'Ohana Cutbacks?

So I was reading on another forum that 'Ohana is no longer serving chicken. Well as of today, according to the Disney website, it is true. Only shrimp, pork, and steak. Anyone know why?

Dang. It must have crossed the road.

(Seriously, though -- it seems to be in keeping with Disney's general trend of "simplifying," a/k/a offering fewer options but for higher prices, at all the Table Service restaurants. By way of example, in the months since we booked our ADR at Cinderella's Royal Table, I've noticed that the dinner menu has changed to eliminate the "all you care to enjoy" component while keeping the ardly portions the same, cut down the number of entree options to eliminate the priciest proteins (e.g. lamb, which was replaced by a dish featuring rice as the main component), while the cost for the meal has been increased.) Where I come from, that's as blatant a bait-and-switch ripoff as you can get.

Fozzie Bear: Hey, you're not a penguin. You're a chicken. I told you chickens to stay on the other side of the road.
[to no one in particular]
Fozzie Bear: Okay, everyone, why did this chicken cross the road?
Camilla: Ba-gawk, buck, ba-gawk, bawk, bawk, bawk.
Fozzie Bear: Oh, that's funny. Hey, everyone, why did the chicken cross the road?

Ugh, so annoyed as we have reservations with friends for next week and I cannot physically eat pork or steak without potential issues (EE). I guess shrimp it is!

Does anyone even think to consider perhaps it's only temporary? Maybe some of the chicken they received was tainted, bad, etc...

I hope so but in that case would imagine it would have to be property-wide and doesn't seem to be... unsure of how the WDW restaurants work from a purchasing standpoint, but would make sense to source from same places and aggregate orders for ingredients. (I could be WAY off base though.) Kona still has chicken too which suggests...

Nooooooo!! The chicken was the only meat that I ate there. I love the potstickers and dessert, too, but now I'm going to seriously reconsider the reservations I made there for August and October. :(

Thats a bummer, we have an ADR there this fall. I love all the food, but my wife doesn't like beef and is so so on pork, so she will be more upset to see the chicken go. Hopefully its temporary!
