Not sure what's worse:

1. this campaign

2. or 28 people who actually like it

32 so far. It's a marketing campaign. My preference would be to not have one -- just advertise the parks as they are. But as campaigns go, I like it. It's quite "Disney", focussing as it does on the family and memorable moments. And the castle projection stuff could be neat.

3. Internet _______ who deride those who's opinion that doesn't agree with theirs.

Are you saying my opinion of their opinion is wrong. Therefore, you're no worse than I?

 PARADOX.

Seriously though, it's more utterly suprising than "your opinion is wrong".

Exactly! Advertise TSMM, Mickey's Not So Scary, Very Merry, etc.

I really don't see how this campaign promises anything except the poissiblity of getting on the castle? There's no point to it unless something special hasn't been announced (doubt it). It's just for people who need to be reminded Walt Disney World is about magic, celebrating, dreams, wishes, and now memories- ENOUGH. It's so old.

I thought the water park commercials were the rebirth of classic WDW advertising :/

Exactly.

I'll admit I'm not overly thrilled with the projection on the castle, but what they could do with that infrastructure in the futures is really exciting.

It's a marketing campaign. It's not meant for people like us who are going to go (or not go) anyways.

No, but there are ways to converse without lumping people into a group and generally insulting them.

Some sort of civil discourse on the merits or inefficiencies of this campaign would be preferable. Unfortunately, that has been lost in multitude of threads decrying what is going to amount to little more than a slide show on the castle at night, new commercials, and some banners as the fourth horse of the apocalypse.

Underwhelmed...

This was so underwhelming to anyone under the age of death that I turned the thing off.

Some disney suit explaining what social media is to a group of people watching a press conference ON A SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNEL seems kind of stupid.

Seriously, this is just dumb...if you already post your pictures on FB or Flickr, PhotoBucket, Tumblr, etc the concept isn't revolutionary.

What strikes me as funny is I'm pretty sure that Disney will then own ALL photos posted on their site and will be free to use them in any way they see fit.

This whole thing was aimed at soccer moms in their late 30's and 40's who have never been on a social media website and will be stunned by this revolutionary idea as their heart strings are being manipulated. For those of us DROWNING in social media, we face palm and walk away going...old people...they don't know anything.

As for projecting crap and i mean CRAP on Cinderella's Castle...can we leave something archtecturally significant and classic alone for just once? Why has disney gone on this god awful gaudy kick where everything must be covered in some sort of tacky over the top thing that makes you throw up in your mouth everytime you see it?

I'm just sick of WDW constantly having to have crummy "celebtaions" marketing schemes. Can we just have a year with nothing for once? People are still going to come reguardless.

I think they are using the same projectors that they use on the castle already. I know that during Wishes and the other nighttime shows that they project stuff on the castle. I really don't like looking at other peoples picture now we are going to be forced to. I hope they don't incorporate this into the fireworks show.
Someday it will just be another forgotten marketing campaign. But if we get to keep the castle projections (without guest pics in the long term) then I will remember this campaign fondly. Because there is no limit to how the new castle special effects can be used.

Slideshow on the castle and all of the other icons is a pretty HUGE deal. It kinda ruins the icons at night with some random family up there.

And, seriously, what's appealing to you about this campaign? Or anyone?

It's like we're settling for a lackluster in my campaign. The only new thing they've never done before that really sets this apart from ANY other campaign is the slideshow (which I've expressed my opinion on already).

So, I just don't get the appeal. It goes right over my head.

I thought this was new technology. Similar to the projections at DL SM.

I don't remember any previous projections that were this vivid although I know they added new lighting a couple years ago. This appears new to me although I could be wrong.

It depends how long and when the photos will be up there.

Why would a marketing campaign even need to appeal to us? We are more than likely go for different reason than a marketing campaign.

We are not the target for this.

Bingo. Disney doesn't need to "work" for most of the people on WDWmagic's money. They need to however, "work" for the business of those who only visit the parks once every 5 - 10 years.

As I said in another post the more appropriate name seems to be "Let the Begin" since that's all anyone here has been doing since 1pm yesterday.

Really? We aren't the target for this?

We can't make memories? The campaign sets itself on a vague demographic. Basically, anyone who goes to WDW. How are you not part of this target audience?

I doubt Disney really had any tourists go to WDW just because of the celebration theme because they really wanted to celebrate in Universal, but because it was literally spelled out at Walt Disney World it tipped the scale in the mouse's favor. No. It's advertising the name. Keeping it out there. Advertising 101.

Has Disney ever denied you memories? Or the right to celebrate? Or make a wish? No. It's just an advertisement that seems to carry on for 2 years.

They probably don't need to, but they should. They don't have to work on millions of people to get them to come, but they should. At least a decent attempt. I'd rather not settle for "this campaign is for other people, not me" excuse. Does WDW not target every single demographic out there specifically except senior citizens? I mean, come on.

I don't like to be pessimistic, but I just can't settle for this stupid 'memories' bologna.

And, by the way, the "" is deserved.

Considering the is constant and over everything Disney says/does...I'd say it would happen no matter what the campaign they announced yesterday was. People love having something to rant and rave about.
