beginning of our stay. Shouldn't be much of a problem either way. Thanks for the heads up.

I just finished a stay at old key west and I saw all the bus directional signs around the resort before I saw the construction. At first I thought this was a safety issue due to old key west's bus system is very similar (and I don't mean that in a good way) to fort wilderness. But then I saw the aforementioned construction.
I believe as of right now old key west and Caribbean beach are the only two resorts that don't participate in the luggage handling aspect of guests using Southwest Airlines for Disneys Magical Express due to their facilities
not being able to handle the capacity. This construction should fix that
