THANKS! ;) Meanwhile I have to read up on this new magicband fastpass plus thingy....o_O. Had old system down....and loved it.

The first few weeks of October are, in my opinion, one of the best times of year to go. I went the weekend following Halloween this year and that was a bit crowded, but not unbearably so. :)

We did our first October trip from the 19th-26th this past fall. It was crazy crowded on the 19th & 20th (Sat. & Sun.) but lightened up a bit thereafter. We did the MNSSHP on Thursday, the 24th and it was quite packed.

Granted it's been several years since we been in October, but we found the crowds to be managable. We were even there over Columbus Day weekend. I know I few people who went in early Oct and said they were surprised at the crowds. I will say that the weather that time of year its enjoyable.

We have been to WDW every fall for several years in a row now. Usually end of September/first week of October, specifically for the MNSSHP but Food and Wine is big draw as well. What we have found is that resorts are full but strangely enough it does not translate out to the parks being overly crowded. EPCOT is of course very crowded, especially on the weekends. The party's are always crowded but very manageable if you get there early and plan ahead what is most important to you and your family. The weather is darn near perfect, hot but not too hot, pools comfortable, rain minimal. It really is my favorite time to go, too bad I won't be going this year! I have thought it thru, and looked around for another time to go, but have not taken the process beyond that yet. I am hopeful we will get there next year around (2015) November 14th for my grandson's birthday, he is one now and we want to go when he turns three.

epcot gets busier because of food and wine, especially weekends. Rest of the parks not too bad. Like every other time, get to parks early, do the busier attractions. Hsave lunch and go back to resort for a swim or reat.

We visited October 8-13, 2012. Granted, all of our 6+ prior visits had been during Easter break (which is insane), but we were delighted with the lower crowds. (By Touring Plans' reckoning, I think the levels were around the 3-5 range, out of 10, during our visit). Half of the attractions were walk-ons. Although headliners still had waits that peaked around 45 minutes (e.g., the MK mountains) to 60+ (Soarin'), we got around that with rope drop arrivals and Fastpasses, and never waited more than 20 minutes for anything. I will say that those who don't care to do many attractions and like to spend time in "common areas" and walkways would have found it crowded. Attraction lines were short, so people got in and out faster and spent a greater proportion of their day walking between attractions instead of standing in line for them, so everything always "looked" crowded. Once you saw how short the attraction lines were, however, it was clear that it was a period of lower attendance than usual. (That's why I think a lot of people express shock at how "crowded" the parks are in lower-crowd weeks -- they don't stop to think about all the thousands of people who are NOT invisibly standing in lines! Truth is, except for the first and last couple of hours of the day, walkways are fairly crowded year-round.)

The weather was beautiful, tour groups were scant (and from what we observed as we were running in the opposite direction from them, all from Equador and not badly-behaved!), and only a couple of attractions were down for refurbishment. The only thing we learned about that time of year was to avoid the Food and Wine Festival in the evenings with our small children in tow, as World Showcase was densely crowded with "stumbly" people not looking out for little ones in their path, and fairly poorly lit. (Had we been without the kids, we'd have headed toward World Showcase at that time of day instead of away -- for grown-ups, it seemed a lovely event. I certainly did enjoy hitting up some of the food booths earlier in the day.) I'd visit again in October in a heartbeat.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Disney this past October 28th-November 1st.

The lines were practically non existent and the weather was perfect!

Even with Food and Wine and Not So Scary Party (on Halloween) the crowds were considerably lighter than I anticipated.

It used to be a very slow time, but there's a lot of offers of free dining packages, MNSSHP and Food and wine festival. This is my favourite time to go cos' there's a lot of things to do. If you want to have less crowded parks, you should go early november (when MNSSHP ends), but if you want to enjoy that time, the crowds are really manageable, taking advantage of FP+ for the popular rides. Weather is almost perfect that time, october or early november.

We wnet this past year from Oct. 6 thru the 13th. The 1st fedw days were very nice crowd levels were very low. But from Wed on it was carazy crowded. We went to the Halloween party on thur night and it was insane. We find out the next day that this party and the rest from then on were sold out. Not only was MK packed but all of the parks were insane crowded. We went to HS and tried to do TSM and they fast passes were already gone by 9 am for day and you could barely move in the park. EPCOT for FW was also where you could barely walk around. We had heard this past year was the most crowded people had seen during this time of year compared to past years.

We have been in October 4 times during the last 6 years and have another trip planned for this October. I feel that over the years it has become more crowded during that time. We made the mistake of planning our trip during Columbus Day weekend. We could barely get around at Epcot on that Saturday. I will NEVER make that mistake again! Overall I think its the best time of the year to visit. There is so much to offer with MNSSHP and Food and Wine Festival. Plus the weather is wonderful during this time. I think as long as you avoid Columbus Day weekend you will find the crowd levels to be managable and you will enjoy your fall visit.

Loved WDW during the third week of October 2011. Reasonably low crowds (except evenings at the F&W Festival), nice weather (although a few were pretty hot), MNSSHP and, as I mentioned, the F&WF.

I was there last year September 29 - October 5. Crowds were much smaller. Did the MNSSHP on 9/29 with no waits for rides at all and "spread out room". It was nowhere near sold out. Of course, the added bonus of the F&W Festival in Epcot. And the weather was very comfortable. Definitely a good time to go.

I don't want to sound mean but I hate when people ask this question! It varies so much from year to year that it's hard to tell what it's going to be like! I've went when the crowd calendar said it's dead and it was crowded and I've went when the crowd calendar said it's crowded and it was dead! The best thing to do is plan for when you want to go and what works best for you! Regardless of the outcome you're still at WDW having fun and that's way better than being stuck at home having to go to work in my opinion! That being said, I love going in September/October the Magic Kingdom is decorated for fall and we always attend Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party! The Food & Wine Festival is also there which really isn't a big thing for me but a lot of other people seem to enjoy it! Also, the weather is usually very nice although when we went last year it got a little hotter than what I like for several days! Good luck on your trip planning and have a great time! :)

Crowd levels in October in general are below average, except Columbus Day weekend (Columbus Day is Monday, October 13) and as it gets closer to Halloween. Halloween is on a Friday this year so I would expect large crowds. Of course, MNSSHP will probably be sold out too.

I would call October "crowded"...especially when compared to now. It is not the most crowded time, but it isn't dead like it was once upon a time.

Back in the day, late September and October were gloriously uncrowded. It is no longer my experience. But I don't want to quibble with someone who thinks those are uncrowded times. :)

We visited last year during the week before Halloween. Previously, we visited in January and December. The crowds were heavier than what we're used to on most of the days. Epcot was very crowded for F&W, but manageable, EXCEPT for evenings. While my wife and I aren't saints, we were very surprised at the copious amounts of foul language and questionable behavior at Epcot in the evenings (plus more than a handful of drunks) - not a place for children, IMO. We avoided Epcot at nights after our first night there.

That said, we won't be going back in Oct. We wanted to go for our son's birthday, so that was a lot of fun.

I would discount any experiences of crowd levels from Oct 2013. I was there and it was chaotic, mostly because of the rollout of the Magic bands. There were so many problems with people being able to get double fastpasses and the bands not working.
I also think that they cut the number of fastpasses available to day guests which is why they were "selling out" so early in the morning.
Normally October is a great time to go, the weather is usually perfect there is loads to do for Halloween ( in all parks, not just Disney), Food and Wine Festival.
I would hope that by October this year they would have ironed out the teething problems of the Magic bands, and you never know, because of all the problems last year it might have put people off going back again this year.

Is the not so scary halloween parade the same parade they run during halloween daylight parades. Because the parade for the mickey's Christmas is the same parade they ran during the day light in the Magic Kingdom.
