October hours/special events

We have a trip planned to begin in 33 days (but who's counting) and looking on the Disney web page for hours and events, it seems that the parks will close around 6-7:30, depending of course on the park. Looking at the special events planned for MK, it shows only the Share a Dream Parade, and no Fireworks during the week we are there.
Our last October trip was during the 25th celebration and the parks stayed open much later.
My question, just how reliable is the Disney site concering hours and events. I know that Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party takes place the last night we are there, and we already have tickets to that, yet it is not listed on the events page. Are the hours subject to change, or do you think what they have listed will the the actual times. I am one of those who is at the parks from open to close and I don't to have to miss a thing!

Meega, nala kwishta!
Hey, I'm counting at 34 days! :D

There is to be fireworks on that friday at MK at the end of the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. So if you stay, you will indeed get to see fireworks.

They are also scheduled for Saturday at MK.

And, as usual, Illuminations and Fantasimic should be on every night (weather permitting) at World Showcase and MGM.

Have a great time, maybe we'll pass each other in the crowds.

30 days and counting for me. We went last Oct and the hours posted are similar to last year. The hours are shorter but the parks were less crowded so we could get in everything.

The MAIN difference is the absence of EE. When we were there last year, it was the last week of EE. That is what i miss!!!

I wish they would bring that back. There's nothing like getting to the parks early........

I agree about the loss of EE. Whatever park had the EE, that was the park we went to first, and it was surprising how much you could get done in an hour or an hour and a half. But I doubt Disney will ever bring those back again. Asking them to do that would be like :brick:

Amen David. I could always get in 2 or 3 rides on the RnR and TOT before 9 o'clock. It was great. And i agree, i doubt they will bring it back, much to my dismay...

EE was how we planned our days.....sorry for the thread drift.

As for October, it is our favorite time to go, even with the shorter hours.

I think the posted times are just a guess as to how crowded they expect the parks to be. We just went in Feb and the parks were suppose to close early. Well the crowds were definitely larger than I expected and from what a CM told me, it caught Disney by surprise also. The end result at MK was staying open at least an hour longer than avertised, and even through in an e-night that week. One night they stayed open 3 hours later than what was posted the week before. A year earlier we went and it wasn't that crowded, the parks closed earlier, but the wait for splash mountain was only 15 minutes.

There's a little disclaimer on the schedule that states "hours/events subject to change." Usually, that means WDW will increase them as needed! ;)

We were at WDW in early 11/01 right after early entry ended and none of the parks opened a minute before the posted time. We are going in 10/02. Has this changed any and is there any point in getting to the parks before opening time? How are the lines for the security checks at the parks?
