This weeks theme is Main Street USA

Subject Rules: Pictures must center around Main Street USA. Pictures may include any aspect Main Street USA, but they can not be focused on Cinderella Castle or "The Hub" (architecture, design, landscaping/waterscaping, performers, attractions, cast members, restaurants, shops are ok) This contest is NOT limited to the Main Street USA at WDW, any Magic Kingdom Main Street USA will be accepted.

Contest Rules: Contests will run from now until -Thursday, 1/27/05 11:59pm PACIFIC TIME, submissions after this time will not be included in voting.

1 submission per member, per contest. Once you post your picture, you can not replace it. You can not use is entry in future contests, nor could it have been entered in previous contests.

Have Fun!

Although the rules state submissions can not be replaced, Since the contest is new, I feel we should allow those that have broken the rules to replace their pictures.......

The subject rules state no pictures of the castle or hub......if you have included a picture that has either of these areas "in focus", please replace your picture.

Then yeah, sounds like some pics are not allowed for this particular contest. It's anybody's game again! :D

Great pics everyone! I went through all of mine and would you believe I have NO pics of Main Street! D'oh!

It said focused. With my experience, focused means not just in focus - that particular subject is a dominant feature within the photograph, or the "focus" of the picture, not whether or not that is even a small element in the background of the composition of the photo. It has to do with where your eye is drawn initially and what dominates the photo.

That notwithstanding..... lets have some comedy, shall we?

I take it my photo is a breach of the rules? :)

It indubitably contains the image of the castle. Not sure if it is "in focus," though.

Just lemme know for sure, and I'll try to find a different one. :)

EDIT: OK, I've swapped pics.

I think your original photo was fine, Dave. You weren't taking a picture of the castle, it just happened to be there in the distance. I mean, you wouldn't be able to submit that one for the castle contest because it's obviously not a pic of the castle, so why should it not be allowed in this one? I dunno. I love both of yours regardless. In fact, I love a whole lotta your pics...so much that it makes me use the word "lotta" ;)

Fantastic photo, Dave! Amazingly captures the atmosphere of Main Street.

A picture really is worth 1000 words, eh?

Great pic AndyP. I love the view "from the top". I'm assuming this is taken from the Train Station? If not, I'd love to know where it was taken from.

Thanks.
Rob.

I agree.......if you look at the picture on post #47, that is not a picture of Main Street USA.....that is a picture of the Castle with MSUSA included.

I am not sure what the confusion is.

Ditto. What a fantastic and unique pic!
I went to Magic Kingdom after work Saturday for a photo shoot. Perhaps once voting starts I'll post more. What gets me about that particular picture is the weather- it was cloudy and dreary all afternoon. I don't even know where that lovely blue sky came from....... I guess I'm just that good? :veryconfu :animwink:

Here's one from the Main Street Train Station. . .this should count as Main Street. I'm not sure why I like it so much.

Yeah thats right, Stood there for an hour and a half to get the spot. We wanted to get the very middle ready for Wishes, but some people where there for 3 hours or so! Unfortunately my camera battery ran out during the parade so that was the best photo I got from up there (some were out of focus as well). I have better shots of Spectro, but you can't see any of main street on them so I used this, so we could all see Main Street in one of its many great roles, parade host!! :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

That's a beautiful Picture. It's the kind of shot that tells a story with a single frame.

What makes this picture so good? The stroller. It gives us that sense of the human spirit without a human present. If that stroller weren't there, the picture would lose it's magic.

Amazing job, there. Very magical shot, Kev.
