Does anyone know if Off Kilter has released any CD's and where they can be purchased? We absolutely loved listening to them when we were there last month.:p

As listed above the CD's can be ordered directly through Off Kilter's own website. You can also pick up the CD's in the Canada Pavilion in EPCOT and the guys in the band are always just awesome about signing the CD's for their fans!!! Belle

Marie, the minute I saw this thread title I knew I'd find you here!

I bought an Off Kilter CD for my BIL two Christmases ago, he is a bagpiper and loves the CD!

Oh thanks very much! Belle, do you have a suggestion for my first CD to get? We were just there in December and absolutely loved what they were playing. Do you think it was from their most recent album or from various ones?

Of the CDs which are more traditional celtic music? I purchased Celtic Armadillo and some is OK but most sounds like cheap progressive rock. I think they are awesome whenever we see them in EPCOT but this particular CD does not thrill me. Which of their CDs is closer to what you are hearing at EPCOT?

Thanks,
Mike

Hey there all!!!! Ah the joys of being an Off Kilter Fan!!! As far as choice of CD's as well as which are more traditional there is a website That I belong to called the Off Kilter Shrine. It is a strictly fan based website run by some pretty amazing young ladies. We have a great many sections to the website but the Lyrics page would probably be the place to start. The link for that directly is here: http://groups.msn.com/OffKilterShrine/lyrics1.msnw
The Lyrics page breaks down by album and makes note of the instrumentals as well.
The first album named Off Kilter is probably the most traditional of all and the least adventurous in terms of original material. There are some great songs on here but if you are looking for edgy this aint it!
The second Album called Etched in Stone was the first album of theirs that I did purchase.
This is a nice mix of the traditional and the original that was the hallmark of this band. Some of the originals such as Hey Ewe! are instrumental and are a staple at their shows some like Rap is only done once in a great while live, with Jamie doing his famous rapper imitation!!! It rhymes with Snoop Dogg but begins with a P on the first word!!!! Miserlou is also a favorite on this album. That is the one that sounds like possibly Greek or Hebrew music.
Album # 3 is Celtic Armadillo Again a good mix of the traditional and the orginal rock that we know and love. Randy Holbrook who plays lead guitar makes his songwriting debut with this album in Ode to a Zeta which to me is very Van Halen-ish. There is a guitar solo on one of the VH albums prior to one of their popular songs that this reminds me of. I think it is the prelude to " You Really Got Me" Nothing Changes is a great song and Like you is pretty cool as well. The cream of the crop from this album is Jamie's rendition of Dark Island. Stunning is all I can say. It is a lovely song, done without a trace of an accent which Jamie Holton does do in most of his singing, accompanied by Tony Escapa on several different instruments apparently which is why rumour has it that this song wont be done live ever. All in all a great album.
Album #4 The Live Tracks. This is probably the one I would recommend for all you fans out there because it is designed and executed as exactly that....a Live album. The guys joking around, and banter is in the recordings themselves. This is as close to a set at EPCOT as you are likely to get outside of the parks. This album seems to focus more on the traditional end of things and isnt exploring the rock options as much. I personally get up and dance every time I hear Johnny B Goode on Bagpipes but I Am odd like that!!!!
CD #5- Kick It! Ah we reach my personal favorite. I prefer the rock edge and there is quite a bit of the band's genius here of that. The vocals on this particular album are crisper and clearer than on any previous work to date. I think Mark Weldon's vocals on this album cant be matched anywhere. The duet between him and Jamie on Loch Lomond is wonderful and Mark's vocal solo on Green Fields of France is just breathtaking. Lament for Freeman's Whistle is a bagpipe intro to Green Fields of France and if I am remembering my OK history correctly the author of this song is one of Jamie's bagpipe teachers!!!!
As an interesting side note the last three albums were produced, mixed, and mastered by Angelo Jannotti in conjunction with Off Kilter. Angelo also works at Disney as the Lead Guitarist for Mulch, Sweat & Shears in The Disney MGM Studios!!!!! I have a bunh of pictures of Off Kilter as well as Mulch Sweat & Shears and some other random stuff in my photo album also on the Shrine here: http://groups.msn.com/OffKilterShrine/bellespics.msnw
Please feel free to look around and read all you'd like. In order to post you must apply to become a member to our board manager Scully. Just tell her Belle sent ya!!! Seriously though, new members are always welcome to come and discuss this great band.
Also there is talk that the Off Kilter guys may be coming out with a new CD as early as this summer. As soon as we get confirmation, I Am sure it will be posted on the Shrine!!! Any other questions, please feel free to ask!!!! Belle

The Live Tracks sounds identical to an Epcot show... I can close my eyes and be in the Florida sunshine :)

They also can be purchased from a cart outside the Canada pavilion.

If you have a Highland or Celtic festival coming soon, you may be able to find the cd's there. I have come across many vendors selling OffKilter cd's, however the price is a bit higher than at Epcot.

The beginning of the song is a remake of the ________ Dale song of the same name. It's the that classic sixties' guitar surf sound. The end goes into Hava Nagelia (sp.).

The beginning is very reminisceint of the Space Mountain track.

Thanks I will try that one next as I really don't like most of Celtic Armidillo. I really only like the first track which is the Irish Rover I believe and Amazing Grace. The rest I could do without but to each their own I guess.

I do think they sound excellent though whenver we see them in EPCOT.

Wow Belle you do know your Off Kilter!

I do like the edgier rock songs and some of the traditional. I'm going to test you! I have a video clip of the very end of a song that I liked from December. If I sent it to you do you think you could figure out what song it is and what album it is from? It's a toughy because it is the VERY end of the song. What do you think?
