I love AK for all of its parts: the rides, the shows, and the in-between. I think it is a park to linger over, and if your goal for your visit is to cram in as many rides as possible and move at warp-speed, it's not the park for you.

We have both in my family, I love the park and my wife isn't crazy about it, kids aren't sure yet. My wife like's certain things about parks, but she's not an animal person, doesn't like circus' or Zoo's (I know not-a-Zu)(wish they made a shirt with that on, but that's another subject). I'm hoping that when my kids get older that I one will be like me and we will get to go off exploring the whole park including animal trails and such.

Though one of our families favorite rides at WDW is Kali Raft.

We'll be there in November, two months from next Thursday.:sohappy:

i love AK. its the first park i go to, as soon as i see the tree of life i know my holiday has started.
i love the theming and everything -there is so much detail to everything from the rides to the tree of life to the floors and buildings in africa and asia.
as for the animals they are an added bonus - how many people have seen white rhinos or giraffes or elephants up close and are told little facts about them like what they eat and other interesting facts (this is at rafikis planet watch).
even if AK didnt have any rides like EE or KRR or shows like tarzan rocked or FOTLK i would still go coz i love it and there are other things to do.

as ive said i love AK and i spend all day there! the parade is one of my faves i think it just fits right in what with all the colours, music and aniamls they have.
i have so many pics of the tree of life coz as soon as i see it i get my camera and start taking pics of it from infront of it, the walkway between africa and asia and when its lit up when its EMH's -amazing!!!

AK is a park like no other!!

I like Animal Kingdom, but for some reason ( real or imagined) it seems like the hottest park. We always seem to make it there on the warmest days of our trip, of course we manage to hit the water parks on the coolest.:p

I mjust admit that I was not a fan of AK when it first opened. I guess liike most folks, I expected more rides, etc., and I even voiced my opinion at times it was a half-day park, at best.

Boy, has my opinion changed! Now, AK is one of my favorite days at Disney World!

We'll start the morning with an early breakfast at Donald's Breakfastosaurus, head straight for EE to collect Fast Passes, then hoof it on over to the safari and walk right on! The animals are much more active early mornings and evenings, so it's an ideal time to go.

After that, we kinda cruise through the day, enjoying a late lunch or early dinner at Rainforest Cafe (or drive over to Boma, which is what we did this past trip).

Can't wait to catch the new Nemo show when we return next year, and those rumours about the rebirth of Beastly Kingdom always whet my appetite.

AK may be an acquired taste for some, but give it time, and it'll grow on you.

If someone had only one day to do WDW, sure AK wouldn't be the park of choice in most cases. But AK is great! It is wonderfully themed, and a nice, relaxing change of pace!

It has grown on us. We went the year it opened and thought we'd love it. I don't like to be scared so Dinosaur was NOT for me. And I'm not a fan of bugs either so that movie was absolutely NOT for me. DH and I gave it another shot a few years later and still, not really for us.

Once we had our son, we gave it one more chance. DS LOVED IT!!! He loved the safari, petting zoo, and the trails. This year he was tall enough for the rapids and he had fun. On our last trip we went to AK twice, though still only for 1/2 days (we split it with EPCOT).

If you are all about hitting the thrill rides early and often, you probably will be disappointed by much of Animal Kingdom. In fact, those types of people probably wouldn't even notice a lot of what Animal Kingdom provides. It's like going to a museum and avoiding all the exhibits in order to get to the IMAX theater. If you can spend a day with just a few e-ticket attractions and then enjoying the animals, the scenery and maybe even learning a little bit (NOOOOOOOOO!!!), then AK is awesome.

The question that should be asked is-if you don't have a Park Hopper Option on your tickets, and all you really care about is the big exciting rides, should you use one of your days on Animal Kingdom when all there is for you is EE, Dinosaur, maybe Kali River Rapids (beautiful in detail, lousy in execution) and maybe It's Tough To Be A Bug?

hmm

I stil lthink the animal kingdom is a half day park. Most of the time for the Animal Kingdom is spent walking from place to place and waiting for that train (why do you have to take a train to that place with the animal hospital)

I see whyt some people like it.

For me its only a half day . Here on Long Island I have the bronx zoo, the wild safari, Long Island game farm, staten island and central park zoos.

So maybe I lost sensitivity to seeing animals .

BUt I can see why some people would spend a couple of days there if they live in an area of the country wich does not have very many zoos.
