No idea on if this relates to the motorcade, but the utilidors were designed for vehicular traffic if necessary. The Brinks truck and ambulences are regularly allowed in the tunnel in the case of emergencies.

Goodness...his comments on increasing brazil group peeps at parks.....:lookaroun More tourist sure...but somehow it's those large touring groups that irk me vs it just being busy....I actually made it through 1/2 of my last trip without seeing one....and then there were 6!!!! Extreme speed walking vs getting in line BEHIND a hundred peeps in one shot has become a new hobby of mine...:sohappy:

I'm usually not excited by meet-and-greets in the parks, but this one must have been really cool.

Plus, the president said "EPCOT Center" during his speech, which made me smile.

Would've been funny if someone from his cabinet got up after him and said "Excuse me, excuse me everybody. Just to clarify, what the President meant was we welcome more families from Brazil. We do not under any circumstances promote the idea of more Brazilian Tour Groups. Vote Obama in November. Thank you, and God bless America!"

pretty sure his speech in HoP comes off less robotic. but FYI, the motorcade entered backstage at the entranc near Splash Mountain.. Police presence was quite heavy in that area...

I would have liked it if someone got up and said how much Brazilians improve the aesthetics of the existing tourist population.

:p

A note from the park...area from studio catering company all the way to animation courtyard is closed until after the fireworks. Toy Story shut down at 5 and will reopen for EMH

I'm thinking probably up World Dr to Floridian Way and into Gate 3 and drove up right behind Casey's.

The Sentinel reported earlier that they used the 528 (Beachline) to I-4. And then it said he waived to people in front of Hess. I have to assume that somewhere on north World Drive the motorcade switched to the southbound lanes and went north past the Hess station, then up Floridian Way to the back side of Magic Kingdom. No way would he have gone past the Hess station across from DTD.

Just watched the fireworks show at the Studios - they did an awesome job. Great performance by Mulch, Sweat & Shears as well.

It was actually a really quiet day in the park. Disney did a great job as usual of handling the event and did a rapid tear down to run the parade on time.

If this is in fact true, this must present a security/ logistical nightmare for the Secret Service. Is there precedent for a sitting President visiting WDW while other guests were in the park? I can't think of any from my lifetime, which admittedly only goes back as far as the Reagan administration.

It could be but main st and that area can be fairly well isolated from the rest of the park.
