Oh, those poor Ingalls girls...

BTW, How did the kids make out at school yesterday?

Great - they both like their teachers and were surprised at how many kids they knew in their class beyond who they were expecting to see. My son's teacher actually called the house last night - I got so nervous at first - but she said she always calls the parents after the first day to see if they have any concerns. I thought that was pretty cool of her! They were both looking forward to going back today so that's a good sign. I can definitely feel how much easier things are going to be as we settle into our routine (even after just 2 days!)

That's cool that she called you. At my last school, we always had an Open House the first week of school for the parents to come in, and I'd e-mail them throughout the year with general news, but I only called if it was something that I felt needed immediate attention. Back in the days before e-mail, I used to make a point of calling each parent at least once per quarter with good news about something their child had done (sometimes it was hard to find!). Not only was it good for the parents to hear, but it helped me to see the kids in a different light.

Our "meet the teacher" nights are scheduled for next week - so it was definitely good to hear from her after the first day. I don't know if I mentioned the chaos as far as teacher assignments go (the letters went out with TBD as the teacher and then we received calls on Friday and Saturday of this past weekend with the teacher names - and didn't get individual teacher supply lists until the kids came home yesterday!) I know who a lot of the teachers are just from my daughter going through but I have no idea who my son's teacher is - but she does seem like she has it together so that's a good start!

Sounds like it will be a good year then! Shopping tonight?

My parents actually have been collecting school supplies all summer long. Once I compared what they bought for me to the actual list I saw that I really didn't need much - they totally hooked me up. I ordered a few things from Staples online (my office has an account so I paid personally but got free shipping on the order) and once the delivery comes tomorrow I will be all done! :D

we went to walMart today so Dave could buy 13 pairs of socks for the trip (!), and the school supplies were pretty picked over. Brought a tear to my eye....

...and look who's catching up with a certain RedSox fan in "like"ability!

Gave you a like to help the cause - but for both of you the ratios are WAY down. There are some people around here averaging almost a 1:1 ratio for posts to liked posts. You two are WAAAAYYYY too snarky to pull that off! (...and that's a GOOD thing!!)

Soooo my son is coming in late tonight to pick up his lost load of laundry and to have our mechanic look at his car again. It's also his birthday while we're gone, so we'll probably celebrate that tomorrow.
