Oh dear. So long Br'er Gator and Br'er Fox's tail.

I believe we now know why Splash Mountain will go down later this month until November - gotta give Ol' Fox time to regrow that tail....

Was just on today. The Gator and Tail are back again. However, Hopping Brer Rabbit wasn't there.
Maybe this is their idea of a soft refurb? instead of closing a popular attraction for a few whole days to fix whatever needs fixing, keep it open and fix one thing at a time during closing hours?

If it is an outright removal would it be possible to rework the scene to include the same or similar gag?

Easy enough, I'm sure.
After all, they replaced the Tar Baby with a bee hive, which kind of ruins the moral of the story.

In the original folktale, as recorded by Joel Chandler Harris and animated by Disney Studios, Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear tricked Br'er Rabbit by creating a dummy out of tar. Br'er Rabbit thought that it was a real person and said hello to it....but when the Tar Baby didn't answer him, he threw a fit and punched it in the face, getting stuck in the tar.

Somehow, some idiot decided that it was "racist" (despite the fact that it's an Americanized version of an African folk tale), so when Disney built Splash they changed it to Br'er Rabbit getting clobbered on the head by a beehive and stuck in the honey.
In the original tale, Br'er Rabbit winds up getting captured because of his own actions...his unchecked attitude was what did him in.
In the ride, he's blameless.
