Oh, those poor Ingalls girls...

The humidity is back today - yuck! I blame it on th Yankees.

Tomorrow is supposed to be ridiculously humid. They are predicting a heat index of 105. Now I know you Floridians around here are used to that kind of weather but here in the Northeast we just melt. I'm especially concerned the zombies will try to take advantage of our weakened state and use it as an opportunity to gain an advantage.

Yeah, we're supposed to have it all weekend.
Every time I mention moving to FL to my husband, he reminds me how uncomfortable it was there in the summer. I say it's worse here in the summer since we're not adjusted to it. So, I guess I'm doomed to being a snowbird for now.

There are some days when you Northerners just have to cool off somehow.

By the way, we're not so hot down here. Our cars have A/C, and most buildings have central A/C. Come on down and enjoy the modern conveniences!

Well, that's always been my argument, but I'm afraid it's not one I'm going to win. I am looking forward to spending a big chunk of the winter down there though.

I was talking about highway construction with my dad and mentioned that an overpass they are supposed to be building has been delayed (again) and won't be completed until at least 2025 - then I added that we'd all be living in Orlando by then. He sort of half laughed, and asked if we'd move to Florida when they do. My husband has been pushing this for YEARS - not Florida though, he wants Colorado. The cost of living on Long Island is ridiculous. As well as the congestion. It would be nice to live somewhere more relaxed. But then again, Florida seems to be the epicenter of all cannibalistic rabid zombie behaviour (in addition to having some kooky residents) so I may need to rething this whole thing.

Colorado is nice, but they have snow.... and fires. I totally know about the cost of living on Long Island; my son really loves it there, but he depends on that money tree he thinks we have growing in our back yard to make ends meet. He's hoping to move to the Jacksonville area within the next year or so, but I'll believe that when I see it.

Living In Florida Weather 101

Cool building--hot walk to car--cool car--hot walk to building--cool building. Repeat process.

It's hot outside, and getting into the car can be, initially, an experience in oxygen deprivation. Otherwise, you learn to live with it and it's not that bad. Plus, we don't have to carry those little snow scrapers in the back seat.

On one of our summer voyages down there when the kids were young, we had a station wagon with vinyl seats. Let's just say it wasn't just the oxygen deprivation that got to us.

My husband's brother lives in Colorado - every time we go to visit he starts the moving there talk. It's beautiful - but having lived my whole life on the coast I am not sure I would want to be landlocked. Psychologically, I'd like to know that a water escape is always an option.

I know what you mean. I moved out to Flagstaff in my twenties, and I loved it there - definitely God's country. But when I came back home, the first thing I had to do was see the beach. I'm really not a beach nut at all, but I guess it's a bigger part of me than I admit to.

We had a Plymouth Fury. We drove to Florida every year. I still remember the sound of our legs fusing to the seats.

Yeah - major meltdown, from the Magna Doodle and the kids. I beleive that was the night we discovered the Ocoee WalMart.

We also learned that you don't leave crayons or Magna Doodles in the car.....

My daughter did this once with a rental car while we were vacationing in Boston (August). We freaked out, but the rental car people just blew it off and told us to forget about it.

Lunch conversation today:
Mom: what day is today?
Me: It's Friday Mom.
Mom: Oh I thought it was Saturday.
Me: No, but tomorrow is Saturday.
Mom: So what day is today?

I really need a life....
