Which would you do? Start out your vacation with Ohana or end it with Ohana?

Any other suggestions for favorite first/last dinners?

That would depend on arrival and departure time as well as your park schedule. It's hard to say with out more info. We did Sanaa as our last sit down Disney meal and plan on doing it again:)

Arrival would be afternoon, staying at the Poly and not planning on going to the parks that day. Departure would be early morning, so it would be the dinner before departure day.

Since you're not planning to go to a park on your first day, I'd start the trip off with a dinner in at 'home'! It'd be a fun way to stay in the theme. :)

We did Ohana on one of our last days and were too full from all the meals we had that week...it made me feel slightly like a failure!

Thats a good point! We plan on doing some serious eating this trip and want to have room for that delicious bread pudding!!

I agree! Last trip we did it on our last day we were so full from all the other meals and the kiddos were over it! Our next trip we are staying at the Poly as well and have an ADR for our first night. So looking forward to it!

Based on your itinerary the arrival day makes the most sense for sure.

For me, I wouldn't want to do a longer sit-down meal on my final night regardless. I'd be focused on doing as many attractions as possible to really make the most of those final hours.

I feel like I'd feel stressed over using up so much of my final hours at WDW eating.

Based on the info you have provided- Definitely arrival day! I'm all for a meal on the last evening too though.,..we have done resort/mini golf days on the day before departure on the past 2 trips.
That said, I cancelled Chef Mickey's a few hours before our 'last night' reservation earlier this month, kiddo just wanted to swim. We had a quick pizza and then hung out at the pool.

We are planning a 10 day trip w a 3 yr old, and our flight the next morning will leave early, so our last park day will be slower and end early. I think I will plan for Ohana on arrival and find a nice sit down dinner the last night somewhere not too far away.

With a 3 year old what about Chef Mickey's(not so much for the food) or crystal Palace that would be a nice way to say good bye to some of her friends.

If I were staying at the Poly I'd consider getting The Polynesian Twilight Feast from the room service menu instead of actually going to 'Ohana.

We stay at the Poly and usually arrive around 11a after taking the AutoTrain. First day lunch is usually the Plaza with dinner at Ohana. We don't do much at the park on that day, just walk around and maybe a fast pass or two. On our last day we have lunch at Kona before leaving at 1p.

The Twilight Feast is basically Ohana delivered to your room.

So if you followed along with the PTR you read that I found out about a special dining option exclusively for guests staying at the Poly. If you like ‘Ohana and want to experience it from your room then this is for you!

I had been doing a lot of research leading up to this trip trying to decide if we should get two adult orders, one adult and one child, or just one adult order for this in room experience. Unfortunately, not many people out there seem to know that this offering exists!(even those that call this place home and even named their cats after the Poly....hmmm who could that be?) I could not get conclusive answers to what a portion amounted too. I had a feeling an adult and a child portion would suit us fine but when checking in I asked the CM her opinion. She was pretty clear that one adult portion contained a lot of food. I am so glad we asked her because what we received in our “one adult” serving was ridiculous! (sorry for the fuzzy pics :()

There was SOOOOOOO much food!!! We even had food left over. The bread pudding portion was the side of my head! I would begrudgingly have to congratulate the individual that finishes off this single serving of food because that would be quite the feat! I mean…..so much food for a single serving. Anyway, I left one item off and that would be the Stitch juice of course! They provide you with a pitcher of juice. Now here you will see the makings of my favorite Disney Cruise Line drink, invented by me…patent pending, The Castaway Cocktail. You will see plenty more of this mix when the boat pictures make their appearance. Anyhow, it’s a mix of POG juice and coconut rum in the ratio that suits your fancy ;):D

We moved all the food to the back deck and enjoyed our feast until we could enjoy it no more…and still had food left over. Did I say there was a lot of food?

Before our food comas could fully set in we did manage to make our way to the deck chairs with our CCs and just listened to the ferry boats motor by while waiting for wishes to make an appearance.

If you can live without the ice cream, then the Twilight feast is the way to go IMO. Same food but from the comfort of your room and for less.

Another vote for first day. My only problem with 'Ohana is that I eat way too much, and then have to change my MK park storming plans for the evening. But if you're not going to a park that evening, go pork out and just head for your room after dinner. Sounds perfect!
