Offsite Hotels

We are planning a trip and are coming from just north of New Orleans, LA. We are driving, about 10 hours, and are leaving in the morning the day before our reservations. We are planning on staying at an offsite hotel close to Disney the night we arrive so that we can drive in, check in and begin to enjoy the parks on a good nights sleep instead of driving in straight to the parks. I have researched some of the travel websites and found some hotels very close to WDW and was looking to see if anyone had any experiences with any of them. Now these are not 4 and 5 star places, wwe only need them to rest our little heads. The ones we are considering are:

Knights Inn Maingate (on 192 between I-4 and WDW Main Gate)
Econolodge Maingate (Same location as above)
Master's Inn Orlando Maingate (on Entry Point Blvd)
Days Inn Downtown Disney (on Apopka Vineland Rd)
and Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista (on Palm Parkway)

Of course other suggestions would be appreciated. All of these places have rates that range from 45-70 per night. Thanks

The only offsite hotel I would stay at again would be Wilson World. I forget which road it is on at the moment. I don't know if they still have it, but they had one of the best Breakfast Buffets. MMMM... fresh banana bread :slurp:

Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista (on Palm Parkway) is the best choice

I've always stayed offsite. Of your list Comfort Inn is the only one I have stayed at. The location is great, right around the corner from an entrance to Disney World and the have either a free continental breakfast buffet. The rooms are basic generic chain hotel jobs, but they are clean and they have the Disney information channel to whet your appetite for the comming days.

I would stay OFF of 192....the hotels on 192 are quite old, and not always too nice, even for a budget property.

The Days Inn LBV is kind of crappy.......the best thing going for it is the Waffle House next door.

Last place I stayed at was on 192. It was nothing special but the room was clean and it was conveniently located. But there are a lot of hotels along a long stretch of road, so you can easily end up in a dump that is a long way from anyplace.

Why don't you check for discount codes at WDW? Last year I found a discount code that would have you pay only $49 for the all stars... And it was for anyone, not only annual pass holders!

Some details that I left out of the original post... We have reservations at CBR beginning on March 26 and we are looking for a place to stay the night of the 25 from about 8PM until 6AM. We found a place that says it is one mile west of the Maingate entrance by Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. It is the Ramada Plaza Inn for $50 a night. We can always cancel that room if someone has a better (cheaper) idea but I think that is a pretty good deal. I tried calling Disney to get another night added on to our stay and the best rate that I could get was $109 a night at a value resort. Oh well I tried. We would still appreciate any suggestions that you may have.

74 Days until we leave for WDW!!!!!

Have you tried calling about the Hotel Royal Plaza? it might be open by then. We've stayed there and it was nice (just not the same as on the property.)

Hi there from just west of New Orleans!

And I think it will be closed for a lot longer than originally thought.....The Gay Days Official block that was there for many years has moved to the Sheraton World Resort...as the resort will not be back open in June.

Looking for a reasonably priced suite....

We will have 5 people in our group and would like to stay at an off-site hotel--possibly a suite. Money will be tight and we would like somewhere decent. I looked online at Travelodge, Holiday Inn, etc. Any input??? Thanks!
