Old Disney Afternoon Show

I am trying to get some information on a show that used to be in what is now Fantasyland in the early 90's possibly late 80's. I remember it featured all of the characters on the Disney Afternoon shows on the Disney Channel at the time. The only characters I remember were Chip and Dale, Darkwing Duck and talespin. If anyone knows where I can find a video of it, that would be great otherwise just the name of it would help. Thanks.

I realize that they all had their own shows on TV. I was asking about a show at Disney World where all the characters performed together. I think that Mickey got locked into Uncle Scrooge's vault and the Rescue Rangers later saved him followed by some singing and dancing. It had it's own building in what is now Fantasyland.

The Disney Afternoon show was in Mickey's Starland in the early 90's, and it featured characters from Ducktales, Tale Spin, Rescue Rangers, and Darkwing Duck. Not too sure about the Gummi Bears or Goof Troop.

I have some VERY old photos from the show and I've been meaning to scan them in for quite some time.

Goof Troop was added at the end of the show's lifespan. I believe it replaced another show? Not quite sure which. Ducktales, Tail Spin, Darkwing Duck, Goof Troup, and Bonkers are all in the shots that I took.

I remember that show very well. It had the Gummi Bears in it originally, but they were later replaced with Goof Troop (just like on TV). Tale Spin was also replaced by Darkwing Duck I think.

I loved those shows. Cartoons just aren't the same these days. I was just saying the other day that they should have a cartoon history channel, where they just show old cartoons from years past.

Lets not forget about the emcee.....CJ...CJ (as the computer would say it in the show)

I loved that show (as you'll probably guess from the recount of it below). The official title, I believe was "Mickey's Starland Show." It was basically an advertisement for the Disney Afternoon cartoons. It replaced the show that celebrated Mickey's 60th Birthday back when the area opened as Mickey's Birthdayland in 1988. The show took place in the tent behind Mickey's House.

In the original Mickey's Birthdayland show, you saw Minnie, her human neighbor and the rest of the gang prepare for a surprise party for Mickey. And then you followed the gang to a second room where they danced the finale on top of a cake to the tune of "Happy, Happy Birthday to You" (a version with different lyrics was available on "Mickey Mouse SplashDance" and "Walt Disney Records Children's Song Collection: Birthday Songs").

Let's see how good my memory is: The version I remember best is the original version that had Gummi Bears, Ducktales, Tale Spin and Rescue Rangers. Darkwing Duck (which took the place of Gummi Bears) and Goof Troop (which took the place of Ducktales) were indeed added later on in different versions (And I vaguely remember Bonkers coming in to replace Darkwing Duck), but the format remained relatively the same. There are probably errors in the quotes and lyrics, but at least it helps give the general idea and hopefully bring back some memories of the show. As far as video or audio of the show, I haven't seen any floating around on the Internet.

Mickey's Starland Show opens with the computer named Dude

Dude:
My name is Dude,
I'm Number One
We're gonna have all kinds of fun!
I'm the one who runs this show,
I'm the Master Rapper Computer Control

He then introduces Scrooge McDuck & Lauchpad McQuack, Baloo & Louie, Chip & Dale and finally

To help us get us going today,
Here's my DJ protege,
CJ! CJ CJ!

CJ & Dude then introduce Mickey,

CJ: I am CJ, don't you know?
We're all here come on let's go!
Clap and cheer bring down the house,
Here's our star it's Mickey Mouse!

but Mickey doesn't appear after a few tries.

Dude: It's getting late, you gotta go,
We can't wait so start the show,
Don't be sad and don't despair,
Bring on the magic of Zummi Gummi Bear

Zummi comes out and tells CJ that Mickey is on his way. After bringing out the Great Book of Gummi, he brings out his Magic Box with a Magic Key in it. CJ takes the key...

CJ: Well, maybe this magic key will help me find Mickey.

She leaves and Zummi finishes the trick and who should appear but Mickey!

Then they leave the stage and CJ comes back saying she's looked everywhere. The audience then tells her he was just there and she runs after him telling Dude to "keep the show rolling"

Next Dude introduces Baloo & Louie who come out and sing the Tale Spin song with Mickey. They then ask the audience to do the Tale Spin together,

Put your arms,
Way up high!
To the Sky!
Start to fly!
And now you gotta spin!

CJ comes back and, of course, couldn't find Mickey. She then asks the audience and trys to follow their lead but Dude tells her she needs to stay and introduce the guys from DuckTales. She beings the Ducktales theme song and Scrooge and Launchpad make an entrance in Launchpad fashion:

Scrooge: This dunderhead crash landed us right through the roof of my money vault!
Launchpad: Gee Mr. McD. I told you I could stop my plane on a dime. Get it? On a dime!

They then finish up the song exiting off stage into the money vault which Launchpad "mistakenly" closes, locking them in.

Launchpad: Guess I wasn't supposed to close that door.

Dude then calls on Chip and Dale to come rescue them. They come out along with Mickey and sing the Rescue Rangers theme song.

The three hear the people in the vault.

Mickey: Gee, are you all right?
Launchpad: We're safe. Get it? Heh heh. Safe?
Scrooge & CJ: Launchpad!
CJ: That's not funny.

As Mickey, Chip, and Dale finish the theme song, they load the safe door with dynamite and, on the count of three, they blow the safe open.

All of the characters come out to see what's going on.

CJ: You did it!
Chip & Dale: All in the line of duty!
Scrooge: Oh, I canna thank you enough.
CJ: Mickey, where have you been? Well, at least you're in time for the finale!
Mickey: Oh, boy!
CJ: It's so great to have you here,
I guess it's really clear,
There's so much to do,
Getting ready just for you,
Mickey: [Can't remember lyrics here]
All: In the Afternoon!
CJ: We've all had so much fun,
Now the fun has just begun,
Any kind of weather,
We get together,
in the Disney Afternoon!

Hey Dude,
Where did the time go today?
I'm so glad,
We had this time just to play!
I hope you,
Made a bunch of new friends here,
We had the best time,
Here at Mickey's,
Here at Mickey's Starland Show!

After a brief rhyming intro from Dude, each of the characters say goodbye

Mickey: Bye Folks! Hope you had a swell time!
CJ: We had the best time,
ALL: We had the best time,
Here at Mickey's,
(Ha! Ha!)
Here at
Mic...key's...Star..land Show!

Wow, I hadn't thought about that show in years. I loved that show as a kid. What a trip down memory lane! Yeah, they don't make cartoons like they used to.

Anyway, hope y'all enjoyed that and hope it back brought back some good memories to you as well.

I loved watching those shows constantly. I even had Ducktales on my Gameboy and Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers on Nintendo. Those were good times. I have some pics of me as a kid at DL when they had the Dinsey Afternoon Crew at Toontown.

I've never heard of Boomerang. Maybe it's not included in my digital cable plan. I have heard of Toon Disney, but I thought they showed the newer cartoons. I wonder if I still have it. Does Vault Disney show those cartoons? I've always seen old Mickey Mouse Club and Disneyland TV shows. I love Vault Disney!

I remember this show very well. At different points, it featured Ducktales,Talespin,Gummi Bears,Chip and Dale,Darkwing Duck,Bonkers and Goof Troop (I'm pretty I'm not missing anyone). It also featured Mickey of course. It was a good show and a great way to get out of the sun. I remember being disappointed because there was no meet and greet after the show (and we never saw those characters out in the parks with the exception of Chip and Dale and Darkwing Duck). Were those characters ever out ?

I miss those old TV shows. They were great. Sigh.... I remember being little and not having the Disney Channel on our cable plan. Probably about twice a year it would come on for a weekend for free. I would record everything for that weekend. I remember great shows like Adv. in Wonderland, Mouse Tracks, Mousercise, Dumbos Circus, Winnie the Pooh (the live-action show), Spellbinder, Fraggle Rock and also movies like Benji,Ewok Adventures,Neverending Story and of course Disney classics. Now that we DO have the channel, IT'S CRAP. Funny how life works out. I'd probably still watch those shows if they were on. Even Nickelodeon had awesome shows back then. What a bummer for kids these days, theyre really missing out.

OMG.... I actually remember that!!! I had totally blocked that out of my memory. Thanks for the flashback.

I used to love Ducktales!!! "Ducktales... wooo-ooooo". I loved Dumbos Circus and Fraggle Rock. Does anyone else remember that live action Alice and Wonderland? All this talk about old shows is making me sad.

Yup! I remember the Alice show. I think Alice's house was on residential street when it existed, if memory serves correctly.

I used to hate the free disney channel weekends, but that was because we already subscribed to it. There were tons of commercials for people to call and order the channel and free thank you gifts were offered too. I just hated the phone number being on screen and stuff.

Anyone remember when Disney channel didn't have commercials? And when they had quality programming that was actually good? They could easily re-release the older cartoons, especially the old Mickey Mouse cartoons and kids would still like them. We don't need the cheap recreations that we have today. House of Mouse anyone? :brick:

I think disney should have their own classic disney channel similar to tvland. but with gummi bears, fraggle rock, adventures in wonderland, dumbo's circus. does anyone remember the show the raccoons? i loved kids inc. but my all time fave was MMC. that would be so fun if they did that :)
