And that's valid. no one knows what resale will look like in 20 years either to know if that money could be made back. I hope you can find a 2057 contract. they're out there.... but definitely more unicorn like.
It's funny... My wife and I say down for my learning tonight, and stumbled on a resale vs direct, and if you factor in discounts etc, and having the points now and banking them etc, I think she may of decided we may need to go direct as it's easier... It's 5 dollars off a point right now till the 16th so time to think.... She started really looking at it after that video....idk still.

I've always thought the OKW direct was one of better deals for a direct purchase. Like I said above the math isn't bad on it. Resale 2057s are true unicorns. Good luck deciding.

Its just beating the " but its cheaper" out of us. I have a note in for a few more questions to the direct rep im talking about. its 5 dollars off a point per point right now direct for OKW so thats something.

I forgot that they are offering a little off as well for old resorts. $5 isn't huge but better than nothing.

It is. I think it comes down to looking at the extra years, and the benefits. vs a pure " but its cheaper" financial look i guess.
I can say for us the AP discount to Gold is huge to us. The $400+ per person savings on AP can add up fast. The rest of the perks... eh... but while they can come and go, it's not bad to look at for short term savings.

We never thought of the APs until we came across that video. LIke it was never on our radar. We always said " were not AP people. But if we have it, and say are down for a Resort only, but want to run to EPCOT or MK for an afternoon just to ride something or buy something new, we can.. i like that flex. i also got to thinking if we bought it for christmas each year, that could be our christmas gift to each other. Activate in say august for a first trip, go again in december, and again in July the next year and renew. Get 3 trips out of 1 AP, that might make the money worth it, if we can stagger and get say 3 trips out of it.

Weve decided to go Direct. Disney is making it super easy, and its something we can afford, and make larger payments on. Seemed like the right thing to do. Ive got an appointment to call the rep ive been working with to get the ball rolling monday.

Welcome home (almost)! Financially it sounds like a good call! Enjoy owning at OKW and taking advantage of booking GVs ;) but seriously HH rooms more easily.

If you don’t mind my asking, how many points have you decided on?

150 points to start. Once were settled in a few years we will add another 100 possibly, At OKW 150 will do what we need it to do.
Cool, and almost welcome home! We started at 160 about 14 years ago, and are up to 400 so far. Next add on will be at BWV. Even though we own all of our points at SSR, we’ve stayed at almost all DVC resorts so far. We love BWV, and have stayed there multiple times switching over at the 7 month mark, so buying in to ensure the 11 month window.

Thank you!! We're super excited. We figured 150 would do what we want. When we get it all done we even get this year's points, so we will likely either yet to go for a long weekend of they manage a Christmas party, or bank em, and get a 1bedroom next year to take my nephew and his mom with us. We shall see. Don't want to get too too far ahead. Gotta get all the paperwork done.

May I ask, what did the final cost per point comes out to?

I'll have to find my notes again as I broke it out not just by what they wanted, but by what resale was etc. Broke it down by length of contract, and ultimately price per compared etc. Let me find that hen scratch paper in my office.
Have you guys stayed there? It's a great resort but very different from AKL. I know you love AKL and you might want to still consider buying there.

I've spent l week virtually visiting. We've watched every single video out there I swear. I love AKL, my wife wasn't as into AKL as I was. She felt it was still too much hotelish. She loves the "apartment or rental condo" feeling of OKW. I also loved that feel and vibe. AKL may be where we grab some resale points down the road to have a second home resort etc not sure. kidani was amazing, but ultimately we would stay again, but she didn't feel like it would be "home" OKW is open and airy and the vibe we rock on.
